1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have you made provisions for your dolls if you die?

May 15, 2005

    1. What a fascinating question! I haven't thought about it before but I guess I should. I don't want my dolls to go to some stupid grandchildren of my mother's friend, and I'm sure that's what my mother would do. I want two of my dolls to go to my best friend, she will take good care of them. And my favorite doll, I'll take him with me to the grave. Yes, I will. I won't let anyone else have him, whether it is cruel and egoistic or not.

    2. I think I will pass one to each of my daughters, if they have any interest in dolls when they get older and one will definately be buried with me...its a strong tradition in my family to bury our loved ones with at least one of their favorite possesions

    3. I haven't really thought about it. If I were to die sometime soon my family would inherit them, but if I get much older I hope I'll get some nice litte nieces/nephews who I can convert to bjd-fans.

I don't have any plans for children of my own, so I'm relying on my to younger siblings to reproduce and since they're quite young it might be a while.

    4. Hmm. I'm 17 now, I wonder if my kiddies would survive until I die (bleak topic actually @_@). Yellowy resin and such... I don't know, maybe if my sister wanted her..... whoever has the interest I guess (I couldn't know from now)

    5. What a depressing thought...but, I guess my doll collectors friends would get them or my family will sell them for fifty bucks. Since they are completely clueless.

My mom went with me to the Volks LA store. She passed out when she saw how much the dolls and clothes sell for.

    6. My boys will go to my son & DIL and the girls will stay with DD. I am 50 so it's something I have thought of. MK

    7. No but... Thinking on it now I'd like my doll, and any I get in the future, to go to my boyfriend. He enjoys them so my doll would be better with him than with my parents or something...

There is also the option of selling them and just giving the money raised to someone... It's tough actually. I would probably rather they be sold and the money used for someones enjoyment than for someone, like my boyfriend for instance, to be stuck with a doll he only sort of likes.

I'm not sentimental, can you tell?

      How depressing!

    8. I need to update my will, but as of the last version of it, the dolls and bears get devided among my godchildren... as does pretty much everything except the costume and fabrics collection which gets devided among any of my costuming friends who can put it to use (but judging by the current state of play, Number-One Godsprog will be among those costumers anyway and the others might well be too)

    9. has anyone ever seen that place in italy i think where like the dead are perfectly preserved. and theres a little girl in a glass coffin... yeah... thats what I want. so if science perfects this i want to be put in a glass coffin and my dolls can be with me... if not, im willing them out to my family and friends who I know willl care for them. i dont ever want them sold or mis used. and i dont think i could ever toss them out to sea @_@.

    10. if i die like soon, i guess is the word i'm looking for they go to my best freind cause she likes dolls, too.

if it's like when i'm older and have kids they go to them, whether they like dolls or not. if they want to sell them let them. it's not like they do much good to me if i'm dead. let them get some cash out of it if they don't like them.

    11. I've made no provisions but I should. Otherwise my sisters would probably sell them at a yard sale for $10 apiece!

      Carolyn

    12. Ah... I think they would be evenly spread between my friends and if I ever have children they would probably be passed onto them. I'm 20 right now so I'm hoping the prospect of dying wont be coming anytime soon. XD

    13. But just think what a start it would give to some impoverished newbie just starting out on the road to BJD addiction to find them there and buy them....!

      Teddy

    14. Honestly? I have no idea what I'd do... haven't thought that far ahead! I might give them to my mother, or if not that maybe donate them someplace where they won't be seperated... *shrugs* Maybe to a good friend of mine if we're still in touch that far down the road.

    15. I don't really think about that...it's a horrible thought! I know if a friend left me their doll when they died, I'd be afraid of them posessing the doll... And I'd be scared to throw/sell it away in case they curse me...
I just don't really want to think about that.

Though the comment about cremation makes me giggle. Resin fumes would kill everyone at the funeral xDD Could do that if you hated your relatives, I suppose.

    16. usually they don't burn your body at the funeral. you have a veiwing, then they send the body to be incenerated. then they call you to pick up the ashes. you'd only possible kill the works at the inceneration plant.

    17. hmm.....id probably give her to my friend GothicHinata becuase our dolls will be married :)

    18. This makes me sad. My parents prob. won't be around to get them. If I have kids, they will get them. If not I'll have them sold to someone who will care for them, the thought of them just sitting around unloved is kind of worst then keeping them with me forever.

    19. i dont know yet...the one my boyfriend likes most would go to him, some to be heirlooms, maybe others to friends...i dont know. i dont really want to think about it lol

    20. I've actually never thought of these things.. o_O;; not that I'm a happy-go-lucky person but I guess people "behind" me can do whatever they want with my "belongings" as long as it's been "equally" divided amongst themselves, but then there are greedy people in this world so.. XP i might actually consider taking these things to mind.. owo
