1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Forum loneliness because of rarer dolls

Aug 18, 2011

    1. I don't often hang out in the specific doll discussion threads unless I need info or have something incoming. Then when I get the doll I usually drop out again.I follow a FEW but not religiously. I did try to revive the Quino thread which is pretty dead! Not too many people interested in them...

But I think fashion threads, gallery posts, LJ, and the games section are all good places to hang out. I like the gallery, news event-chat threads, and general discussion!

Heck, why not find a place for a thread about my thread is dead dolls? That'd be fun!

    2. I don't know...perhaps this thread would be of interest to you:

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...-(Not-limiteds!)&highlight=underrated+sculpts

For myself...my doll is still to come. He is a hybrid, a very unpopular head on a right now "hot" body.

As I want to sew a lot of clothes for him (these bigger boys are so much more fun to make clothing for), I guess I will spend a good time in the sewing etc. forum...I can show my attempts in face-ups. I hope to make him a bed someday...such things.

Be he unpopular or not, but perhaps some of you have such talents? Then you can also show your dolls.

    3. Aww! My AiL boys seem lonely as the company threads seem absolutely dead... :( Luckily the Dollstown discussion is alive and kicking!

    4. Well, as owning popular as well as rare dolls I´ve noticed that here in DoA rare dolls get quite rarely interest and attention. No chance for similar discussion possibilities as with the popularly owned dolls have.

So, I do post some pics and info of the rare dolls in here time by time, for the people which may be seeking owner pics and info of them, but mostly I enjoy DoA in Fairyland doll discussions and other lively threads, and share the rare dolls more in Flickr and smaller forums and meet-ups where they get more of the attention. :)

Still though I enjoy the forums and the sociality of this hobby, I still think it´s only one part of this hobby. I have accepted that there are certain dolls of mine which get time on camera and others which are most for cuddlying and squeeing. That doesn´t bother me.

    5. I've been feeling this a bit lately. Most of my dolls are popular enough that I can find multiple threads to show them off and chat about them, but one girl in perticular (who happens to be my favorite) is not popular at all.
I know it's nothing personal, that the forum moves quickly and people click on threads for their favorite sculpts first (I do it myself), but it still stings when you put so much love and work into a doll, taking photos of them and then you can't share your excitement with anyone.

    6. Hmm, I know how you feel. If you only collect a certain kind of doll, like I do, it's hard to fit in. I was thinking of getting a more popular doll soon, and some of the reasoning was that I'd be able to share her more in forums and flickr groups.
I still do read the forums, as I love the hobby and the people in it. But lacking dolls to share has made me more of a lurker than a poster. . .

    7. While one of my dolls is not from an 'unpopular' company, her sculpt is not particularly common around the forums. I treat it as kind of an interesting encounter to know that there's someone on the forum (and corresponding threads) that has the same sculpt as I do, and to see what that person has done with it.

And people like seeing uncommon dolls because what you've done with it might inspire someone to get that doll. And what they do with it might inspire someone else to get one, too. You have to flaunt your doll in other parts of the forum - like picture requests, games, and gallery - so that more people get to see your doll. Some people might just not know that this doll exists, and are missing out on what this company, or sculpt, has.

    8. I dont talk much in the specific doll forum haha. I own dolls all from different company and I post mainly in the general sections haha. Owning something less common is actually more fun then owning somethings thats common anyway to me :D

    9. I feel that way sometimes. While my doll isn't extremely rare (in this case I am thinking about Angel reigion Natural Tanning Cien) it from a company that isn't the big thing. The discussion thread is nothing much. A couple helpful facts. Some photos. The gallery is nice. But sometimes I wish there were more owners posting photos. (Oh there's Kit again, oh hi Nico.) And there's a lot of broken photos.

In the most part it doesn't bother me, but because of my work, working odd shifts and weekends. I don't get to be part of my area's doll community which pushes me to DoA more.

    10. my doll is not rare but is not popular. I do not feel lonely. I have gone through many of these threads and found places to comment about my unpopular doll.
