Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Have your dolls hurt you?

Jan 21, 2009

    1. I live with an (off-topic) MSD who slaps me. She's a little tightly strung. I'd loosen her up if she were mine, but I should not be the one to fix a flailing, kicky thing who belongs to my mother. At least a 16 inch doll can't hit very hard!

So far my new (on-topic) SD has been a perfect angel, but I'm sure her joints will pinch me sooner or later.

    2. Only financially XD

    3. I hadnt had any trouble with this at all, until one dark and stormy night... Okay, well, not stormy necessarily, but for whatever reason Ilya just felt like pinching me that night, like three or four times. My pointer finger hurt for days! (I really need to loosen his elastic.) I've also had Ilya fall and whack me on the head (in his defense, I sneezed and shook the desk). Thankfully his own head wasn't attached, and no real harm was done. :3nodding:

    4. Oh yes, the evil resin pinch is vicious!

    5. Well, the first doll I've gotten so far has kicked me in the glasses with both feet, and also has pinched me..so yes!

    6. Again, only the pinching from joints or restringing. It really does hurt, though!

    7. Shedding tears because of a doll, I restrung got a finger stuck in a thigh joint once. It was painful.

Shedding tears for a doll... well, when my job at the grocery store started making my wrists ache in an incredibly ominous way given I work in IT and my typing speed is literally my life, I looked at my layaway for my Doctor Strange doll, attempted to use compression wraps to lessen the hurting, they did not help, looked at the layaway again, and spent the next two months indulging in very dark jokes about how it would be hilarious if paying off the doll ruined my hands.

I got a new job and quit immediately after, but those were two incredibly painful months. But I finished paying off the layaway!

    8. The first time I was restringing one of my boys I ended hurting my hands. They were in so much pain from trying to restring him since I had to do it so many times because he was either too tight or loose. Then my back the next morning because of how I was sitting while doing so..ouch.

    9. I wound up being clawed by an s-hook the first time I changed hands. That was how I learned the chopstick method is not just a good idea, it’s darn near impossible do to it any other way.

    10. Ada's burnt me (boiling and sueding), and by extension scratched me and given me a sneezing fit (cutting up and then inhaling chalk pastels during faceup work). She's always been a brat!
In comparison, her friend the DD is an angel and only hurts my wallet :kitty2

    11. The hands are the worst part that suffer. And the wallet XoX.

    12. I've had my doll once clamp my finger's skin and it was really aching.

    13. Mostly just sore red marks on my fingers from trying to get her damn tiny hand hooks back onto the elastic while I was fitting a tight-sleeved dress on her.

(Though I used to work at an antique doll seller’s studio, and got pinched while stringing, burned by an iron, nicked with X-acto knives, pricked with sewing needles, bruised by heavy porcelain heads bumping my legs while I dressed big dolls...I’m not clumsy at all, but somehow I managed to injure myself almost every day at that job.)

    14. Oh yeah for sure. Especially trying to put back the head to the body using the pliers to bring the s hook, almost poked myself in the eye. Burned myself while trying to hot glue suede. Getting kicked by my dolls for being strung too tightly. Etc etc Yeah fun times.

    15. Once I try to string him, and the old headset cord I used for it, ripped and hit my left eye. After that I ordered stringing tools and never playing strings without my glasses...Yeah I am not really normal...

    16. Ughh... yes I have hurt myself while cleaning my doll (restring kinda thing) .. the elastic hit me very hard Lol

    17. I'd say the most painful incident was when the s-hook in a neck gave way. The tip of my index finger was in the top loop of the upper part of the s-hook and it got wedged very tightly against the top of the neck post. The more I tried to pull free, the tighter it got. I ended up having to ask someone to cut the strings inside the chest (which resulted in a purple finger tip as it only got tighter with all the maneuvering). Never again will I let that happen.

    18. Yes! I had a Doll Chateau Bella and I was taking off her extra wrist joints when the S-hook (which was very small and sharp) stabbed into my thumb and sucked back into the arm, so my finger skin was the only thing keeping enough tension for her to remain strung. It hurt so bad and really made me panic, I had to cut the elastic to escape D: So yeah she straight up drew blood haha

    19. THAT NOSE ATTACK IS NO JOKE

    20. I happen to be clumsy enough to get myself pinched & beaten up by my MSD while restringing. Not my brightest moment.
