General Mecha Angel discussion thread!

I think I'm amazed at how much a difference clothing can make on a bod. ._.

I totally saw the pics of Vezeto-head-on-MA-Bod-In-A-Suit and he looked -SHARP-. Like, man was he ever rocking that look.

With the long legs, though, are the MA bods hard to carry?

I have a couple of 70cm dolls, and they can be a little bit of a challenge when it comes to carrying them, just because so much of their legs tend to dangle down/their legs are that long.

EDIT: MA KITS ARE UP. I caved and bought Antares-kit. And a wig. And a pair of shoes. And really genuinely hoping Soom gives me clothes for him.

The male Mecha Angel body is very light, in fact even lighter than my Iplehouse SID boy.
The female Mecha Angels are extreeeeeemly heavy though.

So I definitely don't find Antares difficult to carry at all. But then I only move my dolls from room to room. I don't go out anywhere with them.

Congrats on buying your doll! I was beginning to think they weren't actually going to put up Mecha Angel kits. I'm really jealous though... Wish I had known this deal was going to come up. I felt like the full prices of the Mecha Angels were kind of high. The kits are a much fairer price.

Plus it looks like they are offering normal skin for Bellatrix in the kit.... At the last order they only offered her in tawny skin and I wanted her in normal T_T

I am sorely tempted to buy a Saiph... I have sooo many dolls already though.... and so little money. Wish they would sell heads only.

 

I once carried a Mecha Angel boy for about four hours, up and down a cliff and across a beach. I was tired, but it's doable. I just wouldn't recommend the cliff part. :P

I don't have any more issues posing my Mechas than I do with my SuperGems. They're not the most poseable bodies out there, but they're not the least either. The long and lanky look works for my two, so I'm happy. ^^

Mmm, Antares kit... tempting. But I'm already feeling the itch of too-many-dolls-in-house, so I will probably pass and continue to simply enjoy from afar. :3

 

Were you carrying him in the standard "sitting on arm" way that whole time?

The up and down the cliff part sounds intense. Hopefully you got a good photoshoot out of it, at least. ._.;

I generally carry mine like a shotgun. lol I stand him straight and tall, put his feet in the palm of one hand, and then rest his chest against my shoulder.
Usually looking at passersby over said shoulder. Makes for some interesting reactions.

Shotgun carrying. I'll have to remember that when I eventually get to taking my Antares out places, lol. That sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to carry a guy like that for awhile.

Also: Thank you! ! He'll also be my first Kit, so it should be fun. I'm really hoping Soom gives him pants or something for the freebie. Would be ultra handy if they did. XD;

 

No, I had a doll carrier (DollZone 70cm fits Mechas) for the cliff parts, which were not supposed to be there in the first place but my mother is insane. ^^; Across the beach, though, he was "sitting" as he's my Vega Last Song and fish-boy doesn't really do much standing. *laugh*


As for clothes, I tend to commission Ayase001 because I can't sew myself and she does really good work.

Hi owners what size eyes do you use in your dolls? and does the 9-10 inch wig fit?
I am seriously thinking about buying one with the christmas event

 

I have 14mm eyes in my Antares and Bellatrix and 9-10 inch wigs on both of them.

 

i just ordered a Vega boy but on Layaway, but i cant wait to get him. i found the wig i want for him but sadly its just a 8-9 inch so i might buy 2 and make it fit :P
its kinda hard finding beautiful eyes in 14 mm, all the ones i find that i like only comes in 16 :S

 

I always buy my wigs and eyes from Taobao sellers, they are a LOT cheaper and have a lot more options. You can get the same eyes for $5 or $6 that people would charge you $25 or $35 on an English site. This is my favorite shop for eyes:

Because you have to use an overseas buying agent and there are certain buying costs involved with that, though it's only really worth it to place an order with a taobao shop if you're buying a few things at once.

I wrote a tutorial about buying from Taobao and it looks complicated, because I tried to cover everything that I could think of, but it's actually pretty easy to do. If you're interested though because you have a hard time finding good 14mm eyes, here's my tutorial. I think you should be able to see it even if you aren't registered on this forum. I'm going to put this tutorial on my website one of these days...

I'll be ordering a Bellatrix soon, so I figured I could subscribe and take part to this discussion I was excited about her being offered in NS as the kit since then I could get the high heel shoe parts for her as well, but after asking from Soom about it they actually answered that Bellatrix is and will be only offered in tawny and the X-mas kit is tawny too, even though it said normal skin... They now updated a small mention about this on the X-mas kit sales page.

I've never seen a tawny Soom IRL, so I'm curious about the skin tone and not sure if I'd like it... But I just need to order since I'm so excited about this character I have in mind >.< I would've loved to get the resin heels for her, but now I'll just need to search for some ladylike shoes that fit.

 

That's too bad about the Bellatrix resin color, safir. I like the tawny resin, but it would have been nice to see how she looked in a different color. I have had good luck with Dollmore model shoes fitting the regular MA high heel feet.

 

Yeah :/ It's also weird that they're offering the tawny skin for the same price as normal, I would've expected it to cost more like with all others, Gem dolls, Idealians, etc.

Good to know about the shoes though! I noticed some other people had written about DM Model shoes also, but I'm not sure if there're any that would fit my girl's style Iplehouse has gorgeous shoes for their EID/SID ladies, I wonder if those would fit? Some of the styles would be just perfect.

 

I have a pair of iple heels that I can try on my Deneb for you. Didnt occur to me to check!

 

Oh that'd be great if you could do that! And I'd also appreciate if you could let me know which pair you have As there could be small differences in the sizes of different heels. I have one pair coming with my Iplehouse order too, but I won't be able to try them on my girl for a while since it'll probably take the usual 2-3 months for Soom to make her.. If Iplehouse shoes are a good fit I could add some to my order before it ships and have some shoes ready for Bellatrix

 

they did the same thing to me when I ordered my Bellatrix in August The announcement said that all dolls were normal skin, but when I asked them, they said Bellatrix would only be available in tawny, but I really wanted her, so I bought her anyway. The color is a little on the orangey-red side. I didn't like it so much at first, but got used to it after a while. I'm thinking/hoping it will yellow into a less vibrant color after a while.
