General Mecha Angel discussion thread!

Just gotta share with everyone - Andreas, my Antares arrived yesterday. OMG I love him. He has the most unusual face and is great to photograph (ummm, yesterday I took over 300 pictures, kind of to get to know him, and the more I took, the more I fell in love with him.....sigh.....)

 

Tygati - You're right! Goldfish looks perfect in that Ender outfit! The colors and style complement him well.

And yay! First Antares I've seen get home! ^____^ I have one more payment on mine yet.
Looks like your guy is checking the place over! And it sounds like he's a keeper, what with three hundred shots on the first day alone! heh heh Love at first sight, eh?

 

Ooooh! I've been greatly eagerly awaiting owner pics of Antares! He is beautiful! I love the 'family' resemblance to Sabik, though he definitely has his own look. I can't wait to get mine home.

 

Antares! *__* Oh, he is lovely. I keep telling myself I don't need any new dolls, but those new Mechas are mighty tempting...

 

Tangier~ Thanks for posting pictures of Antares. He is lovely and now I know I am glad I got him....I still have one more payment to go on his layaway, so I can drool over yours in the meantime!!!! Congrats!!!!

 

I hope all of you post photos of your Antares, too. I'd love to see them. He certainly does have a touch of the Sabik in him, especially at a certain angle. At first I didn't think he looked like the promo pics, but now I really don't care and will keep his default face up. Did anyone get him without a face up? Here is another view of Andreas and then I will quit spamming ... for today at least.

 

Antares is beautiful. That's a great default faceup, nice thick eyebrows. He has a bit of the Idealian look about him (big eyes, square jaw). . . .

 

Tangier, yay the first Antares, congratulations! He's really beautiful big boy!

 

Thank you AnitaS and egura for your kind words! Andreas appreciates the attention! You know, Anita, you have a good point there. I wonder if Soom started him out as Idealian72 but didn't have the time to think out a story and costume, so they just made him a Mecha, no story needed, really. It is about time for a new Idealian72, because they did two 52s, Cuba and Hornblend. I am getting nervous about what they might have next because it will be wonderful and desirable, as usual.

 

Antares resembling Sabik? Here it is! (an informational picture, not spam, guys, lol). Of all the angles I shot, this one just said "Sabik" to me. One other angle was from the back with about a 3/4 head turn but I could not capture the shadowing. Amazing, isn't he? And if you hold him up and back with good lighting you can see teeth, or what looks like teeth way inside his mouth. Painted over in that dark gloss but I am tempted to experiment and maybe paint them a subtle white. The more you play with him the more you will see of him; he really "comes out" with play. Love this guy! Hope to see many many pics of your Antares soon!

 

Tangier you boy is SO beautiful - hoping my Antares might be here either Saturdayor early next week, in the meantime, can you post all your 300 pics to keep me going?!

Thank you, Scarlett Empress and Grarartiam. Will be posting lots of spam on Flickr, just took another 305 pictures but most are bad - I guess Andreas wasn't in the mood. Re his glare, he does have a very prominent little frown that shows in certain lighting! I did not expect that as it doesn't show in Soom's pictures. He is just full of delightful surprises. I am insanely in love with him.

 

Hi again - I just started a Database for Soom Mecha Angel Antares. It has been submitted to the Mods for approval. So if it does get approved, I hope you all will post your Shining Star into the database. (whoa, who knew he was named after a large red star in the constellation of Scorpio?) Our picture count is up to around 800 now, I am not kidding. This guy loves the camera, or loves me so much he ain't complainin'!! Thank God for digital photography, he would cost me a fortune in film....

Antares is Ant - "not", and Ares - Greek version of Roman Mars, in other words = Not Mars
Because the star is large and reddish, just as Mars appears in the night sky. We have Ares (Mars), and Antares (NotMars). ^___^
Barsoom is the name for Mars in Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess of Mars. But... like in the old Biblical times, "bar" = son of, as in "Simon bar-Jonah"... sooooooo... as this Antares is from Soom... voila: Barsoom!

Small side note: Antares is the red heart of Scorpio, the scorpion. Another reason for it to be red.

LOL, seems like Sabik, Saiph, Vega, Deneb, Bellatrix, are stars too :P
I don't know if Betel, Corvi, Meisa are stars too or not, I wonder?

 

Yep, all of the Mechas are stars. Corvi is from the Corvus constellation and Betel is Betelgeuse, Meisa is Meissa both from the Orion constellation.

 

Wow, I appreciate the information about the Soom stars! How about Rex and Vega? Or, I should look it up myself, duhhh lazy me!

The Antares Database has been approved and is up! I will start it off - please please you guys, post your beautiful Red Stars! Would love to see all of them!

And, this is a study picture, not spam (lol) to show Andreas's teeth! Yep, has fangs hidden in that dark paint, waaaay in there, and will bite (I hope!) Still a WIP, because I had to re-do them three times and they need a bit of fine-tuning. I am definitely not a face up artist! So here is "Fang" in all his toothsome glory.
