1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Has a bad experience ever turned you off dolls?

Dec 16, 2022

    1. Naaah, not yet anyway! :?

Tbh, I don't think much of anything could turn me off of my dolls entirely.
I love the ones I've bonded with so much—they're my babies and I could never give them up!

Some things have made me hesitant to post anything to my doll instagram or share photos here, though.
Nothing's even happened to me, so it's kinda ridiculous. But . . . I've seen on tumblr how much people in the hobby shit talk both about specific people and newbies in general for any flaws in their dolls' appearances / photos :pout:

I'm experienced with photography and advanced photo editing, but I've only been in the BJD hobby for about a year . . . and I'm also stuck taking photos with my phone for the time being since my DSLR needs repairs.
My biggest sins are likely the fact I've not yet figured out how to perfectly style my dolls' wigs, my dolls' faceups aren't all perfect, and I haven't experimented enough with doll photo posing yet to really capture natural, realistic, dynamic poses I want in my photos. I understand dynamic poses as an artist with a solid understanding of human anatomy, but photographing little dolls is VERY different from drawing people!
I'm working on learning a LOT of new skills, and the fact that I don't have a ton of time to focus on doll photography during the day only makes it worse since I'm typically limited to unnatural lighting at the moment.

So I guess all the bashing of people (especially newbies) behind their backs just makes me feel like anything I post is likely being ripped to shreds in discord somewhere

      I mean, it's whatever.
My dolls and my photos of them are for ME and no one else. I just like sharing because it's fun to participate in a community where people share my silly doll obsession lmfao.
While it makes me hesitant to share, I just do it anyway. It's not like I'm looking to be popular, just . . . y'know, looking to not be bullied by people who wanna act like we're all in middle school ahaha.

(To be clear, I'm not talking about constructive criticism here. Concrit is welcome, especially when it's asked for. I'm a writer and editor; I give and receive concrit all the time, and it's VITAL to creative improvement! But there's a major difference between offering constructive criticism and just kinda dragging someone down for the hell of it because you see them as beneath you.)
