Has a particular doll sculpt ever scared you or creeped you out?

Dec 22, 2016

    1. So far not many BJD dolls creep me out. But there are a few sculpted men that are like crazy muscley and they kinda weird me out. I don't know the company that makes them but it's like muscle over-kill to me

    2. Jade-eyed-cat, I'm the same way. I usually like creepy things too. Like, I love Miracle Dolls. The multi-eyed sculpt is gorgeous and I'd love to own one. Same with any of the Pathos Tale sculpts.

    3. I think Dollzone Carter is the most unsettling doll I've ever seen... I like seeing some owner photos but I can't help but feel that the more I look, that the tiny-toothed, bug-like creature inhabiting this boys' body is going to shed its skin or something.

    4. Just about all the DollChateau dolls give me the willies. The jointed neck makes me think of goiters and some of their bodies are just pure nightmare fuel. The spider is by far the worst, but the Agnes, with the butterfly/flower coming out of her chest is pretty unsettling too; no matter how I see it painted I always think Alien. But oh my gosh that creepy little clown baby. I know it's just the paint but no. The conjoined twins make me uncomfortable as well, but a lot of that is that they're facing each other I think. However some of their actual face sculpts are gorgeous and the bodies can be quite graceful, especially some of the deer and the more human-esque ones, like the one with the birds.

    5. I don't think any BJD has outright freaked me out. There are a few I don't LIKE, simply because their aesthetic isn't to my taste (or I just find them downright ugly), but I've yet to stumble across one that outright scares me. Any of the smiling sculpts mentioned, for example, I find beautiful. I'd love to own them! And the more realistic the better. I love that Ringdoll Mona, too. I find her expression amazing.

      I think the doll I find most ... unsettling might be the Dollzone Carter. Just because she looks like she might've been a stroke victim at one point that left half her face paralyzed. But, again, even she is kind of beautiful in a way.

      Oh wait! I did see a minimee head sculpted to be that Shinigami from Deathnote. That might've creeped me out a bit, given all those pointy teeth. And I love dolly teeth! lol But, given he's meant to be a horror character to begin with, maybe he shouldn't count. :XD:

    6. For me it's the Nefer Kane Kameko (?) I'm not really sure if it's the right sculpt name >__< There is just something with those eyeholes that creeps me out a bit, however, it's a really unique sculpt. Also that Ringdoll SD with an ear to ear smile >__<

    7. Angel Philia dolls freak me out. Hate 'em!

    8. @ItachiUchiha07 I can understand why that freaks you out, the eyes remind me of trypophobia, it's a fear of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps.

      @terraform Yeah, I feel the same way, some of the more subtle or normal faces don't bother me, but the extreme tongue out ones and "o" faces really make me uncomfortable. Some of them have fairly neutral expressions and that's ok with me, but the sexual faces are unsettling in my opinion.

    9. Hm, I really find that certain details like stitched eyes or mouths kinda get to me.
      The DZ Tarot dolls though, they are a little too intense for me. I think it's the body horror aspects and gory concepts that do it.
      Otherwise I haven't really found many BJDs that put me on edge. Especially since I am still partial to the Doll Chateau sculpts for the most part.

      And while i haven't seen any, I'd find certain expressions unsettling if they're overtly sexual as well.

    10. Impldoll msd's always creep me out, I really hate them -_-

    11. Doll chateau Elizabeth ;_; i screamed when i first saw her. I really hate spiders ;_;

    12. Oh, yes! I think my tastes pretty much hover around conventionally attractive and proportional faces, so a good majority of the artistic and stylistic BJDs just aren't my cup of tea. I recently stumbled upon Granado, and after exploring some of their dolls I can say that some of their really exaggerated male jaw lines and cheekbones do slightly unnerve me, but to each their own!

    13. That's exactly my point of view on this matter.
      Of course anything gore with scars, oddly-shaped or things like that will turn me down immediately.

    14. Glad to see I'm not alone in this! I definitely like to see what people do with supernatural sculpts and such, but I find that while well done, I cannot handle excessive and exaggerated features, especially sharp teeth, gore, etc.!

    15. Bobobie Charisma. I don't know why, just something about that face. Really unsettling to me :nowords:

    16. IOS Jaguar with the huge smile is a little unnerving. And Doll Chateu's long skinny bodies kinda creep me out too.

    17. I find the dolls modelled after celebrities to be terrifying. I find it's because they look like a "perfect" version of the celebrity that just seems so clinical. It's probably because I read way too much creepypasta for my own good!

    18. I'm generally not creeped out by many dolls, but I have to agree with many people about smiling dolls being creepy, especially realistic ones like the smiling ElfDoll Barbara. (Some tinies are great with smiles though, like the adoooorable Pukifee Pongpong~ He's precious! But also very stylized.)

      (Also I am...not sure if I should be surprised that I found a doll I really want in a "creepy dolls" thread... I think the DZ Carter is so cute, I hadn't heard of him until now and now I really want one. :sweat He's cute in a creepy way, I guess? Considering I'm someone who usually likes super cutesy and sweet looking dolls, I'm surprised I like him so much!)

    19. I actually find Mona adorable, but she would make me too sad to keep.

      Wide toothy smiles tend to be the one thing that consistently creep me out. And the vampires with their bright red tongues sticking out...

    20. I think I am probably the only person on the planet creeped out by most of Fairyland's more recent sculpts. They just have this sort of soulless, pitiful quality that turns my stomach. o_o;;;

      Then again, I love Doll Chateau and DZ and most of the freaky horror dolls and weird ones too. ^^; Conventionally pretty dolls are just sort of boring to me. But Fairyland...they creep me out lately.
