1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Horses for larger dolls

Sep 12, 2006

    1. Is there a site or any info on how to make a mane and tail for horses. I got a my generation horse at the good will and the mane and tail have to be replaced but I have no clue how to do it. But hey the horse was 2.00 and I wanted two horse for my dolls.

    2. @ Ecchokat: Have a look into model horses and how to customize them. The plastic manes and tails are often exchanged for ones made of real hair. Usually this is done with mohair, as it is long enough for the little ones (size 1:9).

You have to make a tail core out of wire, and then wrap it with a thin layer of carrier material to hold the hair. Then you have to look out for something "in scale" hair. Horse tail har is quite long. Perhaps you can get wig wefts and use this?

Perhaps experimenting a bit in advance would be a good idea, to see how it looks like before attaching it to the horse' butt.

    3. Thank you I will look into it but I cant use mohair I am allergic to it so I will have to consider somthing else. thank you

    4. Awesome, thanks for the link Isesstudio! I will be putting some of that to use here, I think...

...Because my prancer showed up today! Wheeee! :D YOU GUYS. He is absolutely perfect for SDs. I can't wait to whip out the paint and get some new hair for him, etc, and my boys look SO good on him.

      I'll update again when he's painted :D

    5. Moontouched I am searching the same my twinnยดs horse model but it is sold out in Twinnยดs page
Where I can buy this horse? He is absolutely gorgeous for SD size ^^

    6. Thanks! He is indeed sold out...I don't think they have the means to even produce him anymore, unfortunately. :( I've been searching for him for years now, and finally caught hold of this one by word of mouth online. My suggestion would be to keep checking eBay, and try putting wanted ads up on Craigslist and the like. Good luck!!

    7. Ooh Congrats Moontouched! Tough to find one of those. They don't produce them any more, I'm fairly sure, so getting one has to be on the secondhand market, like eb@y or Amazon.

To recap this thread for new people: ( Hi guys!)

The My Twinn Prancer, no longer produced, is a decent scale to be a horse for 60 cm dolls.

The only other horse I know of that's correctly scaled is Nahar, the sculpted horse made just for BJDs.

      Leeds plush toy
company in the UK makes a few horses who are ALMOST tall enough to be horses for SDs. I've made one work, and I owe you guys pictures....

Battat horses are large enough to be pack ponies or miniature horses but not full size horses.

Domuya Nightmare is a jointed horse the right size for 60cm dolls but rare as hen's teeth, since Domuya went under.

    8. I know they're not fabulously realistic, but I've been wondering about the Friends' Boutique horses from Walmart. They're jointed, and they seem like they might be tall enough, but then I don't have an SD to compare it to. Has anyone else tried one of these?

    9. Thanks a lot for the replies
This twinn horse is perfect, because the others My Twinn horse that sell in the page are very static,I will be searching it
Nahar is a good option ,but I think that it is very difficult to customize, because I prefer that he has natural hair

    10. I know that the other my Twinn horses are a bit static but does anyoen know if they are still usable with SD's. I think I could make one work and they finally ship internationally :D

    11. I know a couple people here have the MT quarter horse here, if you go back to the first few pages of this thread there are some pictures. He is the same height as the prancer, just in a standing pose. I think he'd make a lovely draft horse for someone :D

    12. I have read that My Twinn accepts international orders , long time ago they dont accept it , is great that they changed her policy
It is possible that the next month I order "Quarter horse" ^^

    13. Hopefully this won't get deleted but there is a My Twinn horse up on eBay right now, the prancer model.

And I know this thread is for larger dolls, but does anyone think it'd be possible to flock and then paint one of the battat horses to make it look a bit more realistic?

    14. Thanks for the info Sharingan! I hope someone here who wants one gets it!! Good thing I just spent all my "disposable" income on adopting another doll from the MP XD

Guys! That horse is a really good price, and it wouldn't take much to fix him up! Although I wonder how they can afford to ship him so low, I had to pay almost as much as I paid for the horse itself. Maybe it was the distance, he came all the way across the country to me. <3

As to the flocking question, I'm sure you could flock one of the Battats~ It would just take a lot of flocking lol. Although I know a little bit goes a long way, I'd say get a good amount of flocking in whatever color you want, then try a spray adhesive to attach it. You'd have to work in small sections, but I bet it would work. The spray adhesive would make everything smoother looking when it was finished.

      Hope that helps~! :)

    15. how about a Nahar pic with my SD13 Isao?

      Navarre and Groan.

    16. Oh my, Pam, thanks for the eye candy! :D They are beautiful~

    17. gah...dang it of course the one time I'm not browsing ebay...*shakes head* I really wanted to get one of those...sigh...and the search continues. I almost received one from someone a few weeks ago but the shipping was just way too much it was more than she was selling the horse for.

    18. This is a white Our Generation/Battat horse next to my Leeds plush horse. Kevya, the doll, is 60cm.

You can see that the Battat horses (20") are barely pony sized compared to most SDs. The Leeds horse (25") is just barely tall enough to be a little bitty horse, of perhaps a primitive stocky pony-like breed.
Battat horses will be fine as big battle chargers for MSDs, but not SDs.

As you can see, Kevya almost dwarfs even the Leeds horse. He does make it look like a small Mongolian breed, or a pony. With its big head and feathered legs, it does look very pony-like.

I've done a lot of mods to the Leeds horse, trimming his feathering, removing his Original mane and replacing it with black horsehair, same with the tail, and giving it eyelids. I made the tack myself. Yes, the bridle is just like a halter with reins; Kevya's people never really bothered with bits and the horse is directed by the legs- the reins are almost a formality. The saddle is more or less a pad to protect the horse's spine and rider's butt. It does have a girth but in the picture the shadow hides it.

Perhaps someday I'll be able to get him a Nahar.

this horse: http://www.chasing-fireflies.com/la...PPINGCOM&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=products Would probably be tall enough.

    19. Leeds horse??? I've googled them before but I never seem to find info do you have a link or know who may sell them??

ah it seems this is a company perhaps in the UK?? I'm only finding listings and info in Ebay UK
