1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

French Versus Urethane Resins

Jun 1, 2010

    1. Personally, I love French resin. Yes, it does seem to yellow rather quickly but generally turns a soft peachy yellow when it does. My WS Narin from years & years ago didn't really turn yellow, just a pale cream that makes him look like a gorgeous antique wax doll. And my tan Narea doesn't seemed to have changed at at.
My Unidolls are a great shade of peachy gold. Perhaps I just love the yellowish look.

But really, it's entirely what you like. Tan French resin dolls seem to change the least.

    2. Considering I dislike most white resin for how they yellow compared to normal skin, I'm not a fan of french resin. I agree that they can look more realistic compared to normal urethane, but some cheaper french resins can look like wax.

I agree, MSC UV cut and other similar sealants will definitely help in the long run. But honestly, unless you accidently leave him in the sun for hours, you probably won't notice the yellowing (until you compare him to a newer HZ french resin doll).

    3. Here's a photo of him as of recently, again, he has not yellowed or anything. He looks stunning in my honest opinion, but this certainly isn't pink resin, I'm wondering if they made a mistake. XD Yeah, and as you can see, he quite literally glows in day light. XD

    4. Oh, French resin does in fact glow, look at my reply to Cloaked Schemer, and tell me it doesn't.

    5. I have an ancient Souldoll made with the french resin. Ash was made in 2004. I am his only owner and I have kept him with my other resin dolls, in a room that is dim and cool. He is a wonderful color of old light parchment. I love his color, as I love Piccadilly Lucas' color.

Like anything, if you take care of it, it will age better.

    6. This is a really useful thread. I had heard of yellowing being an issue with BJD dolls but wa not sure how widespread the problem was. My experience is with Blythe, where our major concerns are plate cracking and dye transfer on the body, and I thought those things were stressful!

I have been offered a 5stardoll french resin MSD in exchange for one of my custom Blythes and with this information, I am having second thoughts as to whether she will be the right girl for me afterall!
