It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Giving up other dolls for BJDs?

Jan 15, 2009

    1. Right now I am in the process of deciding if I should sell my pullip doll. I really want a different bjd. If i do decide to sell her I don't think I'll regret it but I think I'll miss her as she was my first pullip doll ever and what got me in to the bjd hobby

    2. That's the spirit! I have a large mix of dolls and don't think I could give up one variety for another. I don't see BJDs as the be-all and end-all of the doll world.

    3. Nah...I still have and collect Blythe, Tyco TLM, MLP, Monster High toys. I love all kinds of toys.

    4. I picked the size I did (Pukifees, mostly) because they seemed like they would fit in well with the little OT doll my blog revolves around. I also thought they might be able to share clothes, but their body proportions are very different, even though they're basically the same size.

      I make cloth dolls, too. I also have a Pullip, two Blythes and a bunch of Monster High dolls, as well as some vintage Darci and Jem dolls. And a bunch of assorted plushies. I say you're never too old for toys. :)

    5. I still keep my Anime figures and plushies, and other i have collections, it just my BJD is a larger collections :XD:

    6. No, I cannot give up my other dolls, especially my American Girl dolls.

    7. I was deep into Barbie, Gene and Tonner dolls when I first started collecting BJDs in 2005, and like starlady and Sandwich, they were just "add-ons" to my collection as a whole. Things changed in early 2006, when I began to have much more fun with the BJDs on chat boards, and one day in early March, I had an ephipany -- the fashion dolls suddenly lost all interest for me. It was the weirdest feeling, but something of a relief, too. Over the next 4 years most of my fashion dolls exited; I kept a few that had sentimental value, but that's it. Fortunately I didn't need to sell them to finance the growing BJD group. Sometimes I wonder, though... someday will I do the same with the BJDs? :|

    8. I collect dolls Disney animators ^^

    9. I do collect Pullip, Dal and Azone dolls~ I don't think I will sell them because I love each of them very dearly~ But I think I won't buy them as often now (except I see ones I like very much) because I need to save up for my bjds~

    10. Noooooo way! I get super attached to my collections. I have several OT dolls, mostly cloth and some porcelain, and tons of figurines and miniatures. I often find it hard to even part with cloth dolls I made specifically to sell! T^T I love BJD but I love all my dollies too much to trade them!

    11. After buying my first BJD, I've held off buying Pullips seeing as I'm trying to save up for my next one. These days, I haven't really been taking photos of my Pullips and Dals, although, I'm still hesitant when it comes to selling them, so instead, I just have them out for display. ;;

    12. It was quite the opposite for me... I got into Azone Pureneemos through BJDs, I've also since bought a few Monster Highs, and Ever After High girl, an Isul boy and also have plans to maybe one day own a Blythe... @_@;

    13. I wouldn't have a problem selling the ones that I never felt an attachment for. But, I couldn't bring myself to sell them all. I'm just as attached to them as my BJDs.

    14. I have a Tonner doll, a few Living Dead Dolls and about 15 or so Monster High dolls that I'm considering selling. I don't really have the space to display them now that bjds have taken over the top of my shelf and I'm just not as attached to them as I used to be. I'll probably end up selling most of the Monster High dolls to try and get some more money for bjd stuff. But I'll definitely be keeping the ones that I'm particularly fond of because I don't want to have to try to buy them back in the future.

    15. I have a HUGE 1:6 scale collection of Silkstone Barbie, Fashion Royalty, Momoko, Poppy Parker dolls as well as the dollhouses and dioramas for them to live in. I have cleaned out my herd twice before. I used to have Tonner and Gene dolls- those went on the 2nd clean out.

      I have a MSD soulkid but have always wanted an SD size girl too, to be her mom orbig sister. I wouldn't say I am ready to give up my 1:6 scale addiction, but am ready to cut back on how much I order to get my SD on layaway. Doing some hard thinking on the directions of the doll room and what I definitely want to buy and how to cut back on the action figure/impulse buying which with doll companies is the problem .

    16. I'm a doll collector in general. I collect bjds, monster high/ever after, living dead dolls, barbie and now that I looked up pure neemo thanks to an above comment I will probably collect those too. I also collect stuffed animals and my husband has action figures/figurines. So I wouldn't sacrifice one of my collection for another. Bjds are probably my main doll but i'd be bored with one thing.

    17. Nope. I love all kinds of dolls and toys too. I think I would get bored, that and I would probably end up regretting if I sold my other collections. Of course if I don't bond with one its a different story.

    18. I find that since I started collecting BJD's I have started collecting more dolls. :sweat

    19. I occasionally pick up some non BJD dollies from this amazing thrift store that I frequent because they are in good shape at prices that are steals. However, I'm about to sell some of these finds that I have not really connected with, along with some older dolls that I have, so that I can eventually expand my BJD collection. I want to downsize, and I would rather have a few nice dolls that mean a lot to me than to have a ton of dolls that really have no value to me.

    20. I have to give up my other doll for my current BJD. The doll itself lead me to know BJDs in the first place. I feel sorry for it though.
