1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Nov 20, 2008

    1. Wow, brilliant article! Thanks for sharing that!

    2. This is awesome!! Love the end quote too xD

Wish there were more article that are so well informed =D

    3. Thanks for taking the time to scan the article. I am fairly new and still learning and it was much appreciated.

    4. I never even knew about that mag D: Hopefully I can find a Dec '08 copy somewhere on ebay.

      Thanks for the scans <3

    5. wow. first time reading through an magazine article! this was awesome!(now lets just hope that this hobby doesnt get tooo crowded!!)

    6. It was a good article. At the begining I was a little skeptical ("would you spend $600 on a doll?") but by the end I didn't feel as if it was condesending. And I laughed at the end. Thumbs up!

    7. YAY!! Bjds are getting more widely known!!

    8. haha It is kind of funny hearing beryl refereed to as new and recent
But in all seriousness a cool article, thanks for sharing!

    9. Wow, that was brill! Thanks for the scans, Shiroi. Sorry I missed this when it came out.

Leave it to Geek Monthly: the first BJD feature in a non-doll magazine without a single detectable trace of condescension! :thumbup

    10. Thanks for the scans~ It was a great article ^___^

    11. Lovely article. My only complaint is that, like most ABJD histories, the article skips over that period when they were mainly art dolls in Japan. It was after their popularity there, as pieces sculpted as true "one offs" by artists like Yoshida, that Volks began to "mass" produce them.

The author is on DoA? The post with the scans lists a username.

    12. Thanks for the scans! I love Geek, but it doesn't always show up in my local bookstore (every so often I see it there, but not always). Besides, even if I had seen it on the stands, I might not have picked it up-- trying to spend less on magazines (and more on dolls *grin*).

      =^__^=

    13. Haha, well, the article could only be so long! And he was on DoA. I don't think he comes here anymore, but he did frequent the forum when he was writing the article and even attended some of the NYC meetups.
