1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. I'm a girl and I love both. Until I can get my hands on a MSD Boy and an SD16/17 boy, I only have girls. But regardless, I love them both!

    2. I'm female, and have both a boy and girl doll, but in general I prefer boys... (although it's hard for me to dress them, because I like frilly clothing.... =A=; Oops.)

    3. I'm female and personally I prefer female dolls. I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with outfits I can put them in. I just love dresses...and would feel weird sticking a skirt on a male doll.

    4. I have all girls but I'm open to a boy doll; if money were no object I'd get a Unoa boy.

    5. Female and prefer male dolls. Although, what frustrates me about the males is finding one that isn't "wimpy". Children have a bit of an excuse, but dolls that are supposed to be teens or adults that look like tall children don't do much for me. I'm new to the hobby so I haven't seen all there is to see, (mostly window shopping <_<) but that's a thing for me. I would be open to a female with a mature face though. But you know, that's all relative.

    6. I will mainly be a girl owner. All the dolls I've had in mind are girls and I always reflect my interests on the doll.

I love morigirl fashion so that will be reflected on the doll I dress up depending on the dolls main physical appearance (my ACB is into this style as well as my future Pukifee). If I plan on getting a character doll, they'd be adult females because my OCs have all been female and their personal style tends to follow urban outfitters, anthropologie, retro revival, and lookbook.nu which is also what I'm into.

forgot to mention I'm female too XP

    7. I myself am female and really have no preference. Though a lot of the dolls on my wishlist are male, it isn't because I prefer them over the girls, it's just I'm having a hard time finding any girls that really call to me. I have only found a couple girls that I would even by so far. I suppose the sculpts for the girls bother me a bit much with their wide eyes and their overly sweet looks. I like my girls to look cunning and conniving, and a lot of the girls I've found so far just don't have that look for me. But if I found one, I'd definitely get her.

    8. I prefer male dolls (and i am female) because I find them prettier. Some of the female dolls are pretty as well but the make me uncomfortable. I'm not sure why. It may have been my experiences with Barbie dolls hahaha

    9. I'm female, and I definitely prefer boys. I honestly can't see myself actually buying a girl, though I won't entirely rule it out. I'm just much more attracted to the boys. :3nodding:

    10. I'm female and I prefer girl BJDs.

I can buy beautiful clothes and dress up for them, they can wear any style clothes that I can't wear in real life.

When my dolls wear gorgeous clothes, they satisfy my desire.

    11. I prefer the girl dolls. Mainly because there is so much more you can do with Girl dolls. The hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, etc.
There is a huge availability and variety compared to the boys. With the girl dolls, your creativity, and artisitc talents can soar
The boy dolls don't appeal to me. Oh, and I'm female.

    12. Yes! I agree, they're only cheating themselves out of what could be a very enjoyable hobby! It's funny really, I had an ex-bf when I collected Blythes who only liked one in particular, he was quite protective of her as well. My dad too, he was a bit "meh" about the dolls when they started arriving, but I've found he really loves the girly girls. But they have to be sweet looking and more on the kiddish side. It's weird, I thought he would have liked the more manly dolls, I even have a pirate! But nope, totally not what I expected XD

    13. 30yo guy here with 1 doll and another on the way. I haven't really had any negative reactions as I only really talk about my doll to people who I think would be fairly positive about them.
The nearest I've had to a negative comment was one of my friends sneering at my anime figurines as being dolls, but I just replied that in that case all our Games Workshop miniatures were just dolls too, and so what's the problem? Needless to say he's one of the friends I just don't bother bringing up the subject of BJDs with, and probably won't unless I'm doing something "manly" with them (such as the project to incorporate robotics into one).

    14. Hahaha! Most BJD collecters in my country whom I know in real life are (surprisingly) guys xD
At first, my mother was strongly against me collecting dolls as she is creeped out by them. However, when she found out that its a BJD I was going to buy and not a Blythe (which was extremely popular in my country back then), she was ok with it.
Eventhough my family members do not support me, they are not against me as all of them have their own eccentric hobbies as well.
As for my friends, the female are either amused or creeped out by the dolls and the male thought I'm a real pervert (they thought the doll is life-sized xD)

    15. As a girl i find it awsome that guys can collect the dolls and be proud of it! I just wish there where more male collectors where i live....(I'm hopping to find a guy that collects dolls too)....I think it's great that guys can collect dolls. We need more of them!

    16. Well, I'm a male, 22, and I have all male dolls at the moment (and when I say male I mean MALE), and I'm one of maybe 3 or 4 doll boys in my area. I think its not really surprising to my family since I have an extensive figure collection, and I used to play with my cousin's Barbies XD My non doll friends think its weird, but we all agree that weird makes life interesting, and that its a pretty neat hobby. Most of the negativity is based on how much I actually spend on my resin friends. But I don't really get any negative attention for the dolls themselves, even when I'm lugging around a 6 pound doll out in public.

Still funny that some people don't realize I'm a dude until they see me irl.

    17. My boyfriend doesn't have much against the dolls. Though he thinks it's a lot of money, which it is. But he has hobbies too that cost a lot. He doesn't care much. He just don't want our place to be full of creepy emo dolls ;3

    18. Well as im normal 28 y. guy, i still has many interests (but job make no time for them).
I think dolls (especially BJD) are piece of art, so this hobby applicable for both genders. All my friends think BJD are cute but too expensive (rather buy PS3 or XBOX360 game console), my family think im weird with seeing anime, collecting dolls and figures.

    19. My friend, whose a guy, was thinking of getting one a while ago. I'm pretty sure he's not actually going to get one, but still it was awesome to see a guy intrested in them and not saying 'wait that's a guy?' or 'Creepy'. I think it's really cool when guys get into the hobby, because BJDs really aren't that girly when you think about it.

    20. Well, still a guy, last time I checked, and yep, still into BJD at 50 years old. (and with the most adorable new granddaughter!)

There are some folks I've talked to about the dolls, (which both my wife and I enjoy - I got her started!) and some I haven't - and probably never will. At my full-time job, the political climate is very conservative - guys play with cars, cigars, electronics and baseballs. There, I suspect they wouldn't "get" the dolls very well. My parents are also pretty conservative, and tend to be rather snarky with their comments about such things. They've seen some of the dolls around our house, but haven't talked about them at all. "Don't ask, don't tell", I guess.

At my part-time job at the local aquarium, the climate is more politically liberal, and tolerant of individual quirks and variations - and a fair number of my co-workers there know about - and have met - the BJDs. One guy asked me to bring some in last weekend, after having seen Kippu, my Sei-Tenshi in a photo with my granddaughter. (He'd seen them on the 'net, and enjoys Rosen Maiden, so... there you go.) He seemed pretty impressed with them!

Either way, the way I see it, these dolls have brought me a _tremendous_ amount of joy, and I expect them to continue to - they're here to stay!!
