It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. Nancy wasn't mine originally, she'd had belonged to a friend of my brothers (who is actually now my best friend :D) and at the time had been named Morgan. When I first saw her I /knew/ that she was simply Nancy but felt awful about just taking my friend's doll and callously changing her name. So for a while I called her Morgan still, and the I contemplated making 'Mogan' Nancy's last name as canonically her character is never given one, but over time she's just become completely Nancy in both my eyes and those of her old owner's x

    2. Yes, because I couldn't find a good name and character to fit the doll.

    3. I have renamed almost all of mine. Partly because their given names don't seem to suit them and partly because I can't pronounce half of them.

    4. No, mine still has the name he came with. Frankly, I wanted to change it, because it's a fairly common name. But he seems to have a personality of his own, and it's stubborn! He resists any changes I try to make.

    5. I named my Littlefee girl Anais Rose. However I don't love it as much as I did. I really am still wanting to change it to Alyssia Rose which I thinks flows nicer. But I'm scared to change it, I don't want it bother me that I changed her name and I don't want it to mess up her character.? :|

    6. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? Kind of. Loki started out as Blaize, but it changed two days after he was shipped, but before he arrived. Maddox was Pandora, again changing before her arrival. Amir's full name started out Zero Amir Angel, then changed to Basil Amir Angel, and now is Amir Angel Lindstrรถm.

      If so, Why?
Loki - I just "heard" him in my head screaming "It ain't Blaize, it's Loki. Get it ******* right!"
Maddox - same, only much nicer than her brother. lol
Amir - is a character thing. His dad had named him "Zero" because he didn't want him, saw him as nothing....Amir's ex-boyfriend picked the name Basil for him, which means king, as requested by Amir. but the relationship ended badly and he no longer wanted the name. So when he married Mikko, he kept Amir Angel and added Mikko's last name.

      Did it feel strange?
Not at all. It felt right, every time. but I think changing the name they are called after having them home and together would be very weird for me.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
      See above.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?

Since my dolls aren't just dolls but fully developed role play characters, then yes.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
yes, but not due to the name change. Loki turned more skater punk, as opposed to the goth I first assumed, and turned out to not be as confident as he first seemed. He's also much more forgiving with a heart of gold.
Maddox was supposed to be sultry, sexy, seductive, kind of scary...and is a giggly dork.
Amir started out very sweet and naive, though now is rather snarky and smirky...but this is a case of a character growing from a scared teen to confident man over 4 years, not due to character overhaul.

    7. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? I've renamed every doll I've owned. It's just part of finding their character.

If so, Why? Usually it's because the character has jumped molds, but a few times it's because I've renamed the character entirely.

Did it feel strange? Not if I've chosen the right name...if a name doesn't fit, I don't keep it.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
I never get "tired" of a name, nor have any of my dolls' names become popular. I usually change a name when it just doesn't fit the doll anymore.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called? In a way....once I find a name/character that fits, that's when the doll really comes alive.
Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her? My characters evolve as I write my stories, and my dolls' personalities evolve with that.

    8. I cant settle on names these days, I used to pick a name and stick to it, but now I just find myself refering to them by their sculpt names instead. I must have gone through five names already with my Iplehouse!

    9. When I got my Luts Bory I also got a free head as part of a Christmas deal, the 09 Senior Delf Wintery. For about 9 months his name was Bob, and he didn't even have a face-up, let alone a body.

At the end of the 9 months, I tried to sell the head, but like an actual gestational period, I fell in love with the head and suddenly had to get him a body and an actual personality. And so, Tarrant Lackette was "born". XD

    10. If so, Why?
'Hiko' just doesn't suit the doll now that it is male, with a different character perception. Instead of being a tiny blue gargoyle, they are a midsized mismatched android.

