1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Finding The Motivation to Finish Doll Projects

Aug 31, 2018

    1. I honestly have the perfect room to do projects in, but it's the one room in the house that is in complete disarray. :c
I think you have a really good point there. Having a clean room with less distractions does help me to finish up projects. Right now I've been making do with a coffee table in the living room, which is less than ideal. :')

    2. Don't do anything that makes it less fun though! D: In other aspects of my life, I usually find ways to make a certain activity more fun and more appealing, so I don't have to feel like I'm forcing myself. Doing that might have the opposite effect on you and make you resent projects.

    3. :') I do try my best to do that, but I think I need to speed up in my crafting a tad. I have a load of trouble drafting patterns, so the weeks of trial and error to get something that may fit tends to consume the whole time. Then again, I won't get any faster without practice! Ditto on the pants thing too; I keep promising to figure out how to draft pants for my RS boy, but I'm much too easily distracted.

    4. I usually put the project I'm having trouble with away for another time. Sometimes I'll take a picture or even a short minute video to tell myself what happened with it and what I tried that didn't work so I can give it a go at another time. And then I just move on to the next one. I have a doll head that I just removed the faceup from because even though I liked it six months ago, I didn't still like it. I have eye bases sitting in an organizer waiting to be sorted/buffed/painted so they can be completed with their resin domes. And there's several dolls in need of wigs and several hangers of yarn to be brushed out. There are also dolls lacking in outfits that I have drawers of fabric for. If I get stuck on one, I just hop to the next. Give the last one a break so I don't frustrate myself or end up hate doing it. (A bit off topic, but I'll never do "reroots " no way in hell I'll do that more than once)

    5. The bright side of having all of these projects waiting to be finished is that you know you’ll never be bored! I think that would be so much worse than having to struggle to finish all the projects you have waiting!!!! :) I love how creative and imaginative the people in this hobby are!

    6. I am only a year into the hobby. But I get frustrated with sewing. I know how to make adult clothes but the tiny MSD seems beyond me. They never meet my expectations. But I have tons of crap material, so.... Practice, practice. Also, I do switch to sculpting, resin, building diorama, or jewelry making when I want to throw out the Bernina. (sewing machine)
