Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. The name didn't change, and that is what changed! I had made a list of names for my doll, but her sculpt name was just what seemed to fit! Even her personality changed, but not the name. :XD:

    2. I recently tried renaming my Hyejoo but the name is too stuck with me to change.... T_T

    3. I rename all my dolls. It can take a while to find the perfect name but I like them to all to have an individual personality and name to suit. Sometimes they remind me of a character I loved as a child from a book, other times it may be a cute, or apt name taken from say, a favourite wig. One of my dolls is called Moppett after her dredlock wig and curly tibetan ones which suit her the best.

    4. I'm going through this with one of my dolls right now. I had picked a name but it doesn't seem to fit, therefore I'm changing it.

    5. Some dolls names are perfect on the first naming, others take a few tries before the correct one is found. Right now I have two that are with 'temp' names until the right one presents itself, lol.

    6. I usualy don't unless there is a really good reason for it. The only doll I have ever renamed to date was my doll Finn (Now Brennan) because I wanted to base a doll on an older character I had named Finn and didn't want two Finns. ;)

    7. When I was waiting for my Supia Lina I was so sure her name was going to be Aroura. I've had this name in mind for years, but when she arrived, she seemed to not take to the name. Even talking about her using that name seemed wrong in a sense. ^^" But not much later the name Sweets popped into my head and that was it. My lovely sweets! Sometimes dolls seem name themselves! :sweat

    8. I'm actually having this problem as I wait for my girl to come home. I'm having trouble finding a name that 'clicks' with me for her, so I'm hoping a good name will pop into my head once she's in my hands.

    9. I haven't ever done this in the past, but I may be renaming (and re-shelling) one of my dolls in the not-too-distant future. The sculpt I have her in currently doesn't seem like quite the right fit, but I do like the sculpt quite a bit, so I'm looking around a bit for another doll that might fit the existing character better, and considering a new character and name for the existing doll, that will fit the sculpt better.

    10. I decided that I preferred the name "Padraic" for one of my dolls, but I've had them for a while under the names I originally gave them, and it feels strange to change the name so suddenly. So, I decided that "Padraic" is actually my doll's middle name, and that he's just started using his middle name instead of his first (as some people do!) Problem solved.

    11. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? Yes

If so, Why? I originally bought him to shell a well known fictional character but when he arrived he just didn't seem to fit. Then I came up with my original characters and family was born, he fit right into the roll of half brother and we both felt better.

Did it feel strange? A little but he fit the new roll so well that it passed quickly.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name? No he became an entirely different person so the original name had no meaning.

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't? n/a

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called? I think that it is a part of me that is transferred into the doll's significance to me. When I see the doll or interact with him, it is through that link I have mentally established for him. That relationship takes those things and triggers a type of internal but external dialogue.Essentially giving him his own personality and 'life'.
Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her? Yes, but only slightly, it was as if he was trying hard to be who he was purchased to be but just couldn't do it. His appearance triggered something in me and his personality was born and it wasn't the one I thought I wanted in the beginning. I am happier now that we are in sync.

    12. Have you ever renamed a doll you own?

Usually that occurs before I click the buy button but I have renamed one on layaway.

      If so, Why?

I decided he was going to be another character.

      Did it feel strange?

Yeah...coz I was gunning for him to be someone and then suddenly I decided against it. I haven't been able to bond with him since. Good thing he's a minor character.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?

No...it was just because I realized that he was too short to be the character I wanted him to be.

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't?

I have a Luts TDF Alice...and because she isn't a character, I haven't bothered naming her at all. She is always going to be an Alice.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?

Well, I hope not. I got them for a specific character so I'll be mighty teed off they didn't fit that character.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?

Yeah...that usually occurs because of the faceup.

    13. I haven't renamed one of my dolls.
I usually make a list of names that appeal to me when I'm waiting for my doll to arrive, and then see what works.
On a few occasions they have been named after existing characters (book, original writing)
To me it would be very strange to rename them, since a whole peronality has grown around that name.
I have one doll that had a personality change as I got to know him. Character overhaul, but the name didn't change.

    14. It's always difficult matters to choose a right name for my doll. I actually name my doll first before they arrive. So the problem is, sometimes they aren't like what you see from official photos or what you try to explain and tell your plan to an artist. (I can imagine how difficult for a doll owner to tell her plan or image of her doll to an artist, and artist can understand and see the same picture ^^) I have experienced twice; first from my MD Mir. After face up by an artist, he looked too cute. And second, my IH Ryan. He can't be called Nobuhito because he isn't look like so... :D I'm glad that I changed his name to Alaistair after getting him.

    15. I tried to rename my first doll, she lived with company name for a long time. But I can't find a good name for her and sold her finally.

    16. Ok so the title is a bit strange, I mean how do you "accidentally" rename a doll? Well I can assure you this has happened at least once and to me no less. I will tell you my story but I wonder has this happened to you or anyone else?

      Here is how it happened:

I had gotten my first doll, a Light Tan Bobobie Apollo, he had a name before he came home and it was Helios. I loved him but had a hard time bonding with him, he didn't have the face up I envisioned for his character. Well finally after a year with him I was able to give him a new face up that included a beard! He was now the fuzzy-faced, long haired, up beat, warm hearted blond I had wanted him to be, I completely bonded with him and was smitten. Then Halloween happened... I host a doll meet in my area and we collectively decide on events for meet ups, for Halloween we dressed up our dolls and our selves, yay a costume party! I dressed Helios up as a Pirate, which came fantastic and his friend was a mermaid also a great costume for her, light purple is just her color.

It was while at the costume party that one of my doll friends pointed out that Helios looked like a character from a game, she called him Guybrush. I wasn't familiar with the character so I brushed it off at the time. But when I got home I looked the character up... OMG he looked just like him, even the face up I had done was similar to his beard. Weeks after I found my self unconsciously calling Helios, Guybrush... or just Guy for short. I am still mentally fighting the urge to call him Guy and keep trying to convince my self he is still Helios... but that sneaky little voice in the back of my mind snickers and says "Girl who are you kidding, that's Guybrush." Le sigh... :doh

    17. This sort of happened with me and a Dollshe Bernard. I had always wanted a Dollshe Bernard and finally purchased one second hand right around the time of Detour. I had named him Glig Ijah Marsche but I had the brilliant(?) idea of dressing him up as Gilbert from Pandora Hearts for Detour(spent 18 hours sewing his outfit in one day and temporarily burned out my sewing machine in the process) and absolutely adored his sculpt as Gilbert. And then after Detour he just kind of never went back to being Glig(It's been about two years since then, oops)... I will eventually have Glig again as another Bernard but this particular Bernard is now irreversibly Gilbert XD Even if he has kind of become a little skewed of a Gilbert(I purchased a pair of black feather wings for another doll and tried them on Gilbert for the heck of it, because, you know, Raven, ha XD And they have not come off of him yet >.> )

And thus my first (not-so-intentionally permanent) character doll! XD

    18. well, when I buyed my 2 first dolls from dream of doll (kirill and Ivan), I put them Johan and Jenda, but I was always called them with the name of his brother, I had to stop a couple of seconds before call them by they names for 1 or 2 months, now I don't do that mistake anymore hahahaha XD

    19. Honestly I've only done this when I've named a doll and then forgotten what I named it. Company names tend to stick with me since I spend so much time thinking of getting "X Company's ABC doll"--it's hard to lose the ABC later on.

    20. I changed the name of my Resinsoul girl recently. Her name was Elsa, given to her by the daughter of a friend, but when Frozen came out I didn't want to associate her with it and so changed her name to Sedna (she's an Undine/water sprite).
