Girls view on guys who own BJDs

Oct 26, 2010

    1. A guy owning BJD? First, admire his doll. Then, ask him out for a cup of coffee. And hope to goodness he's single and we hit it off. I would love to share my bjd hobby with a boyfriend/husband/partner person.

    2. In the London area (where we have our monhtly meets) there are a few guys with BJD's, and I personally know 4 of them. At first I thought it was a little bit strange, but it doesn't really bother me in the slightest; now I don't even bat an eyelid at it and chat with them about their dolls the same as I do with the women. I think people might consider it equally strange that older women are interested and not just little girls or teens; we certainly get some strange looks when we do meets that aren't in the safe confinements of a con :P

    3. I think it is fine with me. we all like beautiful things so I think it is ok. HOwever, I have not yet met a guys who fall in love with BJD. If there are some around my community, I would love to me some. It is alwys good to meet new people because male and female carry different view. :)

    4. My husband owns four and 1/2 dolls. I got super excited when he got his first one and even helped him pay for it. (Actually I helped him pay for all of them XD)

In general, I have a hard time relating to and communicating with men, so it makes it a lot easier to be around them when I have something like this in common.

    5. I haven't read this whole thread, so I may be posting something already said, but there are a few youtube clips of a guy with the most amazing Iple girls. His Ashanti is the best thing I've ever seen, and he makes all their clothes, wigs etc. As an older bjd collector I'm always worried about how I would be percieved if I attended a meet, so I'm cool with the idea of men collecting them. To me bjd's are works of art, and I would love it if my OH could even begin to appreciate that :)

    6. I have no issues with it at all. To me it is still just a hobby, and it shouldn't matter what sex the person in the hobby is. My partner is waiting for his first dolls currently - 2 pukipukis, and a faceplate, which I am buying the body for as an anniversary present. But yeah, it shouldn't matter what sex someone is to be in a hobby.

    7. My boyfriend loves BJDs (especially the girl BJDs) -- haha! :D It's great that some guys collect BJDs; I salute them because they are not afraid to show their interests (and their true selves). :D

    8. TO me, any guy with a BJD is an awsome!

    9. Honestly, no offence, but the first thing I think when I hear a guy owns a BJD is that they must be gay. I don't mean to be mean to anybody, but it's the first thing that comes to mind. :/

I however don't have a problem with it.

    10. I was honestly thinking the same thing...

The second thought that comes into my mind that if a guy only owns girl dolls with the exceedingly large "milk" parts that he's a bit creepy.

I don't mean offense to anyone but I have a hard time imagining a manly man into dolls. The one male I knew that was interested in owning a doll a few years ago only wanted one to get a girl that owns BJDs to like him (and it didn't work)

My boyfriend tolerates my hobby but doesn't touch my dolls except to occasionally pose them inappropriately.

    11. And no offence but you guys are seriously prejudice. I would try to work on that if I were you.

Why is it creepy if I guy owns a girl doll with big tatas but it is OK if a girl owns a boy doll who is ripped and goes on and on about how hot he looks? What if it is a lesbian girl owning a big breasted doll? Is she creepy too or is it just guys who are creepy?

And what the f*** is a manly man to begin with? A macho a-hole who is only into sports and guns?

You know Penn & Teller's TV show? You know the name of that show? Yeah... that is what I think about the last two comments here.

    12. Actually, I don't know the name of Penn and Teller's TV show, sorry.

    13. I never have a friend (Boy) who own BJD.... But I would love to make one if there are.... -3- I am very interesting in what they thought when they having the first BJD. O(∩_∩)O

    14. It's great that guys are into the hobby. I only wish more would get into it.

    15. I Know a few guys who own dolls. None of them are gay who cares if they would be anyway. Sex never matters in a hobby its the over all love of the hobby itself and the joy of collecting. I wish I new more guys that collected dolls.

    16. You know what's interesting though? ...Pink.
Pink use to be a boy's colour. Yeah, it's true..
And look at the colour pink now , when associated with male's.
It's seen as something 'Gay' or girly/feminine.
Ridiculous, how stupid the general population have to associate with current trends & ways of life and make ridicule of anything outside of the supposed 'norm'. Personally , the most of people, who have these view's, are , or have been, raised listening to fathers or friends teasing and insulting with negative word association, like being gay (as if it were something negative) or being a girl (again.. as if it were something, negative.) So we grow up feeling pressure of not wanting to be associated with these kinds of negative words. There is nothing wrong with being gay or feminine, AND, being gay or feminine has nothing whatso ever to do with dolls. After all Why can a boy, buy a soldier or a doll of some hero (eg, G.I.Joe / Wrestler figure's / Movie /comic hero's.) And its viewed as 'Normal', but he cannot buy a beautiful doll like a bjd? Oh no.. as soon as he even picks up a doll, the parent have to panic. Granted not all, but most. A young man can buy a magazine or calender, featuring many women posing , scantily clad or even in the buff But again, he cannot buy a doll?. There is no such thing as a 'real man' or a 'normal' man/woman... Children who begin kindergarten , pure and untainted by humanitys trends, dont know the difference between whats for boys, and whats for girls. Until they are taught and pressured into being what is considered 'normal' , And from what i have seen personally, Parents get embarrased and ashamed if their boy plays with a doll.. Go ahead & test this yourself if your ever at a relatives, offer a doll to their young son.. See how quick it takes till you hear something negative. My personal views are, If a male wants to collect doll's. Let him, It's his own right, and he should be proud of himself either way, for refusing to be converted by the general publics opinons & views.. Thankfully, not everyone, is as brainwashed on view's. Thankfully, there are people who remain true to themselves, and who arent afraid to be who they really want to be. So to all you male's who do own bjd or any other things that are viewed as 'unmanly', I salute you, with all my heart and soul, you have my utmost respect, Alway's will. And you are, a 'real' man. For being real to yourself.

    17. Wow, well no comment to the people who are close minded.

My husband (who i'm pretty sure is straight) is getting his first doll next month. He is a boy doll (Illusion spirit Minos) based off Jace Beleren- a card from Magic: The Gathering. He's not going to really have his own back story for him, more of creating in real life a large "action figure" of jace. My husband thinks they are art, and being an artist himself thinks that's pretty cool, it's another way of putting your creativity to work.

    18. Lol - I always think that guys who only like 'manly' things must be gay XD I always get the whole 'oooo you must be trying to compensate for your own feelings of not being manly enough!' (I think I might have watched American Beauty one too many times. I blame my high school English teacher!)
But yeah, my partner is waiting on his dolls, and he isn't gay - or he does a really good job of hiding it....XD I like boys who aren't super stuck in their 'manly' ways. The first christmas present I ever got my partner was the entire 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls, and he and his friends LOVE it.

See, super manly men always seem gay to me - especially ones who got a doll with extremely well endowed torsos! My partner is getting three PukiPukis - two boys and a girl. Because he thought they were cute XD But my partner is manly too - he plays grid-iron, and eats blue steaks. And he poses my dolls inappropriately too - generally Porridge (my puki with doom magnets in her hands) ends up climbing the fridge, carrying one of my other dolls wigs with her, and all the other dolls will have pitch-forks and be on a 'witch-hunt' because she is magically sticking to the fridge.... >.<

    19. Dollies need daddies, too! Plus, I know a lot of guys with dolls--I mean, action figures! lol!
My guy is always posing mine and making them talk, so guys with dolls are fine by me!
