1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Giving a doll as a gift

Apr 29, 2006

    1. Depends on the cost and how good of a friend. I really don't know anybody who I'd buy one for that would want one.

    2. I gave one of my dolls to one of my brothers because it intrigued him..now she's a spoiled lil doll. And I'm getting another one of my brothers a doll for Xmas. Mainly so he'll leave mine alone and partly because I know he likes em ^.^ I think they're great gifts if you can afford them. ^.^ I'm also getting my boyfreind a Pipos Robin ^.^

    3. If I could afford one for a friend, I probably would.
      There are 2 friends I would by for.
      One friend, it would make her year! Since her parents say it's a waste of money :|

    4. I would have to return the favor because my doll was a gift for me from my sister. If she can give generously like that, I could too, but it would be for someone who really wanted it badly.

    5. I would. If any of my friends got interested in them I'd probably get a smaller doll for them because they're more affordible. Then I'll have to return the favor a friends will be doing for me soon.

      She really likes DoD's Bee-A but she doesn't want any boy dolls so she said she'd let me have Too when it comes. She said she knows I'd give it a good home. We've known each other most of our lives.

    6. Well, I don't have a doll of my own yet (I don't CARE that everyone is counting one as mine...I say it's not official until Thursday!) so I haven't yet bought a doll, even for myself, let alone anyone else...But I'm planning on making one of my own...and my sister has asked me to cast one for her once I get to that point, and I've promised I would. I'd definitely buy her one if I could. I like to spoil people like that. I enjoy it as much as I enjoy spending that kind of money on myself. I've a friend, too, who wants one, but can't afford one for herself, either...once I get to casting my girl, I'm going to have my husband get her mailing address to send one to her, too as a surprise. And I've found that making them can be just as costly as buying them, so it's not like it'll cost a ton less to do it this way, it'll just be easier as it'll make sure I use my resin before it goes bad and not have the wait time on ordering one for them from a company.

    7. A couple friends of mine want them, but due to the cost of them and lack of income they cannot purchase them for themselves, I figure, If you have the money and they really want them but cannot get them themselves then why not.

      I plan on giving a pair of dolls to a friend and her husband on their 1 year wedding annivarsary next year, they will be MNF and done up to be Sakura and Sayorin from Card Captor Sakura, (romantic reason between them) and another friend I am still deciding if I want to give her a minimee that I recently purchased, the character of the minimee is one of her favorites, I'll decide that later after I finish the doll.

      Another friend's daughter REALLY loves one of my boy dolls, but seeing as she is 5 a boy doll is not good for her, so I plan on getting her a girl doll and telling her it is a boy untill she is older.

    8. Soon as I graduate and get a good job, I plan on buying one for someone, but I can't say who. :D

    9. I'm planning to get my BF a doll soon. :D He doesn't want me to get something expensive though,coz it's just gonna be made in the likeness of his WoW charrie ^^;;

    10. No, I haven't =/. I would to love though, of course~
      I just don't have the extra money XD;
      It would be cool if my cousin had one. But... I'm sure she would distory it ;_;

    11. I'm in a group order right now...I'm going to buy a Puki for my Hubby for Christmas. xD I helped him buy his first doll (he paid me back). He doesn't know about the puki, and he'll probably kill me for spending that much money on him again~

    12. nope. but even if i did...i will not bear to leave the doll.:D

    13. My friend in sweden really loves BJDs, but cannot really afford them. So the four tiny ones she has, i've all given her for her birthdays and christmas.

      I've shown her pictures today of my Savannah, which i'm really sick and tired of, just to 'feel the ground' to see if she likes her, and she thinks she's lovely. So my swedish friend is this year getting her fifth bjd - Ziiyuann from AOD, with a repainted face-up so she's now redhaired with freckles and green eyes.

    14. I haven't bought someone a doll as a gift YET, but for Christmas I plan on buying one for my little cousin, best friend, and MAYBE one for my husband! :)

    15. I would love to!
      But they're SO expensive, so it'd be a little hard.
      If I could afford it, I would most certainly give them as gifts :3
      Resin is infectious, yes?
      I got all my friends wanting them now :3

      [My Puki is a gift from my parents, though I picked her out and helped order and all.]

    16. I haven't before, but I'm actually thinking about giving a friend a Bobobie doll for Christmas, maybe a March or a elfkin. She loves ABJDs and those are a little more attainable then the Sabik she's REALLY wanted, lol.

    17. I absolutely adore my friends, but I don't think I would ever give them a doll as a gift. Money to put towards the doll, or something for a doll, sure, but an actual doll- I don't have that kind of cash ^^'

    18. I paid for half of my daughter's B&G Triya. I might also eventually help my best friend get one.

    19. If I stay in the doll hobby (as I don't own a doll yet), I would love to have my friends join in. One of them is already interested, and I'd most likely be willing to chip in if she decided to buy one.

    20. I won't give doll as a gift unless my friend is a doll lover, and the doll must be his/her dream doll. For me, doll is not a toy, they are part of my life. My girls are special for me; they have their own name and character. If they broke, they are consider "dead", it is impossible for me to buy the same model to replace them. Lucky, they are still alive = =+
