"Waxy" is the term I would use. Translucent resin looks a little more like an old-fashioned wax doll. Or a candle. Like you can see through the top layers, which is more realistic than completely opaque resin.
Have you guys seen AoD's Bailuxi? He's in the news section, but I didn't want to put a pic of a off-topic doll here. To me, he looks just like an older Adori!
I thought I would poke my head in here since I just pre-ordered an elf girl adori. I've wanted and adori for a while but only just now have the means to do so. I'm looking forward to customizing and making a wig for her when she arrives.
@Tsukiyono, congrats, the Adoris are adori-able! I've been wanting a Nanni for a looong time, finally got tired of waiting and ordered a different little doll for my purposes. And, of course, Nanni came up for order a few days later. I decided pretty quickly that I would go ahead and get a Nanni any way, they are just too cute, and then realized that there were altogether three different heads! I've been trying to decide for the past three weeks--sex? skin tone? one or two bodies? two or three heads? And finally made up my mind and put in my order. I'll be waiting for a Nanni boy in moist apricot, all three expressions. So glad that's finally off my mind.
Oh, how fun! Getting three heads was a good idea. I keep regretting that I only got one of Adori's heads. My boy is in moist beige, and the translucent resin is really pretty in person. Can't wait to see your Nanni!
@bluepita, hopefully the wait time, which isn't all that long with Haru, will let me pile up a little extra cash for all those face-ups!
I'm so torn...I wanted to wait to order a new doll this year, because it's only January and I decided to limit myself to one new doll in 2017. But the Nanni pre-order will be over in a few days, and I really, really want to order her in the Nanni Choco skin tone. What do you think, guys? Buy her and accept that I'm done for the next 11 1/2 months? Or buy her and accept that I'm likely to crack and get another doll later in the year?
@DollSewist, I'd say #2. If you're like me, that is. After all, not that many companies give you so many skin tone choices.
@phanuel, I just realized that I never put up the most adult option of all: don't buy the doll! Apparently I can't bring myself to even think about being a sensible grown-up. I think you're right. I'm just going to have to be resigned to the idea that my doll collection is going to grow more than expected in 2017.
I'm adopting two Adoris! Originally, it was going to be two Adoris and a Nanni, but a really precious doll was up for sale and I needed to purchase it so Everyone's dolls are so cute, it is helping to make the wait a little less difficult. :P
I ordered my Nanni in the "Nanni Choco" resin color - so excited! And now Haru's IG and Flickr accounts are showing a new sculpt "Geuru", which will be another YoSD offering, and which I already know I'm going to want, too. That man is just going to get all my doll money, isn't he?
I love all your girls/boys! They're adorable. I really want an Adori but January is a bad month for money (taxes and such). I'll have to wait for the next preorder. Do you know if Haru makes frequent preorders?.
