It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Giving a doll as a gift

Apr 29, 2006

    1. Me and my friends have pitched in and bought our friend a nanuri 07 ^_^' hope she likes it.

    2. A couple weeks ago my boyfriend was cruising the Luts site and saw the MNF Shiwoo Elf and got 'the look' on his face. :love Then he saw Shushu and did the same thing, but he couldn't decide which one. He's wanted a doll for two years but hadn't seen one yet that really hit him. So for his holiday present this year I ordered a Shushu and got the Shiwoo head from a very nice lady here on the forum. I expected the doll to take awhile to ship, but since it came last friday I gave my boyfriend the two heads and one body this weekend :) Shushu is currently getting face up-ed.

      He was incredibly adorable with the doll, he would randomly pick it up and grin and kept experimenting with the posing. Every once in awhile he'd kiss my cheek and smile at me and say "You're wonderful, you bought me a doll!" :) So cute.

    3. My one friend who is like a little sister to me was interested in dolls way before I was, but I'll be getting mine first (because Im older and have a job), but as soon as I get mine, I plan on saving up to go halfsies with her for hers (or if I save up enough, surprise her and get her one early ^^ which would be how I prefer it). It'll be like an early grad gift. I told her that when she goes off to college she can cuddle it when Im not there cause she plans on going so far away (several states north).

    4. I'm buying my girlfriend her new boy's body and getting her a tiny! She's also planning to buy me one of my girls I have on my wishlist. It's just fun buying dolls or doll things for each other! As for other people, I don't have the funds really to buy another doll for someone but I do chip in on group efforts to get a doll for someone who doesn't have one! I think it's just increadibly sweet!

    5. My mum lives in a different country to me so I only see her a few times a year so I'm gonna get her a minimee of me so I'll always be with her. I hope she won't get creeped out by it XD

    6. I'm planning to buy a tiny for my best friend next year for her birthday :) She often says she has nobody to talk to (as we live in different states now) and she loved my dolls when I brought them up for her to see when I last visited. She loves Bambicrony's Gun, so I'm going to her that one.

    7. My sweetie is getting me a Limhwa Half-Elf for my birthday. She'll be my first doll, and I'm very excited about her! :love

      If I had the cash, I would like to get my mom Minimee dolls of me and my siblings. I think that would be a really neat gift.

    8. I'm probably going to buy some 27cm Dollfies or Obitsus for my friends because that's what they're interested in. I know one of my friends kind of wants a bigger one, but I'm just not in the position to do that for her. D: Maybe to help or go half way or something, but definitely not the whole thing.

    9. i just put a down payment down on a doll for my freinds x-mas gift. i've known her since i've lived in ohio. she's been wanting this doll since she saw my lyn from elfdoll. she wanted a elfdoll tiny adel so she gonna get one for x-mas. :) her boyfriend is spliting the cost with me.

    10. Not atm cuz I have so much projects to spend on....

      But I think (if any of my family members start to get interested in BJD) I might consider saving up funds and get BJD as a gift.

    11. I don't think I'll ever buy a BJD for someone ^^;; That's a little over-doing a gift.. especially since there's no one really close to me that loves the dolls as much as me.

    12. If you need help getting together clothes for the doll, I'm willing to donate some. Dolls really can help with loneliness and sadness, and I adore Bambicrony's sculpts.

      I'm trying to decide if my best friend would like a BJD. I know she's fascinated by mine, and really likes dolls, puppets, mannequins, etc. but I'm not sure if she'd want a bjd of her own the same way I love mine. I think that if some of the more zaftig sculpts I've seen in the artists' section are released, I may buy her one of those, since she really loves women with an hourglass silhouette. A lot of the fun for me would be in face-upping and dressing the doll in order to give my friend a fully formed character that would reflect our friendship. I know that she would treasure anything that I chose to give to her, because that's how our friendship works, but I also want to make sure that any doll I give to her is one that will truly be special to her beyond the fact that it's a gift.

    13. I got a Tender Too from DOD for my bestfriend during DOD's valentines day special last febuary...She paid for the make-up tho. ^^;

      If he hadn't of been so cheap though, I wouldn't have given him to her... (it was only $100 for the extra doll!! I was getting one for myself anyway, and I felt bad because she wanted a second doll while I would have had 3...so I let her pick another for herself..^^; ) I dunno...bjds are just too expensive to give away when you get them at full price. If there's a "buy one get one free" event, or some sort of mega discount and I don't desperately want the second doll, I don't mind splitting with anyone. ^^;

    14. My first resin doll I received as a Anniversary/Birthday/Christmas gift from my DH, who spent 5 months paying for her (Elfdoll Sooah).

      This year I am buying myself a Bobobie Charisma with the demon head. My daughter #1 saved and is getting a Bobobie Apollo who will arrive at the same time (just after the holidays). Then, my DH is buying me a Domuya male for this year's anniversary/birthday/christmas! Then we are giving daughter #2 an Obitsu 60cm with a custom painted haruka head, which I still need to make a custom costume for and then find a wig. So we are getting/giving/recieving dolls throughout the family. (The DH is more into sci-fi so he received one of the new Predator figures for his xmas/anniversary gift).

      I'd get one for my mom, but she's more interested in Cissy, so I am going to sew a replica outfit for her Cissy to match one from her childhood. I did give her one of my 16-in. fashion figures to play with. She must like her, cause she's been there for a couple years now.

    15. wow... i've never given such a present. But only one of my friends shares doll passion with me, and she preferes pullips... i've given her tons of outfits and accessories, but I can afford buying her a BJD. however, that would be nice!

    16. Me and my friend have got someone a CP Cherry as a christmas present this year ^^ We also commissioned the doll a custom outfit so it won't be nekkid xD!

      I've never spent so much on a friend's present before...but for this Christmas, someone also got me a doll in return, so it's all good ^^ ♥

    17. I bought my Daughter a pre-loved CP Harang for her birthday
      I will ber getting her a CP Soony this christmas, Its a bonus because I can get the Juri head ^_^

    18. I bought my friend's daughter her first BJD as a gift. I don't regret it. She may be young, but she knows the value of the doll and apparently tells it all her secrets and everything, and doesn't let her friends touch it because "they don't know how to hold her", lol. That doll is her life, and I feel it was worth every single penny.

      I have another friend who really wants a Baha, she attends my meetups and helps me sew clothes for my gang so she knows what they're all about. I think her boyfriend and I are gonna split the cost when we can both afford it and get her one.

      *shrug* It's just money, and I'd rather spend it on something memorable like a doll if the person will appreciate it. I stand by what I said before, though, that I'd never ask for one myself, lol ^^;;;

    19. I ordered a Ray from HappyDolls for my sister. He's so sweet looking, she just fell for him when she first saw him. She helped pay for it, but I added a faceup and upgraded shipping without telling her. Boy is she going to be floored! I asked them to do his faceup like his pics. Now were just waiting breathlessly. Hopefully he'll be here before Yule!

    20. My friend helped buy me another bjd for xmas he's so nice what a great gift tehe ^^
