1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

~For Those Who Own a Single Doll~

Jul 27, 2009

    1. Like many, I have only one doll because of the expense. I got my boy unexpectedly because I fell ion love with his sculpt and faceup. I really don't want another (though I think my partner wants one)

    2. I only had one doll for five years. Then he demanded a girlfriend, who wanted a baby, then my first doll's brother came along and then the girlfriend wanted HER brother - needless to say, I don't fit in this thread anymore.

    3. I got my first doll when I was in school still and when I had no job, so with the price of dolls as they are I didn't really see myself affording more than one doll. At first I planned on only one doll, but once I had a little more money it became possible. Though I never see myself with as many dolls as some have.

I also find it amusing that over the years since this thread was started, Oakie, who started this thread also acquired more than one doll.

    4. I only wanted one...but ended up with 5 (all of them impulse buys) xD
I realised I couldn't manage so many dolls; My 'doll space' was getting cluttered, there were clothes, elastics, hooks of different sizes everywhere... So one day I posted them all for sale and started from scratch ^^
Now I plan to keep just a single doll, which (I hope) will come soon and I'll treat him like royalty >8D

    5. Maybe not completely ontopic, but... I find it hilarious to go back at the early pages of this thread and see all the people who said "One will be enough!" in '09, who now have 3+ dolls listed in their signature as being at home. Ohh BJD Hobby, never say never eh? XD

As for me... I sometimes wish I could cut down to just 1 (maybe 2) for all the reasons everyone said they'd only have 1. Just to spoil them to pieces. But I enjoy the rush of buying a new doll too much, I seriously doubt this will happen to me. I can only hope I'll be able to cut down to a handful of special dolls and be happy there

    6. I haven't got a BJD yet, but I'm planning to only own one. It's already a pain in the ass to save money, and I'm afraid when I'll get more than one, some of them wont get enough attention. Also, I would like to spoil my dolls a lot in stead of buying more dolls to spoil myself. Maybe I'll eventually buy a Tiny as companion? I don't know for sure. xD

    7. I currently have just one BJD and he didn't even get here in the mail yet xD I could live with one doll. Though I would like more, it's just a matter of money. They are expensive and saving up can be slow.

    8. One really is enough for me at this point, though that'll likely change later since it seems to happen to everyone who says "one is enough."

    9. I've got a second on order, and I want a head to practice painting!

    10. I currently only have one (unfinished) girl, but that is because of the cost. I plan on having many more someday. ^^ I think she is lonely. :( I would like to have at least one in almost every size, and multiples of the larger sizes for interaction photos. ^^

    11. I only have my D-L Maya at the moment, and i only want one other doll, which would have to be female. I do have urges to buy dolls, quite frequently, but as a uni student, my money is needed elsewhere, so she'll have to wait until my birthday, next year. I also think i'd feel pretty guilty if i gave more attention to one doll than the other..

    12. I technically will have two when my second arrives, but my first is 27cm and off-topic. My second is a Dollfie Dream, which I know I will love very much! I've wanted a Dollfie Dream for 8(?) years, but due to expense I got my 27cm off-topic.
I figure that my Dollfie Dream won't be my last but she will be my only 60cm for a while.

There's nothing wrong with just one doll, but there's a lot more you can do with more than one doll. Like, photo stories, group photos, ect. But with just one doll, you get to spoil him/her with all you love and affection... Oh yeah and you're money xD

    13. Why do you only have one doll?
-Although I did take the prices into consideration, I thought that I wouldn't find much use for a second doll - I wouldn't really know what to do with it. I always felt that just one was enough. :)

Have you had the urge to buy another doll?
-I only had urges to buy a different sculpt from the company of my intended first doll as soon as I had all the money saved up.

How did you fight this urge?
-I sat on it and gave it some more thought. I had all the money, after all. It wouldn't have hurt to think it over a little longer to sort out which sculpt I really, really wanted.

    14. Never say never.
At the time being I devote so much time, money and love to my doll. I feel i would be unable to play with others, to be as devote as I am to my Rosa.
And I have no space yet.
So one and the only as yet.

      But never say never.

    15. Why do you only have/want one doll?
I only have one doll because I am really tight on money right now....being a teenager is hard! :doh

Have you had the urge to buy another doll?

Yes I have, all the time. I'm currently planning to get another boy

How did you fight this urge?

I cant!! Its too strong!! :...(

    16. I used to say that as well
I think the secret might be spoiling the one you have for a few years, and then, buying new dolls now and then, so one can have the time (and money) needed to sufficiently spoil each one of them.

    17. I only have a single doll at the moment, and some which I would love to get in the near future when I can finally afford to purchase another one. But for now, my girl is practically spoilt for choice when it comes to clothes, wigs, etc since they all belong to her only, and definitely showered with love and care since I practically have one to focus on~

    18. I only have a Crobidoll Yeon Ho and for a long time after I recieved him, I wasn't sure if I was ever going to buy another one. He wasn't what I expected at first and took awhile to get used to so I thought "He should be the only one". After a month of contemplating this, I changed my mind because why limit myself to just one when I've grown to seriously adore my Yeon Ho? So, yes, originally I was going to stop at 1.

    19. Hi ...currently I only have one doll she's a bbb espree... since I'm a newbie I only have one...but I'm planning to buy lots of bjd in the future I...but right now I'm happy with eris....I don't mind the price since I bought mine 2nd hand and ill buy 2nd dolls in the future(I don't like waiting soooo long) hahaha

    20. I kinda get the feeling that money constraint is a big factor. On the other hand I never really thought that I would have more than one. but after buying my first, I couldn't help but buy more...
