Gender Preference?

Feb 16, 2017

    1. I prefer female dolls but a few boys in the mix are fun too. One of my characters is androgynous and will always remain just a faceplate, they body-hop and like to steal/inhabit/possess the male and female bodies equally!

    2. Definitely boys. Mainly because so many of them are androgynous looking and I just don't like many female sculpts.

    3. I'm definitely biased towards female dolls. Had a guy doll and I just couldn't bond with him :sweat

    4. I think I have an unintentional female bias. Most of my characters are female. All of my other types of doll are female. It's definitely not that I hate male sculpts or anything, it has just turned out that way.

    5. I've found that I like way more male dolls than female dolls. I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other, though; it just so happens that more male dolls have an aesthetic I like.

    6. I think I like girls more (I have had 7 girls and 1 boy) I love the clothes for girls and they're easier to bond with. But I want the mix and have at least three boys on my wishlist :dance

    7. I don't really have a gender preference with dolls, but I do find myself eyeing up male dolls a little more.
I just find I prefer a less curvy figure. I find a lot of have female dolls have a bust and hip size that doesn't quite do it for me (I'm not a fan of large and oversized chests).

    8. Most of my characters are women, so I will most likely always end up having more female than male dolls. Also, I just find the female body more aesthetically pleasing. uwu

    9. I don't have any dolls, but looking at them I think I have a large preference towards male dolls. A lot of the female dolls just seem to have too large hips or breasts for my tastes

    10. I have both but, the boys out number the girls two to one.

    11. I only collect boys and have no intention of purchasing girls. I've been in the hobby for going on 9 years now and still don't want any girls in my group. My guys are characters from my novels and the genre I write is gay erotica so it stands to reason that I have a giant sausage-fest going on with my collection. I do have female characters in my novels, but they are entirely secondary/support and none of them demand to be shelled as dolls (which my wallet is extremely grateful for).

I do toy with the idea every now and again of getting a doll like the Elfdoll Catsy to be the personification of Bast, but I never go any further than thinking about it because I'm really not into girl dolls. Any time I browse the MP (which is probably more frequently than I should *guilty look*), I never purposefully click on sales I know are girl dolls either.

    12. While I don't have a doll yet, I feel like I'm about even in my preference.

BUT! I have noticed that it's a lot easier for me to find girl dolls that I like, than boys.

I'm much too picky about them I think, since if I'm gonna have a boy doll, I want it to be like a MAN doll, and so it's a bit difficult for me to find a one that has a good balance in the face -- not androgynous, but also not muscle man like...

    13. I like male dolls. I never seem to become attached to the female ones and lose interest in them really quickly.

    14. I like both, but seem to be favoring guys for the moment. Maybe fashion dolls' lack of many interesting make sculpts is leading me in this direction since now I'm spoiled for choice.

    15. I'm more attached to girl dolls than boy. I like seeing all kind of dolls but if I asked what to buy, I definitely pick girls. My wishlist is perfectly reflecting it lol :XD:
I feel girl fashions is more fun to do and fulfil what I clothes I like but will never wear it myself

    16. I'm more attached to male dolls then female. However my favorite doll at the moment is a female but she dresses like a guy and her character acts like a guy haha. I can't do girly girls for the life of me.

    17. Definitely girls. I just like girls and femininity better in like....every way on every level of my life haha. I don't really have any plans for boy dolls other than crazy lottery fantasies of having the money to shell a couple of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure characters as pretty dolls :sweat

    18. I prefer girls, i think girl dolls catch my eye a lot easier than boys! i do have a single boy who is floating around...

    19. i'm more into boys, but i would also like to have a one or two girl sculpts.

    20. Currently I only have plans for female BJD characters, I think mainly because I'm still sad that it's hard for me to find films, TV shows, etc that I enjoy that don't have a nearly all-male cast with maybe one token Smurfette character. Media represention has definitely been getting better over the last few years, but there's still plenty of room for improvement, so my favourite examples of stories about women are still mostly from roleplaying games with friends rather than other people's media, and I've carried that over into the characters I shell into BJDs.

For the same reason, I'd like to have some characters who are trans, non-binary, gender-nonconforming men, all of the above, etc, but since I'm a cis woman it's harder for me to think of characters who are good examples of other kinds of gender representation.

Not to say that I would never shell a character who is a masculine straight cis white dude, or that other people are doing it wrong if that describes their whole crew! It's a very personal preference, and the world needs more cute dolls of all kinds.
