Have your dolls hurt you?

Jan 21, 2009

    1. XD its not 'dangerous' really. Just like any other thing that can physically hurt if you're a litle clumsy and get in the way somehow. Like walls ^.~;

      basically, the extent of damage a doll can cause includes teeny bruises from them faceplanting on you (i once got a teeny bruise by my collarbone from a pointy nosed Shall who decided to bend over while i was holding her XD) or pinching you with joints and tight stringing, to maybe sore fingers from restringing, and depending on how tight the string is or if you slip or something, maybe a small cut from the s-hook somehow. I've enver gotten cuts, but i've gotten little bruises. Nothing major, nothing i didnt laugh at. Its certainly nothing to be worried about =]

    2. I am sorry but I found this hilarious. I hope...things are better now. o_o

    3. wow this thread is ... um ... funny. i thought i was the only klutz at this until recently.
      mostly finger-pinching and circulation-cut-offs here... and yeah, the culprit was a tightly-strung body.

    4. oh, definitely. I've been headbutted quite a few times trying to pose them... I've been kicked, especially by the tightly strung karate kick action luts type 3 body. I've almost been poked in the eye by fingers, also posing XD. Fingers getting stuck in joints.. you know, the usual doll-related injuries.

      this didn't happen to me, specifically but I saw it occur at a meet a few years back, where someone's doll kicked it's foot up and the shoe went flying off and hit some poor girl in the head. it was quite hilarious, actually.

    5. My friend's doll kicked me while I was helping her restring him -_<
      Also, we had our fingers pinced by the joints plenty of times

      Arh, damn tight strings

    6. Well fingers in joints hurt, but skin on upper leg in torso joint is a pain. It happened to me when I was restringing and helping myself by holding the doll by legs. I will never ever do that again :lol:
      Also been head-attacked few times while posing. But this it nothing in compare with skin stuck in joints!

    7. Nothing major, just the usual being pinched by joints. Oh, and when she face-planted onto MY FACE. That hurt my nose, lol.

    8. My doll never hurts me but her new wig did.
      It gave me 2 little cuts on my pinky and ring fingers O.O

    9. JennyNemesis and kuraiangel's stories both made me laugh out loud while wincing in sympathy <3

      I got a pretty bad pinch the other night while stringing hoof feet onto a Sard--the sharp edges of the lower leg where it fits over the hoof are murder to handle while wrangling with tight elastic. i thought I'd get a finger-joint severed once or twice, but all i got was al alarmingly dark-red fingertip (circulation restored with no harm done, whew).

    10. My dolls have pinched my fingers a lot, I don't really mind it since pain doesn't really affect me too much, but when my friend was posing one of my boys she screamed, and when I asked what was wrong she said "he BIT me!!" AKA his chest joint pinched her finger.

    11. Brennen kicked me in the face once. X3 Right under my nose. I was showing him to a friend on webcam, and had his legs straight. His right leg, will at random times kick up behind him at the knee. His leg kicked back and the back of his foot hit me right on the bottom of the nose. It made my eyes water quite a bit. ^^; But other than that I've only had his knees pinch me every once in a blue moon.

    12. Hehe, yesterday I was unstringing my girl so I could toss some hot glue in her joints... taking her foot off, the s-hook got caught on the meat of my fingertip before I let go of the elastic, and I looked at it and thought, "man, that would hurt". Then while I was trying to unhook it... I let go of the elastic. 8D;;;

      SLICE! That tiny little s-hook went through me like a knife, holy crap. She's never really pinched or kicked me, so I think this is the only doll-related injury I have.

      SO FAR. Dun dun dunnnn.

    13. I actually just pinched my own finger with my BJD's headcap. It's got a magnet which is...pretty strong. And I wasn't paying attention.

    14. Chae-ri has never actually hurt me herself, but I've hurt myself making things for her. I've shed more blood from pricking my fingers with needles, cutting my own skin with scissors, etc....

      I even managed to scald myself while heat-setting one of her wigs. O.o

    15. Dont know if it counts. But once when I was fixing the eyes in a doll (glass eyes btw) somehow I sliced a really deep cut into my finger with the stem of the eyes, been very carefull ever since. Other then that mostly the pinches and kicks/headdives.
      Also something weird, everytime I restring dolls, the sides of my index fingers just drie up and are a mess of dried skin the next week. D: It is grosh...

    16. Stringing a tight body hurts your hands like nothing else. XD

    17. I haven't exactly been hurt by my doll herself as of yet but when I was restringing her for the first time I was using a red pipe cleaner to pull the elastic through her legs. I noticed some red on her that I assumed was some of the fluff from the pipe cleaner. Until I tried to brush it off and realised it was my blood. I had torn my finger without noticing on the pipe cleaner while trying to pull the elastic through and left blood spots all over her... Luckily they all came straight off! XD

    18. yes there was no permant damage caused. except paranoia, *shifty eyes*and i can't believe poeple are still reading that. XD

    19. I have,
      had my hair pulled,
      been head butted,
      pinched that sorta stuff.
      Have hurt my legs and sides from diving to them when they want to fall over.

    20. I cannot believe I missed this thread. Yes, I have been injured by a doll. I was getting into my doll cabinet for something (I can't recall what) and when I closed the door, it got caught on the skirt of my DiM Belita, Astrid. Hearing the hiss of taffeta on glass, I knew she was falling and put out my arms to catch her. I was mistaken on her trajectory. She came crashing into my temple, cutting me along the hairline with her nose (yes, there is a scar) before bouncing into my arms. I stood there stunned until the blood came pouring out of the scalp wound. After making certain I had gotten no blood on her dress, I carefully put Astrid back on the case and wandered into my boyfriend's room looking for assistance. My day ended with a light concussion, but no stitches. The sad part, she's one of my very favorite-favorites. Her way of telling me she wants more Dollheart, I guess.
