1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Girls view on guys who own BJDs

Oct 26, 2010

    1. I don't think it matters. If a guy wants to own a doll and be a part of this hobby, so be it.

    2. People should do what makes them happy, and so long as it's not hurting anyone why pass judgement?

    3. Men are no different than women just as women are no different from men. Personally I get judged so harshly when I do or say anything because people don't know if I'm a boy or girl. No gender, epsecially since there's so many of them, should be treated differently because of what they like ^.^we're all just dolly peeps here

    4. I don't think it's at all weird, although it's surprising to me for the simple fact that I don't seem to run into many guys in the doll hobby. When I do it's like 'oh...okay then, cool!'

I always bond with those who have the 'collector gene', male or female doesn't matter. Although I definitely find it attractive if a potential boyfriend is as into geeky collector things as I am, and/or if he respects my collection and is interested rather than just 'tolerating' it.

    5. I like it when men feel free to participate in the hobby! A lot of times guys are raised that it's not ok to do "woman" hobbies, which is dumb, because all hobbies can be enjoyed by people of any gender. I wish society at large will stop gendering hobbies, because it only serves to make people feel shame and hesitance to participate in the things they like.

if you like a thing, do the thing! :D

    6. I'd love to see more men interested or comfortable with the hobby! I've always encouraged my fiancé to express interest in dolls, but it's not his thing, sadly. He is supportive of me being in this community, however, which I'm thankful for. I don't think a lot of guys would be, since it can be seen as a childlike past time from the outside.

I welcome any guy who wants to join though!

    7. I'd like to say I was completely cool with it, but subcultures like bronies have me a little wary about guys embracing things that are typically feminine. I'd be uncomfortable around someone who fetishizes dolls.

That said, iron clad gender roles are terrible. Despite my initial wariness, I'd be all for a guy who was into the hobby. People like what they like and aren't wrong for liking it. Unfortunately, my own SO will likely be forever creeped out by dolls.

    8. It's totally cool! Lends some variety to doll meets. :D

    9. I think to each their own. As long as if it is a fetish for someone, don't expect me to go along with it xD

    10. The only difference between men and women is different bits and a little bit of testosterone and estrogen. Gender norms suck for everyone. So go ahead and play with dolls and do whatever you like. I honestly feel like any other opinion would be silly. My husband and I both collect dolls. I got him into it and he got me into his stuff too. ^^ He even tells people at work. Just don't even care. Nope XD

    11. Hi! I'm actually really new to BJD's but I actually find it cool when guys are into them. Guy box opening videos tend to be my favorite due to their reactions of the dollies! I love them! I think it might be strange on a societies view seeing how we as a culture expect guys to not like dolls at all but personally I find it normal. (:

    12. I think it's great there are guys in the hobby. It shouldn't be limited to one gender.

    13. I've tried to make a few guys interested in the hobby haha. I know maybe one or two. I wish there were more guys in this hobby though.

    14. If a guy wants to own them, that's up to him, I wouldn't judge. He can call them "dolls" or "action figures" or whatever he wants to. It's good for everyone to have a hobby.

    15. I think it's cute.

    16. It would be cool! Still different since you don't see many guys in the hobby but its nice and seems more accepting considering how men and women get treated differently, hopefully in time people can do what they want without judgement.

    17. I hope to meet a guy who collects like me :) It'd be a perfect match.

    18. It's awesome. Dolls for everyone! :)

One of the best things about BJDs is that they seem to appeal to so many people - all ages and genders.

    19. I really like how guys are more accepted in this hobby. I'm sure people have been bullied over their gender here before, but from what I've seen, guys get a lot of support from the majority of doll owners. Honestly, though, sometimes I think it's just better if we don't really make a big deal out of gender, because praising guys for being into BJDs kinda reinforces the "dolls are girly" stereotype that we all know isn't really true. Dolls are art and art is gender-neutral, just like all hobbies should be! :)

    20. I think it's totally okay.and I think it's cool.
