1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Have your dolls hurt you?

Jan 21, 2009

    1. Im surprised more Soom Heliot owners have not contributed to this thread. That boy is gorgeous, but he's dangerous!

      My Heliot likes to pitch forward at the hips, which sends the pointy 3-inch horn in his forehead into my head, or arm, or face. The first time he did it, it really scared me and hurt like heck! (Nothing like being stabbed by your dolly! :eek:)

      Pinches and kicks I can deal with, but that horn of his is like a bloody weapon! If my Mom were still alive, she would be telling me, "Sell that doll before he puts one of your eyes out!"

      Needless to say, Im very careful when I handle my Heliot.

    2. lots of pinches from the joints :P

    3. Only Chris - my SSDF Flood. His torso joint just loves to abuse my fingers...I think Luts was trying to make a weapon when they did that torso-joint...

      My other dolls usually behave nicely though :)

    4. Oh wow, I didn't have a clue that working with BJD could lead to injuries. I am sorry I had to laugh at some of the posts here, but I am thankful that this topic was mentioned. It will make me be aware and take heed to be careful when working with my own dolls. I am sure I will get pinched at some point but hope to avoid other injuries.

    5. I've had my thumb ripped open with an shook, many many gouges, scrapes, cuts out of my hands and just this past weekend, doll bites all up my thigh from a chest joint while attempting a partial restringing in a skirt. I then showed them off all weekend claiming my doll bit me. XD

      This last injury was the first in a while, once I got my own method of stringing, the injuries pretty much stopped. That partial restringing will get me every damn time though. I need to learn that it's easier just to start from scratch...

    6. I haven't been injured yet.... but reading this thread kind of scares me...

    7. I never knew playing with dolls could be so, er, hazardous! Thankfully, I now know! :)

    8. Today I was pinched from a hip joint repeatedly and it really made me mad! The doll is a Volks Kun I've been thinking of selling and haven't played with in a long time. I was dressing her. It was the first time I've been hurt by a doll and I immediately thought of this thread.

    9. I have been injured multiple times by my dolls, sadly. The first time something major happened was actually when I opened the box of my first doll, a CP Soony (Now an If). I have extremely sensitive blood vessels in my nose and frequently get nose bleeds. She just happened to be strung to tight, and kicked me in the nose causing a two hour long nosebleed. ^^;

      I have cracked my finger nail multiple times on my Soony's headcap.

      Recently, I got kicked in the face by my Galena while she was wearing her bird legs, another nose bleed. But, her leg went UP MY NOSE and so I bleed all over it.

    10. When I first brought Seung home I wasn't expecting his arm strings to have been doubly tight. I discovered quite some time after he had been here that he was tight because his string had been pulled up into his head as well as through both his arms. In the interim, I suffered scraches, and wild karate chop action with pointy girl DOC hands that were later dubbed the claws of doom.

      I've also had my share of pinches, kicks, and knocks to the head. Comes with the territory I guess :P

    11. Haha, my SD fell off my desk while I was trying to set up my new computer. He landed right on my spine, almost an inch above were I had a compressed disk. I literally almost dehydrated myself crying from the pain. XD I still love my boy, but Im extremely wary of him being in high places now.

    12. My KDF...
      She just loooves pinching at her torso joint, and she's drawn blood a couple times >__>
      And the skin of your wrist getting caught in a mobility joint is no fun at all~
      And once I took her foot off, just because she's my first doll and I was excited to try it... It wasn't impossible, but I had to fight harder than I've fought in a while... And nearly cut off my circulation trying to hold her string while I put the foot back on.
      And once I was playing with her posing... I grabbed her around the upper thighs while she was standing and she faceplanted right onto the top of my head! That hurt quite a bit.

    13. I didn't get hurt, but my husband did, when I asked him to help get the head back on my Bobobie Charisma after I really tightened up her stringing. I had left her glass eyes in, and he cut his finger and bled all over my doll. I felt bad, 'coz I wiped the doll off first!

    14. while restringing I've got bitten by joints DX And some odd accident when my boy who was sitting on top of my bed headder thing fell on my face with his heavy boots. And the moments where the S hook is just like a friggin pain to pull and it hurts your hands DX Oh restringing on your own = arm and abdominal muscle aches ;o;

    15. I've been pinched and head butted. My sister’s DIM Leisha sweet kicked me in the knuckle hard enough to bruise. I’ve also had two dolly induced asthma attacks. First was when my Elfdoll Soah’s evil knees gave way during a photo shoot. My tripod was in the way so I couldn’t save her. She hit the ground with a very loud BANG!! She was fine, I was not. Took me an hour to breath right again and was sick the rest of the day. Second time was with mine and my sister’s Dollcatch Errene, Dollndoll hybrid. Errene was in my sister’s room and I hadn’t ever played with her yet. She was in a stand seeming perfectly safe. I walk past and she flings herself backwards whacking her head right into the edge of my sister’s coffee table. Her head cap and wig went flying. Thinking this was my fault I had an asthma attack. Which my sister found hilarious. Turns out the Dollndoll hips are evil and spring at random. The doll was fine and I was fine after awhile. My sister later hot glued her and she doesn’t do that anymore.

      Edit: Recently got cut by a blown glass eye. It wasn't my doll, I was restringing it for someone else.

    16. My first time trying to restring (With no good string pullers really...) I ended up cutting myself twice on my hands so my poor little KDF at the time had bloodstains on his strings. Funny enough, he was the doll I kept for the longest period of time so far haha.

    17. Melody hasn't, but my friends Clockwork Alister XI has. We were taking his hands off, and the elasic still had his hands S hook on it slipped through my fingers and cut them open D: i didn't get blood on him though (thank god.) Just everywhere else lol Hurt so bad...

    18. Everytime I restring a doll, and even sometimes when I de-string them I get "bitten" by them xP
      Sometimes I also get my fingers stuck between joints while dressing them up or mooving them around and it hurts as hell D<
      Its not their fault though xD

    19. I recently got a Spirit Doll Acer, and i`m still not quite used to his size or weight. He is strung fairly tightly, and i`ve had bites bad enough to leave little blood blisters from both his chest and hip joint, and his knees. I find it kind of amusing, because his character is supposed to be... not bitey :sweat

      At the FanExpo meet last weekend he even gave one of the other girls there a good bite on the finger! I felt so bad D:

    20. oh god, im forever being pinched kicked and head butted......at a meet the other day my finger got pinched by friends SOOM dia boy's hoof, it almost bought a tiny tear to my eye lol
