1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Girls view on guys who own BJDs

Oct 26, 2010

    1. I don't think it's wrong at all, I hope more males join the hobby.

    2. I think its great. If it is something they like to do and want to do, then that it what they should do. It shouldn't matter who you are.

    3. i do stop myself when i get the same thoughts of "why is a guy into dolls" because i need to sit myself down and remind myself that those are some ancient gender stereotypes right there. its nice to see a diverse group of people into dolls, i dont see a lot of guys into bjds but this is definatly a hobby that requires a lot of reading and researching and i respect any person that spends the time and money into having such beautiful dolls or even just people that appreciate dolls

    4. I think it's pretty cool and normal. Gender doesn't really matter to me, heh.

    5. I couldn't agree more! I used to collect MLP's and there were a lot of guys who collected too. The more the merrier!

    6. Jun-kun? :P

But seriously, gender doesn't matter. Dolls are for anybody who can afford them, so if BJDs are your passion, save up, place that order, and enjoy your bad self, regardless of what gender doll you like, or what organs are hiding in your own pants. Dolls are FUN!

    7. I have to be honest...the first time I saw a picture of a guy with a BJD, I thought it was a little creepy. IMMEDIATELY after my initial reaction I thought to myself, "Wait...why is that creepy?" and felt really ashamed of myself for being so quick to judge. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a a male BJD hobbyist! Really, I wish my husband had an interest in dolls, it would be really fun to buy one together.

There is only one thing that bothers me that touches this subject, though (since it tends to be mostly guys). And that's when someone refers to the doll as their "daughter", and in the meantime dresses them up like a hooker and takes questionable photos of them. This seems to be more common in the Dollfie Dream community, and what has put me off to them for so long. Think of her as your daughter, OR leer at her sexy sculpting, but not BOTH...:huh?:

    8. :)For me, I don't really mind guys own bjds. and in some Doll Party, I do see some guy's DD are really beautiful!

    9. I don't mind guys having BJDs, it's just a hobby like anything else.
Only thing I find creepy is when they get sexually too excited about their dolls, for example some guys I've seen on the DD forum, where they call their dolls their "daughters" but take panty shots or other sexualized pictures of them :/

    10. I think that anyone should be allowed to do as they please. Sure, people don't normally think of guys collecting dolls but that is what makes them unique ! I admire guys that collect BJDs because they have courage to be a part of this hobby in the first place. In my opinion, guys should be allowed to collect whatever they want ~

If it makes you happy and you enjoy it, don't hesitate to do it!

    11. I like the idea that there are guys that have dolls. I don't see anything wrong with it. I've seen wives who are in the hobby with husbands who have dolls. I don't think it's a big deal. It's whatever they like. It shouldn't matter gender wise. :3

    12. well i hope i wont get mean comments and ill be allowed to be honest.
i dont really mind male/female with dolls....
but there is one thing that wont ever stop disgusting me. it wont ever change....
ill better show it in image than say it with words as they might offend maybe someone not on purpose :
its like someone like this *random pic from google*

      it makes me feel sick.
but im honest... so i hope i wont get mad\angry comments on this >.<

What do you mean? Jolly, chubby guys owning cute dolls makes you feel sick? Why? If he looked like a model would that make you OK with it? If it was a chubby lady owning a cute doll then?
It makes me sad to see people judging others based on their looks or gender. It would have been bad enough if this was a rude and mean joke, but you being honest doesn't make it any better.

    14. In all honesty, what is wrong with the person in the picture owning a doll like on the second picture? I don't understand, please elaborate? Right now I can only assume you're judging people based on their looks and that's always a big no-no to me.

As for my view on guys who own dolls? Where are you? :( there's far too few off you out there or it must be you're all hiding. I'd love to talk to more males about BJD, they have such a different outlook on things and it's refreshing. Please don't feel weird or odd collecting ball-jointed dolls, it's the most normal thing in the world. There are plenty of girls out there that have 'male' hobbies or jobs so why not the other way around. I don't consider BJD's a 'female-only' hobby at all. Please let me know where the male BJD owner population is hiding and I'll jump right in, haha~

my opinion can be a 100 no no to you.
just thinking about some male over 40 thinkin that a child doll is sexy or touching it in places...
beh. its my NO NO NO x1000 times.
and im sorry for being honest. ill stop. better write lies and get thumbs up than be judged for my honest opinion.
      thank you.

    16. What you should have said was that you find males that get some sort of sexual gratification out of dolls unappealing instead of pulling up a photo of some poor sod, and (accidentally or intentionally) implying you dislike his type because he looks fat.

    17. Agreed :) it makes much more sense now.

To be honest I don't mind people finding their doll sexy or 'touching' them in places. I'd rather have them live out their fantasies on a doll than on an actual living person... I can understand you are disgusted by this however, I can't say I approve of the behaviour either.

But anyway we're going off-topic so to hop back on topic: Are there a lot of male BJD owners here? How long have you all been collecting ball-jointed dolls? I'm really curious to see what your dolls all look like :3

    18. Male owners and their dolls should really be a new thread. It's off topic here. I've read somewhere that the ratio is about 95 female to 5 male. I've been collecting since 2002. If you want more info, have a look at my profile, and following the links to my latest posts.

You said nothing about people finding childlike dolls sexy. You just showed a chubby guy, and then a picture of a cute doll. And why post that here in the first place? This isn't about that topic.
So instead of whining, how about apologizing for not being clear about what you meant in the first place hm? :daisy

    20. I actually was introduced to doll collecting by a guy friend! I was interested in learning photography and he told me the best way to learn photography was by photographing dolls. He gave me his Flikr to check out and I fell in love with the dolls!!! I now own 9 dolls total 2 of which are BJD's and 1 BJD on order!!! :dance
