Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. I want a soom mecha angel! I think they're divine. I should get used to the weight of a SD first, but I love the thought of a huge doll to cuddle and oogle and generally squee over. If someone made a meter high doll, I'd want one of those, too! As long as they were pretty :love

    2. I guess that, to me, 80cm dolls are a bit too big to handle, so there goes my limit.

    3. I have a 67cm Uni hybrid, but for me even 70cm is too tall. When worked into scaled proportions, that would be a (just under) 7 foot tall person! Now take that to the 80cm dolls and my ears starts to bleed. Nearly 8 feet in height on that one.

67cm equates to about 6' 6". Peter Crouch height. That's as tall as I go.

    4. I'm looking at 60 cm. I would like the 70-80 but I heard there have been problems with restringing and modeling and I would like to create hundreds of photos for him to model.

    5. My tallest doll is 58cm, and I don't want anything bigger. I think 60cm would be my absolute max.

    6. I heard of a 90 cm doll once but I can't remember what company. That's a little too big for me, but I deffinately like larger dolls.
They stand out more, they're prettier (in my opinion that is), and their clothes can be more detailed. I really like my 60cm boy, even though he's really heavy! >.<

    7. After some thinking, 80cm is the limit.

    8. 100 cm would be my limit, then i would get over it and buy it anyway x3
but yeah, im tall so what you think is big isnt really big to me

    9. I've been DYING to bring home one of AOD's 90cm dolls!

But I'm a tall girl anyways. At 6'1, my girlfriend's Sabik only just comes up to my thigh. I'm all leg.

    10. For me, i think too big would have to be 70 cm because companies don't make a lot of clothes for anything bigger than 60... unless i'm just oblivious because i only have msd's. That's also a problem, i've gotten so used to 43 cm and under that 70 just seems... showy. Just my opinion though. Don't get me wrong 70 cm dolls are great and I love them. I just wouldn't own them.

    11. I have to agree. D: When I was buying my first doll I saw an SD17 at the store and I was so overwhelmed by how tall he was! D:

I think I could get used to a 70cm, though. Anything above that...is more than half my height, so I'd like to stay away from that. *laugh*

    12. I've been resisting bigger-than-my-60cm-dolls, mostly because I'm trying to resist buying more dolls! But I also find that my large dolls are plenty big already and I can't see handling anything bigger.

I've seen the bigger dolls at meets and they just seem so... BIG. (Mostly super-long legs, but still... BIG.)

I like how they look well enough, but as I said, I'm trying to not bankrupt myself by buying everything I like, so something has to be a "no."

That said... I DID break down recently and buy a 65cm Soom Sard... and I hear he's actually taller with the hooves on!

I've loved everyone's Iplehouse Akandos, but I'm thinking, size and weight... just way too big to contemplate--or so I keep telling myself! (Thank goodness; my bank-account is sighing in relief.)

    13. 70cm dolls are fine for me, I've gotten used to lugging my DoI around and while I'm not certain of other dolls' weights, I can at least handle DoI dolls with bare minimum of effort and strain upon my arms.

I've never handled a 80cm doll before, but that'll change when my Mecha Angel arrives. I highly doubt I'll sell my MA because I've wanted a Sabik for quite a while now... however, I'm not sure how well I'll be able to handle him since he's 10cms taller than my DoI and most certainly heavier by quite a bit too >__>

So for now, I think I'll draw the line at any doll taller than 80cm. So that means no 90cm dolls for me. 70cm is already almost half my height and 80cm is more than half my height... so yeah... a 90cm doll standing beside me would be too much :sweat

    14. I'm on the short side, so I'm going to say anything much over 70cm would be too big for me. I've never seen any dolls other than my own minis in person, though, so 70 might be too big for me, who knows! I hope not, though, because once I get all my mini characters here (which will likely take years, but there's no harm in dreaming!) I would love to get a DZ Yuu.

    15. *Cries at the fact that some of you have sold your Hounds....*
Where was I.....(throw self on floor and cries more...)

I used to think 65cm was the limit until Mieagi (I think I spelled her name wrong) let me hold her Dollshe Bernard at the last Elfdoll meet. I was surprised at how light he was and that he seemed lighter than my shortstop of an Elfdoll Wu that is on the smaller 58cm body. That was deciding factor in me wanting a Hound after all. Dollshe boys are mostly leg. I think for me, being a shortstop myself that anything over 70cm is too big; like others have mentioned, I don't want a doll that's half my height. I would love an MSD one day because they're easier to carry out in public; the size is perfect for away photo shoots! Anything tinier doesn't appeal to me mostly because I don't prefer children or anthro dolls. I do get tempted by Elfdoll piggies once in awhile though..:)

    16. After handling a friend's Sabik awhile ago, I'd say that would be my limit. But he would probably be a "stay at home" doll, unless I'm going to a meetup. 60 cm is pretty big and I have a 65 on the way. But that's not too much bigger. I can only imagine how huge a 90 cm doll would be. >_<!!

    17. I'd have to see a soom MA and the AOD big boys to really say what my limit is, but at the moment I guess it would be 70cm.
Kellion actually doesn't weigh that much more than my delf boys, and he fits nicely into the crook of my arm so it's all good; the only issue is that he completely dwarfs my msd XD; It's not that bad when they're sitting, but dang, when he stands up...[IMG]

    18. Man, nearly a meter doll...that's up to my hips. (I'm am more than a foot under you.)

    19. I just bought an Akendo. He's 70 cm and heavy and a hand full! He's as big as I'd want to go.

    20. My tallest is 70cm, and I don't think I could get any one bigger than that. ^^;
