1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Girls view on guys who own BJDs

Oct 26, 2010

    1. I don't know who this friend could be <.<; >.>; Okay it's me. Though it is cool to see support for us guys being into dolls. I was told once that guys add a different perspective of what the dolls wear. I spoke with a guy once who wanted to get a male doll so he could make a Master Chief (from Halo) suit for it.

    2. Haha, I'm actually making a Master Chief doll.

      <-- Male doll owner here.

    3. I love it when a guy likes BJD's^^
I like men who are a little too much in touch with their femine side, haha.
So when they like dolls, that's definitely a huge plus!

    4. I think it's cool that a guy likes BJD's. A very big plus from me! :D

    5. I HAVE to see that when you're done! :D (female Halo fan here)

    6. I've met guy doll owners in real life and I thought that it was the coolest things ever. I find myself telling myself that it's cool though because (in the US) we grew up in a society where it's socially unacceptable for anyone who isn't a little girl to be interested in dolls. It takes conscious effort from me to shake off that initial shock reaction and realize how neat it is to have guys in on it. I enjoy seeing a more masculine take on how they characterize dolls.

    7. Haha, I will totally show you when he's done!
The doll I'm using for him is a Spirit Doll Firson too. He's got these beautiful eyes for the thousand yard stare I can't help but picture the chief having.

    8. Most of my friends who collect BJD's are female, so I'm usually surprised when I find a male collector, but kind of delighted at the same time. Especially since guys owning dolls is considered odd where I live.

    9. I come from the world of antique doll collecting, and there were quite a few men in the hobby, some of whom did exquisite costuming of the dolls. So I am used to being around men with dolls, but I am no longer interested in the antiques, so would like to see more male BJD collectors present themselves and their dolls. Both antique bisque and BJD are not children's play toys; they are more like fine china and other art. So why shouldn't men enjoy these works of art also? I wish there were some male BJD collectors in my area.

    10. Boys are raised to believe that playing with dolls is effeminate and something only girls should do, but guys with BJDs have clearly escaped that kind of brain washing. So good for them.

    11. I for one am excited to share my collection with my son and I enjoy watching him grow his own.
He has friends come over and not one (so far) has made fun of him. I teach a high dose of self
esteem and a bubbling over amount of confidence to my child and my younger siblings.
So step aside and watch out if someone ever did have a problem with our dolls or my son
and his dolls... He has made it perfectly clear those dolls are like his kids and he will
protect them. So I'am right there with any man or boy who wishes to collect and enjoy
his dolls. I would encourage any men who do collect and don't leave the house with
their dolls... to actually go somewhere and meet with another BJD doll collector.
It's what I call: "Getting the full effect" ( : Seeing someone else (in real life)
enjoy their dolls is the best feeling (to me) Even if you go to their house...
It's still the feeling of going some where (out) with your dolls in your arms.
Please try it.. If you need a boost... just PM me ( :

    12. I would love to know a guy who was interested in BJDs to talk with and snuggle with while looking at doll company pages. I think it would be very very cool, and I'd never tease a guy for it.

    13. xD Haha, no offense!

But considering BJDs could be military "action figures" emphasis on the action, how else do you describe them? BJDs could be the most actiony action figures EVER, and they're considered dolls.

    14. Now: Awesome! A boy who shares my hobby! <3 Totally awesome. Let's talk more!

Back then: Uhhh.... dude... you have a doll. O.o What the-?

I'm a walking hypocrite, but hey, that's life.

    15. I don't think I mind? I mean, I don't expect only women to be in this hobby but I guess I'll flinch if I see an old man with a doll xD;;; It's just unusuall, as is every adult with a doll, so yea. But in my mind, I really dun mind =v=

    16. With all the freedom our hobby provides it really surprises me that this question is asked.
      I couldn't care less what gender a doll-owner has.

    17. For me it's a guy who has hobby mixed with real art. And I like it when I can share my opinion with guys, they're often see thing I didn't notice : )

    18. Love them...my husband collects alongside me and it could not be more wonderful.

    19. A guy in the hobby? Can it be any more awesome? I don't think so.
It's a creative hobby by far and I don't think guys should feel excluded from it in any sense just because popular belief wants dolls to only be for little girls. -After all I think we all agree that this isn't very true, is it?

    20. My first thought might be "He's a bit of an odd duck" but then that would only last about 2 seconds before being replaced with "Is this guy single?" :P

In all seriousness, I think it is a bit odd, but in a wonderful, unexpected, refreshing, and beautiful way. I don't think guys need to be ashamed at all, as doll collectors we understand the sort of social stigma regardless, so I think you are in good company amongst others, whether male or female. I doubt any of them will be thinking anything bad about you. You would definitely have my curiosity, but in a really nice way. Honestly guys, don't worry about it, we are probably all thinking that you are awesome. I know I am.
