1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I agree with you iris0110, there needs to be more people like you. ^_^

Like I said in this thread elsewhere, I'm a straight guy getting a girl doll and have been receiving some teasing remarks about it. It would be nice if someday people can just like what they like and not have to feel guilty for it.

In any case, I just shrug it off. I guess you can't expect everyone to "get it".

    2. Your husband is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
      /flail

HOW AWESOME IS IT THAT HE HAS PINK HAIR AND LIKES YAOI?! /faint

edit/ I would never tease anyone for their likes. I'd probably just love them more. I have my share of kooky interests so I would be a hypocrite to tease anyone anyway. Whenever I go to the thread that has pictures of people with their dolls it makes my heart thump. I especially love to see the boys and men who have the huge smiles on their faces while holding their babies. <3
(To me) it's something different, and these things I've never seen before always make my heart trill.

    3. I know your feeling. The "normals" think that dolls = girls. I don't really see BJDs as being particularily gender specific. Same for your comment PinkPlushii.

A lot of my MTF friends like the dollies, and my crossdressing friends love them. The FTMs I know tend to be collectors :).

    4. i don't actually personally know guys who collect dolls, and most of my friends (especially the "newer" friends, since i just got into a new school this year) don't really know that i collect dolls. but the people who know, the guys (and girls) are all rather interested in it.

besides the whole dolls=girl thing, there's also commonly a girls=female dolls theory that my family have. which i found a lot of guys i know to have too. wonder why? though when i say i have a male doll, they kind of go...OH yeah. cos i'm a more ...guyish girl, i guess.

    5. I was just thinking though. I absolutely believe that if I were straight my parents would be absolutely against me collecting BJDs. But since I'm not they are more okay with it. They will still protest but not as much. Society sucks sometimes...silly gender roles!

    6. was I supposed to hit on you :P ?

    7. Its really interesting to me how many women have boyfriends or husbands that got into collecting dolls after they did - I thought it was more rare than it is! My husband always copies me and he eventually started amassing his own dolls as well. He has very different taste than me, my dolls are spritely forest dwellers, his are cheerleaders / dominatrix types LOL

    8. I'm One of those several straight male collectors that collects bjds in our local group. I don't cosplay how ever.

    9. Whatever floats your boat. :-D
      I wouldn't if I were you, though, I'm still a minor. 8-D

    10. writtenlullabye, I would love to take all of the credit but I have to say my hubby sets a really great example for the kids, and I think that means a lot to them. Sometimes I will find myself thinking "Why would a man do that?" and then I will realize a man can do whatever he wants and it is none of my business why he is doing it. Or I will think "I should really have hubby do this since I'm a girl" and again, there is no reason for that. I try not to let gender hangups get in the way but I do still have to consciously consider it from time to time. I am hoping that my kids won't have these hang ups at all. So far they seem to be much freer than I feel like my generation was so I am hopeful. I wish there was a way to keep society from pressuring them but I guess you never learn to stand up for your beliefs if those beliefs aren't tested from time to time. They know hubby and I are always behind them to support them.

Averis Thank you. And congratulations on your girl. DODs are gorgeous dolls. You are right, shrug it off and keep going. Maybe it will make other people think.

DoubleJoints I think so too. LOL He was the one who introduced me to anime conventions and yaoi. I'd been watching anime since I was a child but had no idea about the greater world of fandom and collecting out there. So he is indirectly responsible for my finding, and eventually collecting, dolls. After he saw a DOI for the first time he was hooked too.

Yokyun and you collect some amazing girl dolls. It was nice getting to catch up with you again at Akon and if we don't see you before then we will see you at Animefest.

    11. I have heard it is about 10-15 percent male on DoA. Has anyone seen any stats on males and dolls in the general population? My feeling is that we all know people that get into different kinds of stuff. My son is into anime, my wife collects vintage Barbie and I discover BJD. I think I see a pattern here.:sneaky

    12. I told my mom about my doll and now she's like all worried. First she was like I don't know, but she does think they are pretty and wouldn't mind if I was a girl. She thinks it is weird that I have a doll as a guy, but whatever. My room is full of stuffed animals already.

    13. I don't personally know any guys out there that are into it, but I know there are guys that are and it makes me happy! I'm also an anime nerd and I think anime nerd guys are awesome~
My dad likes them, but I dunno if he'd get his own. He mostly just wants to help me with mine! My step-father likes my head that has gore mods, but is generally critical because I'm seen as "one of the guys" in my house and to them dolls = girly.
My older brother is impressed with my dedication, and my younger stepbrothers couldn't care less.
I do have a brand new half-brother, and I totally plan to introduce him to dolls at an early age so when he grows up he'll like them :wiggle
My mutual love interest is a Rozen Maiden fan but widely uninterested, so I'm tempted to lure him in using a Volks Suigintou XD

    14. It's fun because we get to share clothes/accessories/props and he does the photography for my photostories. My fiance is still scared to dress them because he thinks he is going to hurt them. :)

BTW my fiance is straight. I think he is embarrassed to say he collects them but we have fun. He always get dragged to the meet ups anyway. He always wants to pose her with AKs, assault rifles, and glocks while I on the other hand want her in frilly dresses.

    15. Sigh, I'd love to date a guy who collects BJD! If he were a brolita too I think I'd die! Well, that's it for this girl's fantasy lol.:aheartbea

    16. Hello, well I am a guy age 40 who collects dolls. Yes I am gay but, as we have seen in this thread orientation doesn't exactly dictate if you collect dolls or not. I have found most BJD collectors to be young. I find it more of a challenge finding collectors around my own age. Male or female isn't an issue for me. I have three male SD"s 6 female SD's and 2 female msd's. My girls are just more fun to style my boys are more difficult to sew for so I wind up not doing as much with them. I think the fact that I do not "play" with any of my dolls sets me out of the lop as well. Family and close friends find the hobby interesting and gasp at what I will pay for a doll.

    17. This is sort of what is happening with my sons. The dolls have been around for several years now (since my oldest was 6 and my youngest was 2ish) so they are just used to them. It is only natural that they have an interest in something hubby and I spend so much time on. They are also crazy for anime and manga. It's just what is normal in our house.

    18. I have met only a few male doll collectors and I gotta say, I am definately more interested in them because of it.... however when addressing the public at large I think it really depends on situations and who youre dealing with.
Really conservative people who believe in gender roles might not be so accepting, but I think more openminded people wont really care.
Although I love hearing about Guys who collect, makes me kinda hope I'll meet one one day and we'll live in a big doll house.....

    19. I would love to know more boys who collect - most of the friends I've made so far that I meet up with (though they live kind of far away) are girls, and very few are boys. I agree with chaoticteacup, I'd love to find a guy who collected and marry him and collect together. If not then he's just gonna have to get used to my dolls and I'll force him into buying his own. >: D

    20. I don't know if I need a guy I'm with to collect dolls too as long as he appreciates them and doesn't think it is super weird. I will be happy as long as I have a few friends that are close by that collect.
