1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I've changed the names of my dolls before, it's not really a big deal. :)

    2. Yes, I think it's completely fine! Although, when I decided to change my MSD boy from Aalden to Kyoske, I just ended up putting the names together (like first and middle name) because I have a hard time making decisions >_<

    3. I guess it is. But it seems kinda hard. Its like renaming a pet to me..
maybe if you give them a new style, face up and personality itmight be easyer.

    4. I think sometimes that can be a hard decision, but it is definitely okay! If you feel like your doll better fits a different character then go ahead and change her name!

    5. I am probably the minority here, but I rename my doll everytime he gets a face up. Then again, because I only have the one, there is no confusion as to which one I'm talking about. So if you feel Lili is more apropriate, then go for it. Call the doll Lili. (I guess for me the names are like clothes, You pick the best one for the day :-) )

    6. Do as you please.

    7. Yes, I think it's totally fine to rename a doll. I've done it with my Soom Monzo and one of my floating heads (Migidoll Cynical Ryu). Honestly I couldn't tell you what either of their names were before because their new names fit so much better.

    8. I've changed my dolls names many times, they have never complained!

    9. Of course you can change your doll's name! I changed my name legally when I was 18.

    10. There is no law against changing your doll's name! ;)

I have a doll that didn't just change names; he changed characters too. When I bought him, I didn't judge his size very well. He arrived and just didn't look right with his siblings. In fact, his face didn't look right with them either! But I liked him as a doll and didn't want to send him away. In the end, I bought another doll to be his original character, and turned him into someone else entirely. His new identity fits him much better. It's an improvement all around!

So, sure: a change of name can make a great difference for the better. And if it does that, why not go for it?

    11. You should do what makes YOU happy! If she looks more like a Lili, then go for it!
My roommate did that to one of her doll... i kept calling him by the wrong name. XD
But after a while you get used to it and then everyone is happy!

    12. It is "okay" to do whatever you want with the doll that you own. Give it any kind of faceup that suits your fancy, dress it in whatever you want or dress it in nothing if that's what you want, make it any character of any kind that you want it to be, call it Bob, call it Jim, call it Sally, call it by a different name every day of the week if you want, sell it after a day, never sell it at all, mod the heck out of it, never mod it at all......
there are no rules as to what you can or can't do with your doll. No "okay" or "not okay". Rename it as many times as you like.

    13. My second doll was Nita for months, and I had trouble bonding with her. Then I realized her name ought to be Sparrow. I've connected with her better since I changed it! :)

    14. I have never done that. Its like changing their identity even if they are not human

    15. I've renamed my dolls several times, mostly because when they arrived the name didn't suit them at all. I was tempted to change the name of my first doll (Castiel) since the name seems to be quite popular. In the end the name was so stuck on him that I ended up keeping it, but ended up having a full name which describes him entirely. I did rename a doll to fit my naming scheme. It was kind of odd calling that doll a different name after calling the doll that name for so long, but it was no big deal (other than your friends taking a while to get used to using the new name to refer to your doll).

    16. I have a few dolls who've had name changes. Most of this stems from changing the wig/eyes till they click.

    17. I can't say that I have ever renamed a doll. The names I pick are so perfect and meaningful at the time they just stick. There is no way I could imagine my dolls with another name.

    18. Have you ever renamed a doll you own?
Yep! My Kid Delf Romantic Yul boy used to be named Ewan. Now his name is Miles.

      If so, Why?
I just couldn't make "Ewan" work as a character. I then started developing Miles and realized my Yul was perfect for him.

      Did it feel strange?
On occasion when I call him Ewan on accident.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
No, he just wasn't working. I still like the name.

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't?
Probably, if they fit better as something else.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
Not particularly. I just play with names until one sticks, as it were.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
In some, yes. The more I played, the more a character developed around them.

    19. I bought mine second hand. Changed his first name, but I made his original first name his middle name. To honor them and such.

    20. I renamed one of my dolls when I felt I had out grown the character, but not the doll. She's currently off getting a new face-up to match the new name. Can't wait to be reacquainted :)
