It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Giving up other dolls for BJDs?

Jan 15, 2009

    1. Nope! I have a Pullip and one collector's Barbie. I love my Pullip, and although she doesn't get the attention that my BJDs get, I have no intentions of selling her. I actually want to get more Pullips in the future!

    2. I still have some barbies but I don't use them that much

    3. I'm the opposite - I got into BJDs via action figure customization and had never collected any dolls before, but since getting into these dolls I've started paying attention to other types and lines of dolls as well.

    4. I was in to Nendoriods by Good Smile Company. I didn't sell them but stop buying them and pay more attention to BJDs!

    5. I don't really favor one type of doll over another. I've sold some of my Blythes to fund other Blythe purchases and I've sold some to fund my BJD purchases. I'm a little more attached to some of my Blythes than my BJDs since I customized some of the myself. I can also leave them out without worrying about yellowing :|

However I do have way more BJDs than Blythe... Partly because they are much tinier and easier to store. With my Blythes I feel like the amount I have is good, however for some reason there is always more room for another Lati....

    6. Nope, still juggling Momokos, Blythes, and now BJDs!! I find if I'm not buying Blythes, I'm buying BJDs. If I'm not buying BJDs, then I'm buying Blythe clothes or BJD clothes! Hmmmm, there's also a couple new Momoko releases I have my eye on.....no wonder I'm so broke!!!

    7. I don't think I could ever sell the rest of my barbie collection. I only have a few left. I still love all the memories I had with them

    8. I'm extremely attached to every single one of my dollies. I couldn't dream of selling any! They're like family to me honestly. If I were to get rid of my Monster High girls, Pullips, or vintage korean Bradley dolls my BJDS would be losing their little friends! T_T

    9. Same here :)
I will not sell my Pullips even if I do not touch them of buy them things because my BJDs get all the attention. But I still like them a lot!

    10. i used to collect pullip but when i found bjds i sold my pullip girls to get my first one. i miss them somtimes, but i am happier with my bjds now because they do more than just sit on my shelf. sometimes I see new pullips and they are really pretty but i know it's just going to be ignored so i don't buy any

    11. I used to collect barbies, my parents would buy me the holiday barbie every year for christmas! But there was something about them that got kind of boring to me? Always having to leave them in the box, and not very posable if you did remove them from the box was kind of a let down. I always loved their dresses though! Lack of room and interest sort of turned my attention elsewhere, and I've been giving them up in place of other collectibles. So if I had to say bjds are going to replace anything, it would be what remains of my collection, and probably curb my purchase of other random collectibles!

    12. I have not sold my customised Obitsu, Volks or other action figures(from 12 inch to Figma size) to finance my bjds. Oddly enough my bjds are customised to be at the larger version (one is a large size 70cm male) of at least four of my non-bjds dolls. I have no specific plans of getting more large size bjds after hitting 4 big ones. Except maybe an MDD and an anthro or three.

I had however stopped buying gashaphons and mangas of current 'fave' anime / game. I even stopped buying video games to save money for the doll hobby. If anything I sold off my mangas of lesser interest.

I did notice a shift of interest to play / sew/ photograph the large bjds but it also seems that I had tied my larger bjds to my smaller crew to expand my project instead of giving everything to the bjds. The smaller ones are just that much more portable.

    13. I used to collect Barbies, even trying to find the special ed. ones and now I stopped since I try to save to get the BJD that caught my eye. I have given some of them away already and plan to sell some of them. Of course I will keep the ones that were given to me as presents or the one that took me a while to find.

I also 'rescued' old Cabbage Patch kids. Had fun cleaning them up then making them clothes. Now, I stopped looking for them as well and started giving them to nieces and cousins. Of course I keep some of my favs. but have to tone down the kids since I have accumulated a lot!

    14. I was originally into Pullips, but I did lose interest after being introduced to BJDs. I sold my Pullips and Dals so they would have owners that would actually give them the attention they deserved. I never did much with them anyway.

    15. Pullips (and Dals) were the first dolls I'd really gotten into, and are the only ones I still have in addition to my BJDs, but I am in the process of selling them. I've cycled through Monster High, Tonner/Wilde Imagination, and miscellaneous dolls (Goodreau, Delilah, Violett & Gabby, Lorifina). I really only miss my gorgeous resin Evangeline Ghastly. The Monster High girls were pretty fun, but there's just too damned many of them to keep up. I also really liked my Lorifina but her face is just so generic. Her posing ability was pretty nice though, and her clothing selection is awesome...it's too bad she didn't stay in production longer.

I'm down to my favorite Pullips - Miku, Raphia, Romantic Alice, and most of all my Bloody Red Hood. I don't want to let go of any of these girls, but I have to if I want more resin beauties. At this point, there is only ONE doll that I would never sell, and that's my SoulDoll Arina. Even if I completely migrate to SD-size dolls, she is my favorite.

I do still buy figures to add to my sukumizu collection, but that's a separate thing.

    16. I started with Pullips then went to Blythe. When I got my first bjd she freaked me out ! But now I cant get enough bjds I love them!

    17. I collected random vintage dolls, then Living Dead Dolls, then Pullip, then Blythe, then BJD. Once I got into BJD, the rest really fell by the wayside and I'd probably rather be rid of the other dolls before the BJD.

    18. I have an obitsu, a hujoo, and two pullips. I haven 't bought anymore after collecting BJDs, but I haven't sold my other dolls either.

    19. I remember when I had barbies and bratz (that was seriously their brand name) and then I got rid of them. I missed them though and bought really cheap alternatives... But then my friend showed me BJDs and I fell in love and it's like having a barbie but way better. I would never buy any other kind of doll now. These ones just ... work with me. :)
I don't even care about buying clothes anymore. (and trust me, I have a lot of clothes xD)

    20. I collected reborns but sold several because I am collecting Bjd's now.....
