How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. I don't think that there is a too big!
      I was going to get a 70cm as my first doll, but money stopped me. =(
      I once had a mannequin taller than I am in my room. There is no such thing as too big!

    2. 60-70 cm. is my most favourite, I like large doll but not too heavy.

    3. I love big dolls! I don't plan on owning smaller than MSD size maybe 2 puki puki's but that's it

    4. I think anything larger than 1:3 scale is too big. So no bigger than 60cm. I can't believe it when I see 70~75cm dolls. That's essentially 1:2.5 scale. They're huge and it must be really hard to match them with other dolls since they're not in the right scale (unless you buy other dolls from the same maker/line).

    5. I currently have 2 63cm boys and and msd. Paying off for a 74cm now...I have a feeling he might be too big to fit in any of BJD cubby hole o.o; It's quite possible that I am getting a just too big boy XD

    6. Personally, I prefer MSDs...I think they're just the right size xD

      That aside I've got a 72cm boy that is such a hunk. I don't discriminate. (;

    7. I'm all for the big guys! For me the limit is how SMALL I can go...which is 60cm. Anything smaller than that just feels like a Barbie doll for me. Depending on the doll, a 58-59cm female would be acceptable. As for how big I will go, for now I would say 80cm, even though there is not currently a sculpt in that range I like enough to bring home. The BJD's I am designing and sculpting myself are that size, though. I don't think I would ever go bigger than that, but I won't say never, because you never know what these companies will come out with.

    8. No smaller than a yo and no bigger than sd13 size for me~

    9. I like SD 58-62cm best. Anything over 63cm is just too much for me to handle. Too big, too awkward, too heavy. You wouldn't think there's much difference in a 62cm and a 66cm for example, but there is. This is why my Crobi head is going on a smaller body. :P

      But on the other hand, I don't like really small dolls either. I have a tiny and a Yo-SD sized doll, but they are really smaller than I like. MSD is good, they fit in my purse really well without getting lost and are still easy to sew for and pose.

      I guess to sum it up, I'm picky and don't really like anything outside the 44-62cm range...

    10. 80cm could be my limit, and 70cm is pushing it, even though I've got one or two on my wishlist... I like the larger dolls, 60-65cm range, and I like 40cm to be children, and I like tinies as their own seperate thing, but 80cm...... just too much. Just too much.

    11. AOD has 90 cm dolls. I saw one in person once. Defffiinniitely wayyyy too big for me XD

    12. I prefer MSD size, though I wouldn't mind one or two SDs.

      I saw a AOD 90cm once at a con (he was at a dealers booth, sitting in a normal human's chair >_< ) I actually had to pick him up at one point to let the dealer get to some bins, omg he was heavy! He wore kids shoes and clothes! D:

      I will say though, I might consider it if they made a girl... maybe.

    13. hmmm height is not really a problem for me. my problem is the overall shape and head size :/ a slim 70cm that wears 8-9 wigs would be fine. but a huge chunk of resin that is very stiff OR is really floppy is kind of annoying :sweat and if the doll's really heavy on top of that X_x
      My migma is very tall but not that heavy and still relatively easy to pose and carry arround. she's very slim and docile x3

      and to think I use to want a 1/2 doll!! xD;;

    14. My height limit is 40-50cm. Even those sizes were a huge decision for me! I might go for a 60cm doll to go with a floating head I have, but I'll put that off as long as I can. Now I'm thinking of around Yo sd size, but not super tiny.

    15. I have a really skewed idea of what is 'big' because my first doll was a 70cm. It's so skewed that i tend to mentally put my Delf into the same category as my MSD's...even though he's 60cm tall. I'd quite happily go to 80 or 90cm even though i'd look ridiculous carrying such a big doll around (i'm pretty short!). I love the smaller dolls for their portability but the big ones are just so cuddly!

    16. I got my first 60cm doll two weeks ago, and I'm still trying to get used to him. :sweat
      I feel like my MSD is easier to carry around.

    17. I'm getting an MSD but I've seen some 70cm dolls that are just stunning! The only thing holding me back from getting one is money. :(

    18. I wouldn't want anything bigger than 70~ish cm. It would not look right with my dolls and it would be too heavy. I'm already worried about the EIDs I want, if they'll be too heavy. I find normal 60cm boys heavy enough as it is. Haha. :lol:

    19. My biggest doll is 70cm and that's ok, but no bigger ones for me. ^^;

    20. 50cm+ is too big to me. I just couldn't handle it. Plus, I think bigger ones have weird sculpts. I'll stick with my MSDs.
