It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Have your dolls been mistaken for real people?

Jan 17, 2009

    1. LMAO! XD Even my mom cracked up at the story about the old crazy lady on the train! :XD:

    2. I always mix up doll photos for real people on Deviantart "Dangit! Why aren't any of these hot guys real?!"

No one's taken my doll for real people unless you count my baby cousin trying to talk to them and my dog trying to avoid my dolls because he thinks they are babies (I dunno where he learned it, usually he jumps on everyone, but if he sees a baby he knows not to go nuts on them)

    3. I showed a pic on Flickr of one of the more realistic sculpts to a friend (I think it was Soom's Dia or Deneb.) The picture wasn't showing any of her joints or anything, so he commented on how hot he thought "that girl" was. He was shocked when I told him it was a doll, and asked if they make them life-sized. XD

    4. I was walking though a mall to get to the train station with my friend and a huge group of teenage girls crowded around us and started asking questions (I don't know if any of you have been to Birmingham in the UK but teenage girls from the inner city are not pleasant people... I should know, I was one XD).
One of them came up to me and yelled "OMG is that real? It isn't moving..."
I snapped at her and said "Of course it isn't!! It's a doll!!"
I feel really bad about it now but I had been there since 10am and it was already 7pm by the time we were going home. I also didn't like the way the girls were behaving. It was pretty obvious they were up to no good and I was worried that they would try to take one of the dolls or pickpocket us while we were distracted.

    5. I had a woman at a school concert ask me what was wrong with my baby. She was very relieved to find a proportional doll and not a disturbingly anorexic baby...

    6. That reminds me of a time when I was watching Advent Children on a computer at school, and some mexican dude started talking about how hot he would totally date the "blonde girl" (translation: Cloud)....it was so unexpected that all of us watching completely fell apart laughing.

    7. cyrillezhane, Your BJD's name is Brendon? I love Panic at the Disco! Lol..
Sorry, off topic, don't kill me. >_<

    8. I had a picture of my dolls as my avatar on my IM program. Someone thought they were real and asked if it was my boyfriend. Before I answered he was allready: Wow, didn't think he would have such a nice body! Does he work out?

    9. I was in the bank with my friend one day (I'd just gone along with her, so I was standing at the back wall) and this one lady kept telling me my "daughter's" feet were going to get cold. I tried explaining that HE was a doll, but she just kept saying "Get her some shoes, her feet are cold." I eventually gave up. xD

    10. My avatar...-points at avatar- Well...:| My mum took a glance only and said, 'gosh, what a vain girl'.
Me: stare a bit more pwease...
Mum: -stares- Oh...ch', it's just Apollo

I use that photo as my display picture on MSN...and a lot of people never notice his elbow joint and start going, 'OMG~ pretty lady~' or 'is that you?'(they've never met me before) or 'you're a les?!'

Me: He's male damnit! You blind people....
      Them: WHAT?!!
      Me: M.A.L.E. Can read?
      Them: So pretty?!!!
      Me: Yes

Only 2 other silly guys continued to chat about him. The rest just got too creeped out to continue asking. So the other 2 guys said 'pretty guy. your boyfriend? i know you like pretty guys.'
Me: ya...i wish too...but this guy's only 62cm tall. with platforms, he's 63cm. not a good boyfriend material.
Guys: -rofl- it's your doll is it~? so misleading. LOL

They knew I had a doll, but never did show interest or faked any interest. I love them for it.

    11. well this wasn't my doll and isn't quite the same, but i found it funny:

I attend an art school, and all around our campus we have cabinets to display student work. Pretty much every teacher has their own display case. Well, for the longest time there was this "Surreal" photograph in the photography case that had a real picture of a man's skeleton in the background, and what looked like a really skinny person in the foreground, kinda blurred out.

I must have walked past that thing a thousand times for the few quarters it was up there before one day I stopped, suddenly, and realized that wasn't a person at all but a naked BJD. XD I wish I'd found out who it belonged to, since it would have been nice to find another BJD person around, but it was a really cool pic.

    12. What on earth? lol XD I can understand misinterpreting a picture or speech or something but... BJDs are not even the right proportion to be actual children. o.O I really can't see how someone would do that

    13. I've had pictures of Caleb mistaken as real before. Someone actually though it was me (I'm a girl by the way) and said that I was beautiful. I thought it was funny.

    14. I had a lady at target tell me "No offense, your doll is really beautiful, but it creeped me out because I thought it was a really anorexic baby!"

      lol

    15. I have a picture of my girl as my Facebook profile. A few of my friends came up to me the next day asking whose face that was in my profile pic- they thought it was a real person! :O

    16. I went into a store one time, and sat Mykal on a table, while i looked at something, and needed my hands. He flopped back on the table, and a lady came over and said "OMG, did he hurt his head?" Then she got close enough to see it was a doll LOL

    17. On some sites my display picture is of my girl Mizzy, since I don't like posting my own picture everywhere. I don't know how many messages I've gotten on the one site along the lines of "You're GORGEOUS, do you model?" or "HOW DID YOU DO THAT TO YOUR EYES?!" (she has purple pupiless eyes)
Also when I first got my little Nekomimi, I took her to the mall to get some Barbie clothes for her, and had her peeking out the side of my purse... so many people asked me how I kept my 'chihuahua' so quiet and well behaved. xD

    18. My friend and I were cruising the dollar store and I had my mnf chiwoo in the basket seat. I noticed an older woman kinda creeping towards him. I turned to watch and she sighed (in relief I guess) and told me she thought it was a real baby at first.

    19. Someone on Deviantart thought my doll was a real girl and commented so. It made me happy to hear that someone thought she looked alive. c:

    20. I too have had my SD mistaken for a baby on more than one occasion. :huh?:

I personally don't understand how that mistake occurs, as has been noted, the proportions don't really translate...but it does make me wonder: Why do so many people mistake our dolls for babies?

Is it just that they see us holding something with care and that it has a head, clothes, and legs, and is of about the proper size...so assume it can't be anything else? It's very curious.

...it certainly does make for interesting outings sometimes, I will admit.
Recently I exited the passenger seat of my car, holding my doll, and another woman in the parking lot gave me the dirtiest look you can imagine thinking that I was in the car with a baby not in a car seat...somehow it made me feel like a horrible person anyway...:sorry
