It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Giving up other dolls for BJDs?

Jan 15, 2009

1. I gave up on some obitsu projects I had and some azone dolls that I didnt really bond with in the first place.
But yeah if I want something else really bad I will propably do anything to get it.

2. Well I sold my first two Blythes for less exciting things, even though I told myself I would never sell them so it's definitely in the realm of possibility!

I'm also a vinyl doll collector but I've already packed up a huge part of my collection to sell eventually and I can definitely see myself selling them all, eventually. I've just gotten my first girl today and I absolutely love her so I think I'm certainly going to pass along some of my vinyls to my friends to make room for the big girls! Now that I've accomplished getting my first I'm going to save for a car and another horse, but after that I want a tiny and another mini!

3. I did not totally sell off my collection of pullips and blythes now that I got into bjd, not that I will ever sell them all off XD
I am keeping a few of my pullips and blythes which were my favorites, but I am definitely leaning to bjds, but I also enjoy diversity. If there ever is a need to sell them to buy my bjds, I probly will, but will keep a pair of pullips and blythes for memento :3

4. I started on Monster High dolls, but sold them all off so I could put my full attention into the BJDs.

5. I've just sold all my Disney Princess dolls (I was only missing Aurora and Jasmine) and I'm tempted to sell my animator dolls (i'm only missing aurora, tinkerbell and kristoff!) but i'm not sure...

6. Been there, sold that. I can only afford one expensive hobby at a time!

7. hobbywhelmed Preach!

8. I sold a ton of vintage dolls to buy BJD's...

9. I collected Disney dolls, and when I 'graduated' from them to Pullips I did only sell 1 - the limited edition wedding Rapunzel from Tangled. I kind of wish I hadn't because she was beautiful, but in the end I didn't have the space to display her in box, andI spent the money on a Pullip, so it wasn't all bad.

Now that I'be been bitten by the BJD bug as you say ^^ I've noticed my attention and funds suddenly being diverted to BJDs, but I don't expect to sell any of my Pullips. I'll do what I've always done, and that's if I feel no longer bonded with a doll or giving her the attention she deserves, then I'll consider adoption. I'm certainly not 'giving up' the Pullips for the BJDs. I think it's possible to like and collect more than one kind of doll :)

10. I definitely lost interest in my other dolls once I discovered BJDs. I bought my first BJD in 2008, a Dollstown Ariel, who I still have. But as a newbie, I became discouraged because it was almost impossible to get the doll I wanted with all the preorders or sold out notices. It was all so confusing to me then and I didn't know a soul who was into BJDs. Plus I didn't have access to the DoA marketplace yet. Somehow I managed to buy one more bjd in 2009 before I put everything away because I had gotten very sick. I reactivated my membership here in June of 2014 and since then I've built my BJD collection a bit. Now I absolutely need and want to sell all the Tonner, Kish, Creedy, Vintage Barbie, etc stuff that's taking up room in my closet. I can hardly bare to look at them anymore because all I see is how much work it's going to take to sell them!

11. I have a fairly large vintage Barbie collection that I am always buying more then paring down. I think I finally have the dolls to a minimum but ohh the clothes from the sixties and seventies would be hard to give up. I have been pretty lucky in finding it as well as selling it and it has always pretty much covered itself.
The last lot I old though went towards m first bjd. doll chateau

12. I haven't exactly had to give up any dolls for BJDs as of yet.

The main impact has been on my spending in regards to the other lines I am collecting, which are Monster High, Ever After High, and favorite characters turned figure from Figma and similar companies. I don't buy many of those quite as often or as quickly as I used to. And definitely not for full price if I can help it. I also have lots of old Barbies from my childhood stored away, some MIB. Haven't considered selling them as of yet.

Currently just about all of my collecting budget goes to BJDs or their clothes these days.

13. I did sorta stop buying the fancy Barbie's. The kiddo still likes them tho so we deboxed a bunch that I had and she plays with them. I should really get a little BJD that the Barbie clothes would fit.

14. I guess I am sort of a pack rat and have not sold any of my previous dolls yet. My Barbie collection is still in tact at my parent's house, and my small Blythe and Momoko collection is still in tact as well. I have not bought any of these dolls (except one Momoko) since I started collecting BJDs. My bank account won't allow for it.

15. No, but I have just a little sampling of everything and I love them all.

16. Can I ask where everyone has sold their non-BJDs please?

17. I have a bunch of MH dolls, all of which I buy from Goodwill so I never actually pay full price for them. I'll continue to buy them from Goodwill if I see them (70 cents is too good to pass up). I also collect anime figures but I don't plan on giving that up at all.

18. I still have one or two pullips lying around (I plan to use them for customisation practice). I also have two nendoroids if you count them as doll-ish items!

19. I went the opposite direction. I never really liked dolls before I discovered ABJDs. After that, I started to really take a look at other dolls, and found that I could appreciate them.
I went from having no dolls to having a random assortment of dolls: everything from the ball jointed to a rag doll. I actually bought my first Barbie last month! (seriously- when did Barbie get awesome jointing and posing capabilities?)
My resin crew are still my favorite, though. If I had to scale down, they would be the last to go.

20. Heck no, I didn't part with the dollies I loved! I can have a mix of dollies. Don't get me wrong, I have parted with some dolls, but not for the sake of buying BJDs. I parted with them because I didn't connect with them and wanted to give them a better home.
