Height differences and Pairing dolls

Hihi well i'm always looking for excuses to buy cute things!

 

Luciano (my Dollshe Saint on a Resinsoul 70cm body) and Gretel (60cm Obitsu Gretel) are somewhat of a couple - in the sense that she's quite infatuated with him and he humors her. I think their height difference is quite proportionate looking, particularly since she has a fairly big head which makes her look less small next to him. She's around 21, he's mid-late 20's.



Fox (65cm Dollzone Mo) and Chaste (Blossom-doll Hyacinth head on 72cm Doll Chateau adult male 03 body) are a definite couple. Fox is about 24, Chaste is 19. Their height difference is more obvious but I really love it, as there is a big height difference between myself and my partner and I find it very cute.

 

I've got several couples with significant height differences. My very first pair actually are an AoD MSD (45.5cm) and an LE Doll/AoD collab SD (57cm). The height difference in the dolls is a bit more than in the characters but the sculpts are absolutely perfect for them.

Further to that particular world, one of the other couples also has a good bit of a size difference. Tyh is 42cm while Dak is 46cm but in character, there's 7" difference between them so it works great for them as dolls.

I also have a triad couple where one of the characters was a fairy before he was changed into the minion of a god. The two large dolls are 69.5cm while the small doll is just 30cm.

 

I think having quite a large (but not too large) height difference in a romantic BJD relationship is really cute!

 

We have quite a few characters with height difference around here; some of the most significant going as far as 20cm in doll size xD I think that's quite okay though!

 

As far as very significant size difference goes, the pairing between Fei-Lau, Khale and Sleet is huge at 39.5cm for the dolls. In people terms, Fei-Lau and Khale are 6' tall while Sleet scrapes 2'-10" on a good day (and he lies about his height *rolls eyes*). While at first glance it appears completely unrealistic to have such a massive difference in height but, there are real life couples of an average height person and a Little Person. Granted, Sleet isn't a Little Person (he's a sociopathic former Fairy turned minion to a god) but in my opinion, this pairing works as Sleet is a very mature, adult tiny and not child-like at all.

 

Lots of cute couples My 5SD Tumnus - Genesis"Gen" is patiently waiting for who I hope will become his girlfriend, 5SD Becca. She's on a 2 payment layaway and I'm just waiting for DDE to tell me she's ready and then I can make my final payment. She is one cm shorter than Gen. They will be my first bjd couple.

I also have a DD Misora on the way. I want her to have a partner too, but haven't chosen a boy to pair up with her yet. I'm thinking I'd like a boy who is a few cm taller than she.

 

This was actually a very visually informative post, thank you to all who posted pictures. I was thinking of pairing Male iplehouse SID and and EID together wondering if that would be too much of a size difference but even the more drastic size differences look fine to me, so I'm a little more assured that it'll look fine.

I was a bit worried about pairing a 58cm with a 65cm, but now I'm absolutely sold on the idea! I just have to double check that their sculpts look good together-- To the Photoshop!

 

For me it's a little weird. I have two MSDs, a boy and a girl, who are adults and siblings. I received another MSD in a giveaway, but she's modeled as a seven year old girl.

So her sculpt kind of threw everything off for me, especially since I plan to get Dante his girlfriend soon and she'll likely be a little shorter than my child MSD.

I don't like SDs, though, not portable enough. So I guess I'll figure something out. :P

 

When doing height comparison, nothing beats Comparison Heaven! Even if they do not have the exact dolls you are looking for, you can pick dolls by height and see them side by side.

I love having height differences between my dolls. The tallest I have in house is 63cm and he looks great with my 58cm girls. I'll be getting a Luts JDF body for one of my boys in the future and hoping it's short enough at 55cm (the character is 5'0").
