How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. I was thinking 40cm is too big before I saw them irl xDDD

    2. If they did a doll like the Akando or Mecha Angel in 90 cm or bigger, I would ant it badly! The bigger the more I want them is my opinion :) (so I can't really understand I have two msd dolls a my first one *_* )

    3. Any size is alright. As long as you can adequately clothe them, they are fine. If you have a doll custom made too small or too large, you will find you will be spending inordinate amounts of money for a simple pair of shoes. And they will, most likely, not be well made. The same warning applies for eyes and wigs. I wish you all the best!

    4. I was convinced that SD was the largest I could go. A friend's 70cm DZ is just way too much for me. But then I got a Soom Euclase and he's 65cm without his talons on. ^^; So I guess I can't say "never" anymore, but I suspect I still won't go any bigger than him. Even he's pushing it sometimes.

Contrarily, I don't care for tinies at all, and MSDs are kind of borderline. I'm quite happy with my SDs, I guess. :)

    5. I just adore the bigger ones!! I love the heavy feeling of them, even if I only have two SDs (one of which had a body) I just love them. My current list of wants is Dollzone Yuu, Iplehouse Akando, Unidoll Jace, Soom Sabik or Dia Boy, and Dream Realm Xiao Chi. All big boys. I just can't wait to feel how big and heavy they are!! I think it may be a realistic thing for me though and that's why i like them.

    6. My sister has an MSD and I have an SD, and although I love mine to bits, sometimes I wish he was MSD size instead! just because its easier for me to carry and cloth. But I love the sculpt, so its okay. I won't be getting any more SD dolls, though.

    7. I find the Mecha Angels to be really tempting, but at this point they are too big for me. :(

    8. I want an army of Mecha Angels! No, seriously, I love big dolls. I don't actually mind their weight (I carry around a 5-year-old on an almost daily basis, my arms can easily handle an 80cm resin boy!) The only problem I foresee with owning one is that I'm short -- barely 5'2", so it would probably be a bit difficult to carry. But the awe-inspiring size and the amazing sculpt will more than make up for it.

I find the tiny ones cute (Pukis are adorable little things!) But I just wouldn't own one. Ever. I think even an MSD would be a bit too small. The main reason why I moved on from Pullips to BJDs is the size -- I discovered I would rather have one big MA boy than 5 or 6 Pullips (it's roughly the same amount of money.) For some weird reason, I seem to feel more childish carrying around a little doll. Don't know why, I just do.

    9. I love bigger dolls I think the limit for me is anything over 80cm.
It would be much too hard to manage.:sweat

    10. I think i feel the same, i feel like a little kid carrying Emi around but with Dayton I feel kind of cool. xD.

I really want a Puki but I'm just afraid I would lose him/her because they are so small o_O I mean I do take excellent care of my dolls it's just the fear would always be there that, that little bugger would some how slip away and be gone forever. It's just so much easier to watch after the big boys.

    11. right now i feel like anything less than a small SD (around 53cm) would be too small.
i lovelovelove Soom's Mecha Angel Saiph, but she just seems like her size would be too much.
plus trying to find her on the secondary market would be ridiculously hard >>
not to mention how much she would go for >___O

    12. Although I love my Hound I can update and say, yup, anything bigger would be to big for me.

    13. I'm incredibly fascinated by the size of the taller dolls. Something about it just appeals to me-- we're not in Barbie-land here any more, kids! I'm fairly set on my first being one of the D.O.I 70cm's, but beyond that I start to get a little freaked out. When I see pictures of the 90cm 1/2 scales, I just stare in some sick mix of horror and want. If there were more choices for the molds on those guys, I might be in some trouble (augh, the cost!). But for now I think I can safely say that 70cm is sort of my limit.

    14. 70 cm is my max ...

    15. Theres no such thing as "too big" for me. I have some msds, but I actually love my sds more, and my Sabik is my favorite (80cm MA). I'd buy one of the 1/2 dolls if there was one I liked. I'm sure there will be one in the future that "I just have to have." I'm actually working on a manequinn project just because I thought it would be fun to have a big dolly in the house. He's no more articulated than a normal manequinn, but he's still just a big doll to me (a 6'2" doll to be exact).:)

    16. You know, it kind of went in stages, first I had an msd, and I thought that sd's were too big, then I had an sd and thought a bigger size would be fun, then I got my Sabik and now there's an Akando on the way. I think these bigger dolls are just desensitising me to the new bigger sizes

    17. How big is too big? Probably for me, 80 cm would be too big. The weight wouldn't even be so much of the problem as where to keep it. I had a huge doll once. (it wasn't a dollfie) she was antique. It sat on my mom's couch for months while I was in the process of moving (and didn't some little kid come over to "visit" and try to snap the fingers off!) I was so upset and everyone was like "it's just a doll" he was just playing with it. I probably need something I can keep up high!

    18. I'm quite happy with my MSD's right now I think :) This summer I plan on getting my first SD's but I think that's as big as I'll ever go. I get a little nervous when the dolls are almost half my height! Though some of the larger dolls are beautiful.

    19. i don't have a limit actually. for me, the bigger the better ^^

i like big dolls because i think it looks less fragile than the little ones

    20. 90cm, definetely.

70s are common, and SOOM's 80cm mecha angels are gorgeous.
      but 90cm?
      a giant. @_@
