1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Finding BJDs in the strangest places

Nov 29, 2007

    1. Golly I wish. I'm on the lookout though. I think that a girl who used to student aide for for my government teacher might have had one, I wouldn't really be surprised if she was here somewhere! I've not been to any of the meetups in my area either.
I have a friend who had seen them before but didn't own any or plan to own any... so that doesn't really help....

    2. i've not once seen a doll, heard people talking about them, or anything like them, where i live.
Which is weird, 'cause there's like...5people i've seen on here, who live close to me.

      It's dissappointing. :/

    3. Huh...I've yet to run into ANY dolls near here. If there's anything like this in the middle of nowhere--OH SORRY I mean, Rome, OH, then I have yet to see so. XD I wish I had dolly/anime friends to hang out with here. Country folks just aren't as well rounded as I am, I guess. XD

    4. Hah, you too huh? Seems we live somewhat near to eachother.

    5. Sadly, i live in a very small town of about 10,000 people in rural Arkansas. I love all things asian but i have yet to find anyone who shares my intrest just a little bit

    6. I'm in Northeast ohio...Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area ish?

I've heard of Rome, but never been..D:
      Is it near columbus?

    7. Well. I saw one in book fair. It was not really suprising, because there were also cosplay there and there woulded be some manga and anime fan with doll, but I didn't think about it and it still suprised me.

We were walking with my friend, and she saw it (she were next to me, so I couldn't even see it because of her). We went to chat BJD owner, but she maybe didn't really like it... ^^' I wouldn't maybe like if somebody really random comes to me and touches my doll. (Well, I don't own BJD yet) But I didn't touch it well, just slightly, because my friend gave it back to owner before I could.

    8. The only time I saw BJD that was random and I fully didn't expect it was when I was at the mall. I noticed something cute sticking out of this girl's purse. I knew it was a doll, but I didn't realize it was a MSD until I got closer O_O It was so pretty! I wish I could remember the mold. Apparently she lived in Miami and was visiting.. I wish I asked for her e-mail or something (she was so sweet and cool).

      Gahh, I want to get one ;_;

    9. Ehe, I have one of these...

Me and my mom randomly stopped by the dollar store (she always buys gift bags there XP) one time, and at the end of one of the aisles, there was a section for school supplies. There was this cute packaged set of 3 lipstick erasers (a plastic lipstick tube with an eraser inside instead of actual lipstick XD) and, lo and behold, the tubes had pictures of Volks SD F-01 all over them DDD8
Needless to say, they came home with me :sweat

    10. haha check the page before this one on this thread, I found them too lol

    11. I saw a BJD doll at an art show once near me in South Dakota. Could not find the owner, but he was super pretty! I wish I knew if there was any BJD owners in my state. Its funny where this guys just POP out of nowhere!

    12. Well, about a month ago, I was at Discovery Kingdom (a theme park in my hometown) and My friend and I were wandering around the little shops before hitting some rides. She is scared of BJDs so she would have NEVER noticed this.
I found a belt in one of those shops.
      $3.
BJDs all over it, and no one knew what they were!

    13. omg that belt is so cool :o
i wish i had one like that :D

    14. Heh, just last week my parents and our neighbor girl (a 21 yearold college hipster) and I were sitting on the porch talking about tattoos, cus my dad's and artist, and I was saying that when I get my doll I want to use this tiny chair in the tat shop to make it look like he's getting it done there.

My neighborasked what sort of doll, and I went into the generic long-winded explanation of what they are, and she goes "Oh my god! You too? I've been trying to convince my boyfriend to get me a Soom!"

I almost fainted, my parents think I'm WAY weird for wanting to "waste" that much money on a doll, but I pointed to her and babbled excitedly: "SEE?! I'm NOT a freak! Normal people love them TOO!

    15. I just got back into BJD's right before Christmas 2009....a couple years ago I got into and then got out because I decided they were too expensive for me. Anyway I am all new but I have been buying and selling vintage dolls on ebay for 10 years and the PO clerks know me and my dolls. A couple weeks ago a clerk was teasing me saying like "another doll going out? that's funny they are usually coming in". A girl was at the next counter and she said, oh what kind of dolls? And I said vintage playpals but I am just getting into BJD's and she says, I collect BJD's and gave me her card. She does face-ups and is on here! Yay!

    16. One time, I saw a friend at school with two compacts she said she bought at the flea market, but guess what? The covers had BJD's on them. My addiction has come in pretty handy in occasion, because I'm able to identify molds with ease, and I identified them as Leeke World M-Type Noella and Volks SD Girl Mimi!!

    17. Hmm.. in some tiangge in the philippines... Some are on shirts? back part of the compact mirrors? little pouches and bags? XD I can't really remember the mold but you can buy these stuff even in 7-11 XD

    18. Haha Taiwan is the same you can buy mirrors with BJD pics on the back. :P They are the little round ones right?

    19. Aaah, it seems that quite a few people have the BJD face merchandise too. :XD: My friend bought me a belt of it from Universal Studios, I actually thought it was really sweet of her, seeing as how she doesn't seem to any of the dolls.:D

But that's America and England is a totally different story, lol. I was actually shocked to discover that other people in the same city as me in the hobby, and practically had a fit when I recognised the parcel force office in some one's box opening thread. xD I think that there may be one girl who in my school who might know about them (because she's a serious anime fan - I don't even know her but I can tell, she always walks around with manga books and even shojo t-shirts), but I think she assumes I'm a rabid anime fan because I randomly screamed something like "OMG DGRAYMAN" or something at her. xD But I'll keep on looking, regardless. >: D

    20. unfortunately I go to college in a very small town. I know I'm the only one around with BJDs. But I'm working on that, my roommate now wants one, and a girl I know from the houston group is moving here over the summer, and my bestfriend who also has dolls is seriously considering coming here. So hopefully soon..
