1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Giving a doll as a gift

Apr 29, 2006

    1. my first bjd was a present from a wonderful friend, I will never be able to thank her enough for her kindness :D

    2. It's nice for those who have money XD I don't. But it's always nice to help someone get their dream doll

    3. well I have not given one to someone, but my best friend (who really was not into them but is slowly comming around to some of the molds) has offered to help me buy my dream doll as soon as he comes up again. but I would pay her back.

I would love to maybe give her one in the future if she finds a BJD just for her.

    4. I would but wouldn't. Like I would buy one for my mother, since she bought me both of mine. The first one without me knowing.

    5. I've bought my sister a Serendipity Cumi for her birthday - she fell in love with them when we say one on ebay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she ships in time for her birthday - start of May.

    6. I bought my boyfriend a Kid Delf Elf Nara/MNF hybrid. And he's bought me a DZ Felian & Ani. ^_^

    7. I gave my best friend, who wasn't into dolls, my Bambicrony. I had her dressed as a ballerina all in pink and my friend is a ballerina herself, so she fell in love with her when she saw her.

    8. i bought my mom a johnny depp minimee. unfortunately, i don't know if she will like him, since she's already dubbed his photos "creepy."

oh well, live an learn, i guess :)

    9. I told my mum "If I win the lottery,I'll buy you Aaron", the response wasn't nice-Some people are so ungrateful :(

    10. I get to see my best friend once a year at a convention we both attend, and last year she saw my (and my friend's) BJDs, and fell in love with the animal BJDs. But she's in school and doesn't have disposable income. Since her birthday is in December I combined her birthday and Christmas and with my friend's help, we surprised her with a doll. I got a dollianian tiny then my friend modded it into a little black cat. My friend was so surprised by the doll. I am now just trying to get her involved in her local doll community.

    11. I've now bought two dolls as gifts. I bought an artist-cast Ted the second I saw him up for sale in the MP. After I'd sent the payment, I thought "What am I gonna do with *three* of them?" Since I already have two myself, and all.

So I gave him to my friend who really, really wanted a doll badly after getting to know mine, but can't afford one right now because she is trying to save up for her wedding and a move. And she loves him.

The best part about being an adult and having your own significant income is that you CAN do things like this. :3

    12. Um 2 actually. A Puki and also a Delf boy limited for a very good friend of mine. One was a Christmas gift and the other a birthday gift. If I had more money I'd probably buy more and one for my mom. I think my mother would really love bjds. One of these days I'll have enough to shower her with tinies, hehe. ^^

I think if you have the oppertunity to do something like that for someone else you should. ^^

    13. My incredibly artisticly abled freind has fallen head over heels for a Banji since I started showing her all about the BJD world now that I'm getting my boy. If she still loves them in a few months, and likes my boy (though I'm sure she will) I am heavily leaning towards getting it for her. Those things are so cute, and she's such a sweetheart to me, it would be worth it to see the smile on her face! I mean, whats the point of making money if you can't spoil your freinds who were always there when you didn't have money and helped you out?

    14. ahh yes XD

I bought my Girlfreind her first doll. She was wanting one so bad so I bought her a pipos Bao. Now she has us both hooked.

    15. I'm thinking about it... it would be in a few years, though. "Here's the past three years' christmas presents from your other friend and I!"

heheh... she'd be angry that I'd spent so much, but love it SO MUCH in the long run. Still debating. (she hates people spending a lot on her.)

    16. I am currently saving to buy my little sister the head that she has been wanting. She is much younger than I at 13. Thus she doesn't work or bring in any type of income, So yeah

    17. My step-mom has always adored pigs so I took abig risk and bought her an elfdoll Alice piggy for christmas, she was upset that I spent that much money on her but she loves her piggy very much and loves to show her off! I do not regret it at all

    18. Isn't it a bit risky though? What if they end up not liking it? That's my biggest concern.

    19. YES!!

Just now I pieced together a Minimee Toshiya head and Dollzone 70 cm. body for my two bestest-est friends Stefan and Joost (they are gay, and married to eachother :fangirl:)
They will get their present in about two weeks, when I finished airbrushing and sanding down the HUGE DZ neck.. :XD:

I had an absolute field-day being on a scavenger hunt for some pieces of the outfit. Stefan once pointed out he really liked the limited Chaim doll, so I went on a secret hunt to find as much pieces of the outfit I was able to get my hands on. :dance
      So much fun!!

And I will be able to keep seeing Totchi often and play with him 'cause I see my two friends a lot! :)

    20. I did a quick search on this but I didn't see anything dealing with this specifically.

One of my really good friends (who pretty much puts up with all of my incessant babbling about my various obsessions) has been intrigued by my doll babbling. However, I know that she could never really afford to buy one herself. So I was thinking about buying a tiny elf girl and customizing it for her.

Have any of you ever bought a doll for a friend?
