How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. the largest for me was 120cm, but no doll is too big unless they are taller than me (which has to be insane XD)

    2. A 90cm doll. Buff owned one once and since sold him on, but I think he was as tall as her daughter! And he had on a toddler t-shirt which fit him nicely. But he came up to my hip and I'm only five foot four! The tallest dolls I own are 65cm.

    3. I have dolls that are over 70cm (sooms with fantasy feets can be that tall), and IH men that are 70... I'm pretty tall and they are a handful. I don't mind so much, but 60-65cm are easier to haul around, for sure.

I think it's cool that such extreme sizes are available for people who want them--but they are not for me... although I've learned to never say never... *_*

    4. oops.. double-post... sorry!

    5. The largest doll I've ever seen would probably be a Dollmore Lusion. They're 80cm and are a little thicker than most BJD's. Like, you could mistake them for a small child if you weren't paying attention. They kind of creep me out a little. :o

    6. biggest bjd I have seen are my 3 70cm boys and the smallest I have seen in person in the dollzone baby at 8.5cm (not sure it is on topic or not) When it comes to bigger I would so go bigger if I could find a sculpt I like.

    7. A puki puki was the smallest on topic for DoA BJD I have seen. It was kind of cute, but I personally found it too small. I had a DZ baby for a little while, but I think those are OT.

The tallest I have seen is my 72cm Dollzone, but the largest were my friend's Super Senior Delf hybrid and my Spiritdoll proud boy.
I like the larger dolls. 90cm might be a bit much, but I would like a Mecha Angel one day.

    8. Definitely the child-sized ones! The ones that are around 3 feet or so, those are just way too big, and personally for me a 70 cm might be too big, but who knows later on in the future. tinies aren't that big of an issue I think. They might be easy to loose/hard to shop for, etc. but they're just cute usually lol

    9. It gets too big when I can't handle it properly. I'm a short girl (5'1", my genetics played havoc with my height) so a 90cm doll would be iffy, but I can handle Amser just fine. I'm planning on getting a Lusion in future but that'll probably be my limit--seeing pictures of her compared to people really stuns me as to how huge she really is :o I can barely imagine a 90cm!

    10. I dunno I kinda like him :3. I am thinking maybe I can add him to my wish list.. he will need his own chair almost lol! I have an entire shelf that is pretty much going to be dedicated to BJDs.. I have never seen a tiny doll IRL before but I have seen incredibly small baby type bjds on the web. The smallest I have is a 24cm doll (Elsa). The largest doll I have is a 70 something cm doll (Zackia).

Zackia is pretty big.. and he is heavy too. I can cary him around but it gets tiresome after a while.

    11. I think anything over a metre tall is a big extreme when it comes to size for BJD. My biggest is 55cm, and that already seems pretty big. :P The biggest I've seen in real life was a 70cm.

    12. Wow! I never saw something like this!

      but,i like!!

    13. I couldn't image handling a 90cm bjd. Especially anything larger than that. @.@ I have a DZ Yuu and he's almost too big. He fits snugly on my hip though, but anything bigger I wouldn't be able to handle. I am glad for the variety of the new bjds coming out. It means that someone might just find another perfect doll for them.

    14. I don't think I could get anything bigger than a 70cm at the most. I've got a friend who wants a Lusion Doll and just the idea of a doll that's the size of a child frightens me. I'd like something I can carry around without injuring myself, so I think 70 really is my limit.

    15. have all gradually was 25 cm and then 45, 52, 62 .... now I looked at the Mecha Angels:lol:

    16. I received a E.I.D 70m before Christmas. And I diffidently like the bigger size.
While I wouldn't change my current crew. It makes me curious on how big big can get.

Life sized dolls would find their way into my collection if They are manufactured and when I can afford them.
( Would like to get a 5 year old boy and a grown adult male both of them with anime-like features.)

    17. My tallest is only only 53cm. That's hard to handle with these clumsy hands.
I'm not sure I'd want much larger than a 60cm for a special guy.;)
      Shell

    18. My GF has 65 and 70CM dolls. I have a 65 on the way, and I think that's my limit. I like the 70s but I don't know if I'd want to own one now. Even my 60cm doll gets pretty heavy when handling her for a while.

There actually is a company in Japan called Papermoon that makes life-sized anime dolls. (Although they're around 4'8" or 5' even, so at the smaller end of average size) As far as I know, they've only done female characters, though, and they're not all that nice for the size and cost.

    19. The largest BJD doll I have seen in person is a MSD-sized doll. I would love to see the bigger dolls in person as I am thinking they would be fascinating! I imagine the bigger dolls would also be fun to dress and photograph.

    20. Yes, I am aware of them, they made two men, both on the smaller sized male. The kind I'd like would be a 6'6 tall male with a built body. Preferably made of resin and proper ball joints. :)
