Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. Well, sort of? xD

Two of my dolls were called Sinclair and Prince, but it just didn't... it wasn't really enough. So I renamed them Murdock and Malachi, but kept their previous names as surnames. So now they are Murdock Sinclair and Malachi Prince. Heh :)

    2. If so, Why?
I thought the sculpt and size would be a good fit for a character that I created that I wanted to 'come alive.' But as I played with her, I realized it didn't fit and so I had to change her name.

      Did it feel strange?
Not really. For quite a while I kept forgetting that I changed her name so I would call her by the first name then I would have to correct myself.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
My character and the doll didn't fit, I got a new doll that hopefully fits my character better. I didn't want to sell the doll I had gotten, so I just changed her name :)

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't?
Yeah, names are easy to change...it's just remembering that you did change the name.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
Sometimes, yeah. Other times I see them waiting and looking forward to see what they will be called.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
As I've kinda said, when I first got the doll for my one character, I played around with her - posing, changing clothes, etc. I've found as I got to know her she didn't fit my character very well, so I realized I couldn't 'force' my character on her as she already had a different personality so I had to come up with a different name. (And get a new doll that hopefully fits my character better!)

    3. I have never changed one of my doll's names. However, I have changed a character's name and I may change a doll's name in the future.

    4. I have changed an old doll's name before, but it didn't stick and I eventually went back to her old name even though i didn't like it. It was just what I was used to a remembered the best.

    5. I've never changed a doll's name, nor have I ever reshelled a doll.

    6. My Resinsoul An started off as Quincy before I bought him, and when he came home I named him Grady. My partner just HATED his name though, so I begrudgingly re-named him "Miles." It didn't feel right for a long time, but it feels okay now. I call him Miley which I think suits him best. ^.^

    7. I've recently renamed 2 dolls after giving their look a major overhaul. They didn't seem to fit anymore even though the personalities of the dolls haven't changed much.
The name changes also gave these 2 names that fit in better with the rest of the crew.

My dolls aren't based off existing characters, they evolve into characters once they get here so changes are a natural part of the process I think!

    8. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? Indeed, I have.

If so, Why? The first name I'd initially given them didn't really fit them as their character evolved.

Did it feel strange? Haha, no. It just didn't fit.

Did you get tired of the old name? No. Did it become too popular? Popularity isn't a factor. Their character shining through is, though. Did it not seem like the doll's real name? Yes, exactly.

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't? Only if necessary.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called? Somewhat yes. Typically, I've set their given names beforehand in my wish list, but sometimes, it's happened that when they've arrived the name I've given them didn't match up in person.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her? Not entirely...I've just gotten to learn more aspects of their character.

    9. I have before, though that turned out to be only temporary as it turned out her original name suited her better than anything else I could come up with. I would only change a doll's name if I felt that it didn't suit them, I don't think I could ever get tired with a name only more attached and I don't even consider name popularity when picking one.

I feel like a doll can give off a different impression in person and over time can spark off different ideas in terms of their character, so I believe in that sense they do have 'something of a life of their own'. With my current doll her personality has changed a lot after I got her, hence the name changes. Though I have also become quite attached with her name now, so I don't think I will be changing it again.

    10. Have you ever renamed a doll you own?
Yep, I renamed my Soom Nephelin from... something so wrong I can't even remember it, to Velia.

      If so, Why?
Velia's old name just never 'clicked'. I could tell something was wrong because I could never remember it, when I'm usually incredibly keyed into my characters. I liked the meaning/feeling of the name itself, but it just didn't match the character at all, and so I could never connect it to her when I thought about her.

      Did it feel strange?
The concept of renaming her felt strange, but once I settled on Velia as her new name, everything clicked and felt much better.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
The last one - it just didn't fit my Nephelin's character.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
Yes, sometimes it does feel that way. Names can feel 'wrong', which means they can also feel 'right'. I wouldn't go so far as to say the doll wants anything or has a life of its own, but the characters my dolls represent certainly do.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
No, her character stayed the same. It was her strongly defined character that made the first name not fit, so her not needing to change to fit the second name was rather the point. Otherwise I would have kept her old name and changed her character.

    11. My Dollmore Banji was originally named Nita, which means 'bear'. I was having trouble 'bounding' with her and realized her name should be Sparrow instead. She is way more like a bird than a bear.

    12. Have you ever renamed a doll you own?
Kind of. Not the first name, but the second names and surnames.

      If so, Why?
I redesigned my AS Kimo and felt he needed a new middle and surname that was more suiting. My Mc Michelle is a troublesome lady, but I do think she'll stick to her current name. My Soom Sammi is named Samanya and I decided to give her a middle name (Amara) and surname (McKenna), so her initals spell "SAM". xD Because I'm a strange person, that is why.

      Did it feel strange?
A little. I can't bring myself to change the first name, if I already settled on something though. Or maybe they justed wanted to keep those.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
I like the meaning of names to be connected to the doll somehow and because it felt better.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
It does feel that way doesn't it? I have had ordered cancelled due items being out of stock / order didn't come through, while I already made names for them. I can't re-use those names either. It feels wrong. So these characters pass on and the new doll get's names that were searched out with him/her in mind.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?

Yes! I had very different plans for some of my dolls, but some of them wouldn't stick to it. So I adjust my plans instead.

    13. I have a beautiful minifee rheia girl named Nadine. But lately when I look at her the name just doesn't fit.
I was playing my favorite game ever (psyconauts) and I started noticing that the artist faceup she came with makes her look a lot like the game character lili. Now all I want to do is call her lili. But I'm not sure it's cool to just randomly change my dolls name when I've been posting with her first name.

Anyone want to give me some advice?

    14. I don't see anything wrong with it, after all people can change their names, so why not dolls?

    15. Go ahead! People can change their names, so I don't see why dolls can't! :D

If it bothers you, you can always note down that she used to be called "..." before... For the first few times you post, so no one who knows your doll is confused. But I don't think anyone would find it a problem, whatever you do!

    16. Sure..why not? Everyone should have at least one alias lol!

    17. Your doll, your choice! At the end of the day if you think that would suit her more, change her name to that. :)

    18. Some of my dolls went through some identity issues so no shame in changing the name. I changed Avalon's name from Arcani to Avalon.

    19. there is nothing wrong with that! if the name doesn't suit your doll then give them one that will make you happy! people change their names all the time, i'm sure its fine for your doll too!

    20. I have a character in mind and I find a doll whose look I think will fit, the name the company calls the doll has nothing to do with why I want the doll. I have changed the names of my dolls because when they arrived they didn't fit the story but they found another part to play
