Have your dolls hurt you?

Oh wow. All these injuries from restringing alone is enough to make me not want to attempt it. Like ever. xD; I'm such a noob when it comes to restringing and stuff. I think I'd cry at having to take my boy's head off to say, put on a shirt or something cause I have absolutely no clue! >> I need to learn. And to make sure that this stays on topic, so far I've not been hurt by my doll but that's probably cause I don't dare do all that much with him yet. xD; I guess time will tell.

 

So far they only hurt my wallet.

Ugh, so last weekend I was up late doing homework when I glanced at my clock and noticed it was midnight, so I was like, "Whoa it's officially tomorrow!! Meaning...it's officially...today. Which means...it's officially my 19th birthday!!" So I grabbed a bunch of brownies and mini snack cakes I'd been saving and brought them to share with the other nocturnal kids still awake in the student lounge. Then one boy suggested I bring one of my dolls to help us celebrate. ^^ I go back and grab my Beryl, Miss Bell, and we all just kind of have a mini party/late night snack-fest in the lounge and people are holding Evie-Bell and looking at her hooves and whatnot, and it's all good. ^-^
When everyone starts to disperse to go back to their dorm rooms, I'm carrying the half-empty snack boxes and Evie-Bell in my arms and I go back to room too----however, when I unlock the door I trip on a shoe I left in the door way and fall forward!! I purposely let go of the boxes so I can get a better grip on my girl, and I manage to hold her, unscathed. :,D However, with her massive hoof she STOMPS on right hand SO HARD, and I have to resist yelling out because my roommate was sick and sleeping. It stung SO BAD, I had to run to the bathroom and run it under cold water. I swear, this is the look she gave me after I recovered and was setting her in my desk chair for the night:

"Don't you DARE let me be manhandled by your grubby floormates again. Happy Birthday. Bitch."

My heliot's hooves hurt to take on and off ¬_¬ I think the stringing on my Sabik may have a few blood stains from where the elastic pinged back and caught my finger between joints and such, to.

 

Indirectly- my wife's doll has a set of steampunk brass wings, and when i was doing some work on them i managed to blow a glob of molten solder onto my bare leg with the propane torch

 

A bit ago, Ryuichi caught me while I was restringing him [my first successful restringing! ]. He caused me to hit myself in the jaw! ITAI!

Eeek, these stories make me cringe... e__e

Thankfully I haven't suffered more than a few joint pinches and dolls collapsing on top of me (Daolan's rather top-heavy and Milo... he just likes to fall off of everything).

 

Yesterday I restrung a doll for a friend of mine, and while pulling up the elastics into her head, i got a chunk of my left leg inbetween her torso and abdomen parts. It cut straight trough my pants and draw quite a surprising lot of blood.

Sounds kinda cool "the doll who drew blood".

Yessssss...I have hurt my hands many times re-stringing. Rope-like burns. >__<

 

Me and my dolls keep bumping heads a lot >.< also same as most of doll owners i been pinched by joints^^

 

My Minifee girl only tends to headbutt me in the nose when I'm fixing her skirts. My Soom MD on the other hand. Ugh. I've pulled my shoulder muscles the first few minutes I had him changing his legs, and that hurt for days. I've also slipped trying to use my pliars to get a decent grip on the S-hooks in his feet (before making a loop out of a hanger to do it instead) and draw blood at least twice. I had this horrible bloody mark down my hands for a while from one of the S-hooks, it was fairly deep too. I've since swiped a pair of forceps from my boyfriend (who used them for holding computer bits) and manage to slip those in a joint or two above what I'm trying to work on instead.
I mostly only get hurt restringing when I start to get impatient.

There's this one time one of my boys booted me in the nose when I was changing his pants (I think it was my Chase), didn't really cause' any grievous hurt but it did draw laughter from my brother who saw it happened. -_-

 

Well... my 3 have never been really fussy, but once I was moving Shun's eyes around, the glad cut my finger pretty deeply. And the back of those things are so razor sharp, you don't really feel anything at first. Before I knew it, I was dripping bloody everywhere, but luckily none of it got on him. I couldn't help cursing at him, though I feel kinda bad about it now. Happened almost 2 years ago anyway.

 

Early on, my first strung girl headbutted me surprisingly often before I got the hang of handling the elastic. It's now an in-joke of mine to have my other girls also give "headbutts of love".

Other than that, the same finger burns and pains from restringing. Kinda self-inflicted since I like the stringing nice and tight.

 

I've gotten sore red fingers from trying to restring my little one ^w^\ plus when I first got her I found out she likes to kick back and so she sort of kicked me... she's also kicked back at everybody else that's held her, even after I warned them just 'cause she does it suddenly ^w^;

 

I will never restring my dolls by myself ever again, after fingers being pinched nails bent and split and bleeding and cursing, sweating like a pig, yeah my dolls put me thru heck and then some!

 

Other than one night when my dolls tried to strangle me in my sleep, I have had no injuries...

 

some headbutts while dressing, some joint pinches and those hooks can be a real drag when restringing.. ouch..
