It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How 'alive' do you treat your doll?

Aug 1, 2007

    1. Verrry alive, haha. They were my characters long before they were my dolls and so they've always been very much alive to me. Having them in a tangible resin form only makes it easier. :aheartbea

    2. ///////////////////////////////////////////

    3. I don't treat them like they're alive at all. When I'm not photographing them or taking them out they sit on a shelf or in their carriers. If I'm talking to anyone in the house, it's my daughter. They're dolls, and I treat them like they're dolls.

I have a problem considering anything that I can reach into the head of and scoop the eyes out of "alive". ;)

    4. I don't talk to my dolls at all. I don't attribute emotions or moods to them. I do get frustrated if they're not "cooperating" with what I want them to do though.

    5. i dont even HAVE my doll and i talk to him, or refer to him as my baby. I talk about his likes and dislikes, his personal style, and his personality.

    6. I have two dolls and I treat them like they are alive. If they aren't comfortable I move them. I can't go to sleep until they are content.
I tend to have conversations or talk about them like they are my best friends or older siblings. lol. I feel odd sometime but it would be odder to me if I didn't.

    7. This has a point, I swear;

Next summer is my 21st birthday and I'm going to Vegas.
I'm not a gambler or -too- much of a drinker. I'm going for one reason (fine, two reasons. One reason is Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian...): to see Criss Angel. Why? Because that man just might be real. As in, real magic. I know, it sounds bizarre, but some of the stuff he does on TV really messes with me. That one episode where he split that girl in half and her legs ran away???? What WAS that???? So, if Criss Angel does something crazy right in front of my eyes, I will believe he's magic.

The moral of the story; There are colors the human eye can't see. There are sounds we can't hear. If people want to think their doll is alive, I'm not one to criticize.

I personally don't think my boys have souls, but if people do, I wouldn't raise an eyebrow over it.

    8. Yes, I talk to my dollies sometimes... I cant help it. It's a reflex I suppose, and they just have personalities and such. You can't not treat them like people sometimes :)

    9. Talking to our dolls is like talking to ourselves -- we are not misunderstood.

    10. I like to cover every aspect of my original characters, so I'd say they "talk" to eachother more than I talk to them. I'm not a part of my story so I rarely make an appearance in my doll's "lives". Them talking to me would be like talking to god, I govern it all mysteriously.

    11. I talk to them when I work on them, but not in an 'I expect an answer' - kind of way.
I still see them as something I fill with a lot of love, attention and some kind of 'spirit' maybe; same way I felt when I first started getting dolls. But they are in no way 'alive' to me. My characters are alive in my head, not the dolls that represent them.

    12. I talk to her a lot in my head too X) and I'll say stuff to her, but not actually have a convo with her O.O
which I've seen some people do....
and I talk to myself a lot XD so having a doll makes is more....easy to do?

and my mom said if I ever do start talking to her she'll take her away XD (all in joking manner, cuz now she herself has started talking to them lol)

    13. There are some "human-like" ways I'll treat my dolls, but most of them have to do with the well being of the doll. For instance, I won't leave a doll in a hot car for heat-damage reasons, like yellowing, instead of like a person who would, of course, suffocate.

If I have time or if I am in the mood, I'll change them into pajamas. Most days their outfits are not changed. I frequently bring them to friends houses or out some places but this is just for fun. They'll be fine if they're left at home.

I just like pretending that they're real, but I can still keep the line between the imagination and reality in focus.

    14. I talk to my dolls, it just happens. They don't have to answer or anything, its just relaxing to speak out loud whatever I may be thinking at the time and have them listen or just be there

    15. Technically speaking... not very. I do take them apart and sand them and switch their eyes around and swap their hair and scrub them with sponges and...

...it would be all very horror flick if they were alive. ;)

    16. I think I kind of understand what you mean: I don't talk to my doll but I think at him on occasion. Even then it's not very personal and is just "would this shirt suit you?" or "curse you, STAND!" and other doll-oriented stuff.

But at the end of the day, he's not alive so I don't treat him as if he is.

    17. quite alive I guess..
I dont talk to them, but I always think they could see what I do and hear things, so I hardly sing aloud anymore in my room :/ I dont like singing in front of others.

    18. ... I don't... they are dolls...

I treat them about as well as I'd treat anything else I spend over $400 on. Very carefully, like inanimate objects I don't want to ruin. You know, because, they... aren't alive.

    19. I actually treat my boy Roy very much like a real person sometimes just so I can develop his character. Right now, he's just too much associated with my own thoughts and feelings. I want his character to be more independent. He doesn't have to be my complete opposite but at least explore new territory. Right now he's just being a total silly pants in photostories. Where did my serious guy go? @__@

Nothing wrong with treating your doll like a person you love and care for. It belongs to you and you paid for it. If you want to go sky diving with your doll, go ahead. Just remember to both wear your helmets and double check your equipment.

    20. I usually talk with my dolls when and only when I'm alone. Since I treat them as my brothers and sisters, my parents felt I must be crazy, and of course I don't like to discuss this issue with them. the only thing that I can do is to play with them myself.

So, I never believe treating them as human beings are odd at all, just enjoy urself with them, happiness is first. XDDDD
