Giving a doll as a gift

I think I'd have to be head over heels in love with somebody to justify gambling $1k on a doll that they'll either love as much as I do or leave to rot on a shelf.

 

I'm buying my Mum one! going to take a while though, but she deserves it, she's been through some really tough times with me, so this is my way of thanking her!

I'm buying a doll for my friend. Well, it's a group gift from my sister's and I.
She always comes with us to meet-ups and events, although she doesn't have a doll.
So, we decided to get her one for herself ^^ I hope She likes it! ^_^*

 

It's not as expensive as a BJD but I'm making a custom mini-me blythe for my sister. She is studying biology, so I'm preparing as well a laboratory diorama ^_^

I haven't bought a doll for anyone as of yet, but I'm planning to buy her one as soon as I have a job and can afford it. I promised to buy her a D.O.I A&D.

I absolutely love giving gifts... Lavish or not, I just love giving something so perfect for a person they sit there stunned and thrilled into speachlessness.

Yes But not on my own. I teamed up with my friends and we ended up with a pledge drive of sorts.

At the time everyone in our group had a doll except for her (though she does have a Kanaria Dal, but she was still feeling a little left out)
We knew she probably wouldn't get around to getting one so we conned her into thinking one of our other friends was getting a new doll and asked her opinion on it. She said she really liked the doll and thought it was really cute. Score! I put the doll on layaway at DenverDoll.
We then called up all our friends who were close friends with Cristina and within like half an hour we raised enough money to get the doll

I plan on purchasing a Shakugan no Shana doll for one of my friends that is completely obsessed with that anime... I just need to wait till my next pay check. :]

Yes I have, when I started getting into Blythe and I told my Grandma about it she fell in love with all my girls and so I ended up buying one for her in return for all the clothes she had knitted for me. I have had a few dolls bought for me as gifts but apart from my Grandma no one else I know is really into dolls at all

 

My friend Patricia has never owned a BJD but really wants one, so I am looking around in the market place to find her a Puki Puki. I am hoping I can do the face up or beg someone with more expertise to do it for me. I really want to do it for her as a present because I've missed her birthday and I haven't seen her in a long time and we just started talking again. Not to mention I want someone I can hang out with to have a Puki so we can play together. She has a huge dollhouse perfect for any Puki. ^_^ wish me luck and if any of you have Pukis you want to sell, then PM me, I would be more than happy to buy them from you for a reasonable price. =3

 

I'm saving up for a Pipos for my sister right now, and I really want to buy a doll for a very good friend of mine, who wants a BJD (a KDF Bory), but has lots of other things she needs to attend to.

 

I bought a DollFamily Star for my friend Tygati for her birthday. ^_^ Well..early birthday. XD But yeah. I plan on getting my Mum a Resin Soul Mei for her birthday and I'm pondering saving to get my roomie a Dollzone Cherry..heh.

 

I bought an AOD MSD each for my sister and our mutual best friend then I bought my sis a tiny AOD, a DIM Happy and a Pullip Tae-Yang. She bought me my precious DIM Love and we are teaming up to buy the above mutual friend a Bobobie Long that she has fallen for. Sis bought herself Elfdoll June though because I was skint as it was the New Year

I love giving dolls as gifts because I just loving buying presents for people I love and what better than a beautiful doll?

 

I've never bought anyone else a doll but I have recieved a few dolls from my then boyfriend for valentines/christmas/birthday I was so excited!

 

I am yet to give a full Dollfie as a gift (I went halves with my friend) but both of my Dollfies were Christmas presents to me from my best friends. When I held my first one it was love at first sight. I think it is a massive thing to give someone such a special gift.

 

I am actually considering getting my step-sister a doll as a gift... She's very very interested in the hobby and has done TONS of research on spanish forums. My dad would be more than happy to let her get a doll (since she'd rather save up her allowance and pay for it herself) but her mother is completely against the price... so if I get it for her... then she can't say crap about it ^_^

I've been thinking of getting my friends' mom a Souldoll AKU. She's a wonderful person and really wants a kitty doll. If only I had the money .___. I think if you give someone a doll as a gift, it shows you really love and cherish them, since they are quite expensive little things.
