1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Holding other peoples dolls

Jul 15, 2011

    1. One thing I'm really afraid of is damaging other people's dolls, because I'd probably have a heart attack if I accidentally messed up someone's doll that they loved and spent a lot of money and time on *_* so I've always been crazy careful when handling other people's dolls

However I don't think it has to be a scary experience! As long as I establish permission to touch and hold and the owner knows that I'm handling their doll at the moment, and I'm being careful, then it's perfectly ok...

as for size difference, when I was active in the hobby before and lived in a place with many more owners and attended meetups, I got the privilege of handling a lot of different dolls, but to be honest handling dolls that were super limited or special or had extensive modding that made them more delicate was way more scary than handling huge 70cm dolls

And I don't mind if other people handle my dolls, I just expect to be treated the way I treat others; being moderately careful, asking permission, etc.

    2. O.m.g. yes. XD I remember my first meet when I didn't own a doll yet and was preparing for my first. I was at a table where I saw an Iplehouse Claude knight decked out in his full splendor. And while I am totally in love with Claude, I do not yet have a reason to own one--and he was super out of my range at the time. Anyway, the owner was like "here! hold him! fondle him! caress him!" (seriously, like a direct quote, it was awesome). And i was so nervous! I sat in the chair at the table the entire time and barely moved, but it was heaven. XD I was just so excited to see him up close and be /touching/ a Claude. XD I don't even think I played with the joints because I was so nervous! I think I get nervous just because it's someone else's property and I know the value of it.

I've gotten a lot better tho when it comes it friend's dolls. My one friend Zia has a few boys that I am very familiar with and I am not shy at all about scooping up and cuddling. XD Tip also has a few dolls like that--but largely that comes from knowing the doll/character as well as the owner.
