1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I'm a 20something girl, and I've got a pretty even collection. For the moment, I've got 2 boys for 3 girls, but once I've got all my "characters" together, I'll have one extra boy. I've never had a preference one way or the other, though it's much easier to find hair/shoes/clothes for girls!

And now that I know I've got an extra guy hanging around, I feel like I should get a girl to even it out, lol.

    2. I'm female and prefer girl dolls. I have one boy and three girls at the moment, and all future plans are female.

    3. I am also a 20 something female and with no preference for boys or girls. Though I might have a slight inclination towards girls since there are so many more options for them, but I plan to have the same # of girl dolls as boy dolls in the future.

    4. I'm also a female and I prefer boy dolls. They are somehow more appealing but there are several girls I've put my eyes on. I just can't be sure enough to buy one. :/

    5. I'm female and prefer boy dolls.

    6. I'm a female who prefers boys. It's not that I don't like female dolls, I just can't see myself owning one ^^;;

    7. Unfortunately female and have only male dolls so far. While some girl dolls might be pretty I don't see me owning one, I am just not interested in the female body. I am also more in the adult type of sculpt.

    8. Haha I guess the outcome was a bit predictable, I mean that the majority of people on here are females : )
I still don't think that BJD are a female oriented hobby, I mean just the fact that they are dolls doesn't make them female oriented. I think it's a lot about photography too, and just in general who said boys can't play with dolls? When I was a kid I played with cars.
I wonder if BJD doesn't appeal to guys because they conciser it girly?

I myself prefer male dolls, I don't think I even want a female one.

    9. It looks like I fit in the most popular category. I am female and most of my dolls are male. I think this is because when I was really young, the companies mainly had female dolls on the market until Bratz came along and I liked buying boys when I could.

    10. Boy checking in here, who collects only boys.

WOOHOO for being in the minority!!

    11. I'm female and I prefer to have equal numbers of both- but I think that's because I'm a little OCD. In reality, I am honestly more easily attracted to boy dolls, and it drives me nuts because I'd really prefer it to be even!

I've currently got 5 boys and 4 girls, and it's nearly perfect so I'm totally excited, but I've also got five male floating heads... Boy sculpts that I like are so much easier to find, maybe because I like boys in real life? (<-- total sucker for male beauty real or otherwise)

I mean, girls are nice and all, but I find that they're almost too easy to relate to, I want characters that are somehow outside my normal experience, and I guess that's why boys are easier. (They're not as much fun to dress though.) In the end, I'm just going to get even numbers of both though, or maybe at most 1 or 2 extra boys.

    12. I'm a female and I prefer girl dolls. I don't know, boy dolls seem so foreign to me...

And I love the female fashion (especially the japanese street fashion) but then again... from what I've seen, boys and girls look the same!! hah!

    13. I`m a female and I love both, boys and girls but when it comes to buying I only buy girls as I cant find much clothing that I like for boys.

    14. I'm female myself, and I do have a fair few more guys in my collection than girls... but I wouldn't say I really have a strong preference for one gender over the other. It's just that there are very few girl sculpts that really I like. :sweat

There are a lot of male sculpts with features that appeal to me, so it's simply easier for me to pick a new boy when I want one. It's much, much harder with girls. Way too many of them have faces that are too round, or too young, or too "anime" for me to find them appealing. Too many seem to have adult bodies and mismatched, very child-like faces. Some just look a little... I don't know... vacant, maybe? Vapid? So when I want a new girl, it may take me years to find one that doesn't look like a baby rabbit caught in the headlights.

That's resulted in quite a population imbalance. But, given how many people love the way most girls are sculpted, there's not much to be done about it. After a few years in the hobby, I know *I'm* the one with off-the-wall standards for girls.

    15. I'm female and I like both male and female dolls, but I only own female. The people I am around are not very supportive of my doll hobby as it is(They think they are creepy).
I'm very afraid that if I brought a boy doll into the picture they would think it was somehow a sexual attraction instead of an 'ooh look at the cute dollie' attraction, and that is just not something Im prepared to deal with:doh

    16. Im like this too--i prefer my girls smaller. SD girls intimidate me, haha. So I have 2 SD boys, an MSD girl, and a tiny girl.

    17. I'm female, and I love both female and male dolls... Unfortunately, all the dolls I have now are male (two) and the one (or ones) I will be getting this year are male. This comes from the fact that my dolls are based on my characters, who are part of a role play world that my friend and I have going on. I am much better at role playing guys than galls... at least off the top of my head. I do have female characters, but they are usually less developed, and don't become dolls because I feel bad about leaving my friend's dolls without there respective mates... In the end, we are room mates, so it is almost as if we share the dolls we have, (just as we share the characters) thus I generally don't feel too bad about not owning any girls, as I have plenty of play time with beautiful girls dolls as is. We even both have a say when it comes to picking out either of our dolls, so we have a great connection to all of them! :D

    18. im a girl and i love my baby boys but i guess its ok since my boyfriend likes the girl dolls better!

    19. I am a girl and I like girl dolls because I love dolly and me stuff and I always want to dress them up in cute girly outfits. In some ways I feel like I am projecting how I want to look onto my dolls sometimes.

    20. I'm a female and I prefer girl dolls. That's not to say I don't have some boy dolls, because I do. I also have a few boys on my wishlist too. I guess I want a mix, but one that focuses more heavily on girls.
