1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

First doll you fell in love with?

Jul 16, 2016

    1. Fifth Motif Venitu... :( I know how you feel. He's discontinued too :sigh I hope you can find your girl second hand!! Best of luck!!!

    2. I think my BJD "inciting incident", to say, was with a minifee Chloe on IG. Fell in love. Didn't realize there was other head sculpts at the time, so I'm not too into Chloe anymore, but I certainly still love Minifees! Buying one after my next few payments!

    3. The first doll I fell in love with ws Mystic Kids Evelyn. I love baby faced girls apparently. Luckily for me she was affordable! I still have her a year and a half later.

    4. Volks U-noss.
I lurked the hobby long before I joined the forum here and actually got my first doll. Unoa Lusis came out meantime and I loved her too so she was my first. I still play with her the most. I have U-noss now, more Unoa as hybrids and Unola Fluorite too. What can I say, I love Mr Araki's dolls!

    5. Volks SD13 Kohya back in 2004! I was super new to BJDs at that time, I knew barely anything about them and didn't join DoA until a year later. Well he was limited and I never thought I would be able to afford a BJD and bought some 1/6 dollfies instead but a year later I ended up getting my first BJD which was a Luts/CP Yder and I kind of put Kohya behind me, thinking I would never be able to get him but in 2009 someone on DoA was selling one second hand and I finally got him :D

This is him, taken a few months ago

Not bad for a 12 year old doll XD

    6. @lishelove No surprise there, lol.

The very first doll I fell in love with was Souldoll Chiron... but then I discovered IOS Osiris (and IOS in general) and Chiron was totally forgotten. Sorry, Chiron.

    7. First doll I remember falling in love with was a DOD Duncan. I saw him and his owner in a pic on deviantart and I fell in love instantly. Someday, though I'm not sure when, he WILL be mine. <3

    8. Hi,
I'm Japanese_Woman 16 and I understand you completely because I had gotten a bjd and when I look to see if there were anymore of it or clothes for it. I found out that the company was discontinued also. So you r not the only one.

    9. IslandDoll Cookie, without stumbling into her on a fair, I might never have joined this hobby. The second doll I fell for was DiM Odelia and she finally made it home this month. And the third Little Monica Dyuke: I have him on layaway now and I'll collect him at Ldoll on my 6th hobby anniversary this October. My tastes may have changed greatly over the years, but this lot are the exception!

    10. I had looked at Volks first and they made me want a bjd but at the time, no specific sculpt really got me.

The first that made my heart race and brought tears to my eyes was Anbel of Dream Chen (the version available in 2008 with the old mature muscular body and more defined face). I fell in love with the company pictures and owner pictures just confirmed my love! He was my first doll, and now my tastes have changed drastically but I still have him stored away!

    11. Littlefee Pipi. Its been years but I finally have a tan boy on order along with a natural Bisou girl for my mother, she loves chubby baby faces!

    12. Iplehouse Roger, he's discontinued now, and I don;t have room in my house for such a large doll. :...( I thought his sculpt was amazing, he's the reason I started to look into owning a bjd.

    13. Luts Senior Delf Karis. First love, so my first BJD :whee: every time I though about getting a less expensive doll to enter the hobby with, well I just couldn't go for it as it'd mean I would be that much farther off from getting Karis. It's been a year now and I still love him to bits!

    14. The first doll I fell in love with was Soom Amber. I was really upset when I found out she was a limited and I thought I'd never find her. I loved her gentle face, and her pretty outfit and fantasy parts. I ended up finding the perfect Amber about 6 months into the hobby on the MP. I also fell in love with Soom Heliot, Migidoll Miho, and Dollshe Saints because of their unique features.

    15. This thread is so much fun to read!

Dollmore's Lusion Dahlia was the one that made me finally fall head over heels with a bjd rather than just "wanting" one. Besides her size (which I LOVE) there was just something really special about her face and range of expression. I remember the excitement I had when I first saw the release pictures and showed them to pretty much everyone I knew, even non-doll people haha! :D

Back at the time I first discovered BJDs, back in '03 or so, Volks was the only company I knew about and I wanted so badly to feel that way about one of their sculpts, even visited the LA/Torrance store soon after it opened thinking that maybe seeing a range of the dolls in person would change my mind and help me find "the one", but I just took a long time to figure out the type of look I tend to go for. Gave up checking on bjd news for many years and only started looking again in about '09. Honestly, discovering Dahlia reinvigorated my interest in this hobby, and in a way, she's ultimately responsible for me finally choosing to buy my first bjd in '11 because she made me realize I should try handling a smaller doll before commiting to an 80cm Dahlia!

    16. Switch Shiho cause he/she was just soooo cute! He ended up being the first full doll I ordered directly from the company, though I did receive 2nd hand purchases before him.

The doll which first made me really seriously want a BJD was Iplehouse Felix cause he is such a handsome guy! I never bought him though and he's no longer on top of my wishlist just because I found so many dolls I liked more over time.

    17. Crobidoll marisol
As soon as I saw her I was in love

    18. It was 2001 and I was in my first year of high school. I was browsing on Ebay of all places looking at gothic lolita clothes (because of course when you live in a small town that gets up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer you have to rebel by wearing lots of black in poofy layers.:doh)

Someone had listed an SD sized gothic lolita dress in the women's clothes category and a Volks SD Nana was modeling it. My breath was taken away. I had never seen a doll like that before. After a week or so of research I discovered the magic that is Volks. (There weren't many other BJD companies at the time. Maybe Luts and Customhouse.) During that whole week I could barely eat or sleep. It's like these dolls grabbed a peace of my heart and have never let go. (I'm almost 30 now and I still love them so much!) It became my life's mission to bring a Volks Super Dollfie home. About six months later after a lot of saving and going through a shopping service (Crescent Shop!) I was able to bring Nana home!

I'll never forgot opening that box. I was in awe. I had never seen something so perfect. It's funny because one of her acrylic eyes had come loose during shipping because Volks only put little dots of hot glue then, but I still thought she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. :whee:

While I don't have that exact doll anymore. Nana (F-01, Four Sisters) is still one of my favorite sculpts ever and I always have at least one in my collection.:aheartbea
