1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Have your dolls hurt you?

Jan 21, 2009

    1. I took some skin off my hands sanding Alba, and apparently I have a mild resin allergy because I broke out all over my hands and arms when I was doing her. Mild contact dermatitis, nothing too serious but I was a bit itchy there for a few days after sanding. I was wearing respiratory protection and eye protection but I never thought to wear gloves while sanding only while soaking her in the chemicals and stuff. Apparently loose resin dust and I are not compatible. Either that I'm allergic to the sanding blocks. Other than that so far my dolls have been fairly kind to me. I did have some muscle soreness from all that sanding work, and my hands were very sore after restringing my dolls but not much else, and that's true of almost anything I do these days. I'm not anywhere near elderly but I've got problems with severe arthritis in my hands, autoimmune thing, and my hands can cramp like crazy when I am trying to to certain things. Restringing is not something I particularly like to do. That's for sure...

    2. I pinched my fingers while restringing my girl...it always happens no matter how many different ways I tried it, maybe I am just clumsy by nature :P

    3. I was restringing a doll at a meet and poled the stringing tool threw my finger. there was blood XD
my dolls have pinched me and one or to have headbutted me. but nothing major.

    4. I've had my finger pinched while restringing and such things like that. XP

    5. I always hurt myself while restringing but until now nothing major, just scratching myself with S hooks, getting pinched, and removing a little of skin because of the pressure of the elastic.

    6. I've always heard stories of dolls pinching people really badly during restringing but it never happened to me until very recently... And even right after I finished, I was standing him up to make sure he was stable and I adjusted his knee and it almost broke the skin on my thumb! What the heck, doll.

    7. I'm not sure if it's a good thing but I'm proud to bring this thread to life with my non-functioning thumb now. Yay. :pout:

I had my first accident last night, a pierced thumb by an S-hook while I was trying to take the foot off of my beloved Raccoon Doll Nina. It was my first time doing this, alright. But I expected something like this and was very careful and looking even professional until the last moment  I took off two hands and one foot nicely, but I had to pay the price of being a newbie, had I not??

Yes, she hurt me a lot. But I love her.

    8. Mhmm. The other day my Lorelei fell from her shelf, I was sitting underneath setting up for a shoot and she busted my lip. I have have cuts from her joints getting me and i had lacerations from restringing her.

    9. I got pinched in the arm by my girl, and the whole time I am thinking don't drop her and this hurts. I did not drop her thankfully.

    10. Definitely pinched by joints, and scratched trying to tightly re-string dolls ;u; re-stringing has been the most damaging to me lol. I hate doing it...

    11. My dolls really like to beat me up. Emrys and Dia, my two most floppy dolls that need to be restrung which I've been too lazy to do for a while headbutt me when I least expect it. I'll pose Emrys and if I'm holding him he'll fall back hitting me on the nose and if he's facing me he'll hit his forehead as hard as he can to mine. Dia isn't as abusive but he still likes to slap me with his tiny claws whenever I try to put a new outfit on him.

My Akagi doll has pinched me quite a few times after I've undressed him to put new clothes on him.

And Seth, my first doll which is a Soul Doll Juhl. I posed him standing up and when I turn just for a minute to reach for another doll or start working with another doll, he tips over and hits me in the back of my head.

    12. I've had minor bumps and scratches from them but usually nothing major.

The worst was when I had just restrung an old Iplehouse YID guy and was trying to pull the head s-hook and it slipped down into the neck hole, the end of the hook sunk into my finger and I was trapped and screaming! I couldn't pull it up enough to free myself with just one hand. My husband had to rescue me. Good thing I wasn't home alone like I usually am when I do doll stuff! I got my finger free, no blood but a lot of pain, and the s-hook at that point was lodged in the neck and took a lot more tugging and twisting to finally get it back up and get the head on.

    13. Lol i haven't been hurt by any of my dolls, but have had quite a good laugh reading some of these posts! Thank you!

    14. i think we can all bond over the evil s hooks

    15. So far got finger pinched by the joints while I tried to pose him. He almost slapped my nose once but missed because luckily I have a quick response to avoid :sweat

    16. I stabbed myself carving an eye opening once. Sanding my own finger. And of course glue gun burns... But that's nothing I'm not used to. I'm a cosplayer! Lol

    17. Yes, yes, yes! The usual pinching skin in joints, stabbing thumb with s-hooks and kicked by an errant limb flail but the other night my huge Nayuta Kenzo fell off the shelf and landed on my head. Fortunately he was unscathed by his antic, I suffered minor bruises.

    18. Oh, definitely. Just yesterday I was changing my newest guy's clothes and his torso joint pinched the skin between my thumb and and forefinger which hurt a lot.

    19. I was trying to take a doll's head off once and sliced my finger open on the S hook. She was strung way too tight...
