Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Giving a doll as a gift

Apr 29, 2006

    1. If I ever get enough money, I plan on customizing a Soo (Dark Human) into my boyfriend's Forsaken character from WoW, to give to him for his birfdee. <3

    2. Yes I did, I bought Dollmore's Kyle Reese for my girlfriend of 3 years for Christmas this year and she almost cried, in a good way, we had also recently had a discussion about unconventional engagement gifts and such so it was very significant.

    3. Me and a whole bunch of friends are all pitching in money to get our friend her first dorrie for her 16th birthday. We started planning early, thank goodness.

    4. I totally wish that I did. If so I would get one for my friend Trevor~ not sure what but I surely would do so.

    5. I bought my fiance a Misty Blue Elf Roko and a Misty Rose Elf Pepe. He is one spoiled man. :D Because he has grown to love and share my hobby, I have done my best to include him in the best way I know how.

    6. I didn't buy a WHOLE doll, but I bought one of my closer friends a k-doll Karon head for her birthday (he's my Minsung's twin).

    7. I got one as a gift before. It was really nice. If I knew someone that wanted a doll for a present I would certainly not hesitate to get one for them.

    8. i have friend that has helped me out, and relay been their for me for the past few years. i would love to get her a doll. because i think she deserves it for being such a good friend. so i think that when i get a new job i may start to save up for one for her.

    9. I'm going to be giving my girlfriend enough $$ to cover a Yi from Abio Angel ^_^.

    10. The second BJD I ever bought was a surprise Valentine's present for a friend. She & I discovered BJDs together at a convention and joked that we would one day be able to adopt/afford a BJD. Months later, I bought my first doll. But I didn't want her to feel left out, especially since we were thinking about attending Dollectable. So I somehow managed to scrape up enough $ to buy her a BF Jerome. (My friend later understood why I was so broke that Xmas, LOL.) He was designed to be her own little guardian angel. :aheartbea I made Jerome clothes & black wings, and set him up Valentine's evening while my friend was out.

The call I recieved from my friend at 2am that night made Jerome worth every last penny. :)

The hardest part of keeping the surprise was waiting to show my friend my own BJD which had arrived a few weeks earlier. I was going *nuts*... *_*

    11. I'm sending out the payment for a Bobobie Erin for my sister tomorrow! I asked her if she liked my little girl, or my big girl better, and when she said she wanted a tiny one, I started searching. I was originally going to buy her a Puki Piki, but just to test the waters, I'm going to start her off with an Erin, who is equally as cute!

    12. I would love to get my grandmother one. She collects porcelin dolls, and when she saw Angelregion Ami [which is the one I really want] she made the same sound a mother makes when she sees her baby for the first time. Momma is actually thinking about getting her one if I can find one for cheap, but since she is 85, momma wants to wait till closer to chirstmas to make sure she doesn't buy it and then my grandma dies. I love my grandma. Although, it was funny when she saw the boy dolls. She didn't believe me when I told her they were boys. It was a kid delf one, don't remember which one.

    13. As long as you KNOW what your friend or relative would REALLY like to live with, then a doll is a wonderful idea. However, if you have even the slightest doubt, then don't buy. Being forced to live with a character because some uninformed, but generous, giver bought it for you, would be HELL.

    14. I have never given a doll as a gift, but I did receive my first as a graduation present from my parents.

I would love to get my hands on a DZ Fox and share it with my boyfriend, though. He loves foxes and although he doesn't quite understand my hobby, I think he'd love the fox. He also thinks the pukipuki's are cute, even though he won't openly admit it.

    15. If I could I'd buy my ficancee the Delf-Soo he wants I would do it in a heartbeat. ^^

    16. Right now, I'm trying to get together a DOC Petsha for my two little nieces.
I know one of them absolutely adores Petsha so I hope they will be able to share ^___^
They are around 7-8 years old so not old enough to get their own doll together >w<

And...I just got a good deal on a petsha head *is happy* $100 incl face-up and shipping >w<
Now I just need to find a good deal for a body xD

    17. i think i never did that... only received dolls as a gift from my boyfriend :)

    18. I was given an OD Ye from a good friend for Christmas last year, and my husband has contributed towards several of my dolls for various holiday's gifts. :) Last night I bought my best friend her first BJD, a MNF Shiwoo, for her Christmas/birthday present. She's wanted him since he was first released! She's loved dolls since I got into them years ago but was just never able to have one herself. I'm so excited she'll have him in time for the anime con we're going to together! :D

    19. I plan to get a Delf Kid Cherry for my friends 18th birthday(It's in June though, but I heard that Luts takes FOREVER to ship out so, perfect I guess). Only need $100 more, and I am almost there. ;)

I know she will hate me for it because I spoil her WAY to much. Seriously I've already spent a couple hundred on her in the past couple of years.. :sweat

    20. I'm going to get a Puki Puki for my mom, she loves my dolls but thinks they're way too big, she wants to make little rooms and things for her doll so she shouldn't take too much space. I was showing her pictures from a meet-up and she saw a Puki and asked how big they were, so I said 'about 10 cm' and she said 'That one. I'm going to get that doll' haha I was like 'are you serious?' but she was completely in love so I told her I'd get it for her birthday, make some clothes for it and get her a nice wig/eyes/face-up..it's in June, so luckily I have some time for saving xD We already decided on a colour scheme and she leaves the rest up to me, so it's a surprise how her girl will eventually look :3