      Did it feel strange?
No. I heard something once about my people regarding naming 'issues'. Could have been rumor but I thought it made sense an took it to heart.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
It just doesn't suit the doll anymore. If a toaster begins to whisk, why continue calling it a toaster? Even so, some people naturally get their names changed.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
I wonder about that, but they will be understanding if I don't listen to them. I'm in a different plain.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
      Unfortunately yes kin of. More like their personality changed when I started swapping out body parts ^^;
makes sense if Dolls have souls I sort of just mixed three bits of soul together. *shrug* X3

    11. Darn it... I said no and then remembered I had.

    12. I've renamed a couple, but usually in the beginning of their lives with me. Even picking an initial name takes a lot of thought and consideration of possibilities, and sometimes it just clicks. But other times, it just doesn't stick.

I had one fellow given a perfectly meaningful Japanese name - but there's a gulf between looking at a name in print and then actually saying it and having it stumble in your mouth repeatedly.... Currently, Makani, my island-boy, had a different Hawaiian name initially, but I could never seem to remember it. So I went with the name that did come to mind when trying to think of the other one. Additionally, Mamoru, my Li Jun Kee hybrid, keeps telling me he's not Japanese but some other kind of Asian, so I expect his name will change as well--

    13. I've never renamed a doll - I always stick with one name for one character (they might switch characters though), but they do tend to get shortened to one syllable x'D Like Rembrandt, he quickly became 'Rem' and now it feels odd to name him Rembrandt, as if you're calling someone by their second name.

    14. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? Yep. My female Heliot, Eleri, used to be...someone else? I don't even remember. And My ND girl (Sabine) used to be named Heike, while my EID girl (Heike) used to be Sabine.

If so, Why? Eleri's old name was one with which I was never satisfied. She needed something similar to the name of my male Heliot, Eoran. Sabine and Heike got the name swap simply because each seemed better suited to the name of the other.

      Did it feel strange? Nah.

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name? The first and the last are correct. The middle is silly. (Just my opinion, natch.)

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't? Sure.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called? No. But some faces just don't match my view of certain names.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her? As much as it can, yes.

    15. I sometimes do, but in general it depends on if I like the name to begin with or not. Some I also change if I don't feel it fits as well as another name might.

    16. Have you ever renamed a doll you own? Yes!

If so, Why? I felt that my doll(s) needed a different name.

Did it feel strange? Sometimes it does, to find the right name.

Did you get tired of the old name? I didn't really get "tired" of the old name (in most cases). Did it become too popular? I don't care if it's popular; I go with what I think seems right! Did it not seem like the doll's real name? Yeah.

Would you rename a doll if you already haven't? Do you mean 'Would you rename a doll you already have renamed?' If I can't get a name to stick, maybe.

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called? Well, I never really thought about it that way. I choose names that I think fit my dolls.

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her? Usually not much.

    17. I had just renamed my doll. His name used to be Kumi, but I got tired of it. Kumi is the name of a character of mine that can be changed to fit almost all genres. He was everywhere, even in doll form. So I decided to keep the doll, but change everything. He name, personality, his race (yes, dollie was a demon). Now he's Asul Wan, a Chinese boy. It just seems better this time. Now he just needs a new wig and wardrobe.

    18. i ended up renaming one of my dolls about 3 different times till i found a name he liked and fit his personality...it started out as michael, then luka crosszeria, now he's named Xerampelinae Luka Crosszeria

    19. Have you ever renamed a doll you own?
      Yes :)

      If so, Why?
Because the name was too common and long, i don't totally rename my dolls but adding nicknames

      Did it feel strange?
      Sometimes :)

Did you get tired of the old name? Did it become too popular? Did it not seem like the doll's real name?
I came to think that it doesn't suit my doll and its becoming too popular too :)
Would you rename a doll if you already haven't?
      Depends :)

Do you feel as if your doll has something of a life of its own, a name it already wants to be called?
      Yes hahaha

Did the personality of your doll change as you got to know him/her?
Yes, Very much. sometimes i feel that my doll don't want that name (sounds creeppy) xD but lol sometimes i just feel that i don't suit my doll :))

    20. I've changed how I refer to my dolls.

I originally gave my dolls titles rather than names - my first four were just called The Gentleman, The Lady, The General, and The Stranger. But eventually I felt like they needed names (I think it was because at doll #4 I discovered the doll community, and my perspective changed a little bit).
