1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Guilty pleasures

Mar 12, 2017

    1. Window shopping, character making, and my ever expanding wishlist. I love just going from company to company and looking at photos, and then I put a million dolls on my wishlist, and then I end up making characters for them and it all just spirals... :sweat I doubt I'll ever actually have all the dolls on my wishlist, but it's nice to have the characters, and window shopping is just too fun.

    2. So I'm not the only one who pretends to shop? Dolly stuff can add up so fast. I better go shop in my own stash--lots of high heels there, something I find hard to resist.

    3. Ideas and...armour. I am obsessed with both, and I am a bit afraid that my life will be too short to put everything into reality. So I really have to select what I want to make.

    4. My guilty pleasure in this hobby is the same as your :eusa_sile
I love cute and androgynous boys. . . I like when they are little and seem like light and lithe (I don't know why...).
Their fine forms are so cute.... For me it's a real pleasure for the eyes and hands ! :drool

    5. Deciding to develop more and more of my thought out characters as bjds. I originally planned to work on 6-7, but then new ideas cropped up, and it doesn't help that I'm also planning some tv series inspired dolls.:XD:

Also could list wigs here to some extent. I've been searching all over for good default wigs for my boys and girls until I get a better handle (and time) on making them myself. I don't particularly want them to remain bald when I get their faceups done.

Also...male optional parts? I admit to searching specifically for bodies in particular for a couple of my characters with those features in mind :sweat I also go crazy favoriting items I like on Etsy, even if I never commit to actually purchasing them. There's always a chance I might, right?:XD:

    6. furniture :drool(have no room, yet I buy) , random rare heads that pop up :sweat (I have approx 15 floating heads with no intention of buying bodies).

    7. ALL. THE. TIME. I have no fewer than 10 or so virtual shopping baskets full at any one time :whee:

    8. I sit around and photoshop together composites of what new eyes, wigs and clothes will look like on my dolls before I buy them, because apparently I have too much time on my hands. It's so fun composing the outfits though...like having a really inefficient paper doll or something.

    9. I love really nice glass eyes. They really bring the dolls to life but they are so expensive.

    10. Angel Philia :nosebleed I usually find it distasteful when dolls are hypersexualized, either by the company or their owners... but like... Angel Philia dolls are so beautiful....... AND some of their large busts are so much more natural looking than other companies. I'm not talking about the ones that are made to look like the doll is hanging upside down, lol - but they have some large busts that actually "sag" whereas the majority of companies' large busts look like balloons. :doh Aaaanyway I just love AP/Pink Drops dolls, but I can't help feeling weird about it ToT

    11. Absolutely ridiculous, frilly-puff, frufru dresses... You know the ones... Mountains of lace. Long, poofy skirts. More ruffles, ribbons and bows than you can shake a stick at? Yeah. Those.

Dresses that none of my girls would ever wear. Because, for the most part, I just don't have girl dolls who are into that kind of thing. I have tom-boys, girls in suits, girls who like black leather, girls who wear armor, Asian ladies, one who's in Mori... I just didn't have lacy puff-balls.

But I kept collecting those dresses anyway. Because... floof. Oh goddess, the FLOOF!

I eventually had to buy Ophelia (My Volks Jun T-) just so I would FINALLY have a girl to wear the ludicrous stack of frilly dresses I've acquired over the course of a decade of doing the "doll thing".

I just can't resist all that lace. *facepalms*

    12. ... Same as yours. Feminine and/or androgynous boys.
I'll probably never get one because bonding with them is impossible to me, but I love fawning over them and day dreaming of finally bonding with one... We'll see ;)

    13. I'm definitely in the window-shopping camp... between being broke and indecisive, I spend a LOT of time filling that cart with things I know I won't be purchasing for a good long time. Sometimes just so I can calculate shipping on an imaginary big purchase, then carefully pop my eyeballs back into my head and go about my evening.

I'm also a fabric hoarder... I get so many project ideas, or I see a remnant being clearanced that has a dolly-scale pattern and I get it without a real idea, but then I have to just set it all aside so I can work on other things, and the stash (and project list) will keep on growing and growing.

I have a weakness for toy props-- little bitty plushes, Micro Machines, Nanoblocks, things taken off of keychains... and little gift card holders shaped like gaming consoles that are out of scale for my guys but I just could not resist getting them anyway. I love tiny dishes and foods, but toys... that's got to be my number one doll prop buying vice.

    14. I do the same, I'm not so fond of it for myself, but most of my boys escaped the lace only because I couldn't bring myself to actually buy the dresses (but every time I do window-shopping I spend most of my time looking at that kind of clothes ...)

    15. Props. Farrr too many props.

    16. Doll furniture , miniatures and fabrics. I'm continuously trying to find great furniture and exquisite fabric. My Kit is just and average kitty-boy so I have all this beautiful fabric that I rarely use but when I see some that is in a good scale and speaks to me I buy a yard. I have ideas for furniture and I spend an unusual amount of time deciding how/if I can make something different from what you can buy.

    17. Tiny food. I window shop on tiny food so much! Also, lingerie. Especially the over the top really sexy, really lacy bits. Probably because I would never wear them myself.

    18. Miniature food sets! I'm a HUGE sucker for them, and can't wait to build a little cafe for my BJD's! :blush

    19. I feel this way too; so many ideas, not enough days in my life to cram them all in.

I'm another 'dry shopper'. Ogle and pick out everything I would buy if money were no object, (don't look at the total) then close the page. Honestly though, sometimes it makes me feel sad and poor. :sweat

But my true pleasure, though maybe not a guilty one, is holding and staring at doll shoes. "Awww! These are just too dang small!" Such a concept fills me with joy.

    20. Big dolls that I can hug. I love giving affection, but I also dont like physical contact with other people, so it works out great XD
