How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. I don't think any BJD could be too big for me personally.. unless it was up to my waist or something ^^; Then I think I'd get paranoid.

    2. I love big dolls, personally there is no such thing as being too big for me, but unfortunately my dolls only range in the 60cm catergory. I wouldn't mind an even larger doll, say, a 1:1 scale about the height and size proportions that of a real child, that would be awesome. :D

    3. I don't think I could go above 60-63cm
For awhile I liked the the Soom Saiph sculpt but quickly changed my mind about her after realizing she was 80cm
She's still pretty to look at though xD

    4. depends on the overall sculpt... some are very thin and leggy, so not as heavy as a fatter dolll that height- I probably wouldn't want to carry a metre tall doll around though, it'd get exhausting

    5. Congrats on getting your boy! I myself am waiting for my Yuu to arrive.

For me personally, I like larger dolls. The only problem you run into is where to put them all? As you said, they are rather big. The only ones I don't think I could handle are the 80cm's. I've heard those are about the size of a two year old child! XD

Really it's all about the person's preferances. If you like larger dolls then fine. Just be warned that eventually you'll run out of house if that's all you ever buy!

    6. lol once they hit four feet tall i think they need to stop, and even then that's a bit much. lol. my 70cm is kinda big anyway since i'm around toddlers quite a bit more and babies. and when the doll is bigger than the kid trying to carry it. O.o it's just weird. i'm 5' 3" my 70cm is as tall as the inside of my legs. i don't want a doll that goes past my waist.

    7. My own dolls are 60cm range and that works well for me - but I think the larger dolls are gorgeous! It's just I have to realize that my teeny tiny house isn't big enough! If I had the room, I wouldn't mind it at all.

    8. The 80cm is a limit for me. Not sure if I would get one. I got to see an 80cm at Acen back in May, OMG that doll was half my height and the height of a toddler, but it was cute in an odd way. I'd probably only get a boy in that scale, not a girl cause I don't find the larger girls pretty.

And the 80 cm would no doubt be a meet up only thing. No taking that big boy around with me just for fun like I can do with pukis or yos or msds.

    9. I do have 2 SD-sized dolls and can't wait to order my 70cm boy x3 I wouldn't even mind a life-sized doll as long as they are as pretty as our dolls xD But I think it will become difficult to carry them or give them a nice place in my apartment x'D

    10. I think 70 cms are fine (I like DOD Luke and DZ Chen! ><), but 80cm dolls are a little bit too much for me.
Everyone has different opinion on it. Maybe it's just that I don't like SOOM's molds.
My firsts favorites are SD sized dolls, but lately I found MSD, YoSD and 10cms are also very attracting.

    11. I love my 70cm boy (dz Yuu), I think he is a wonderful size. I think I would also like an 80cm doll, though none of the mecha angels really do it for me mold wise, if one did I would want it. It is true I limit my outings with Noble, he is big to take places, and it takes consideration and planning to accomplish it. I am more likely to take little Kitsune out with me because being only 27cms he is easy to take places, and it is easier to find safe places to sit him. But I still love the bigger dolls.

    12. Just ordered my Soom Sabik Elf. I lost tons of weight carrying the 60cm dolls.. Lets see how my arms get toned with this 80cm baby. I think this will be my size limit though.

    13. bjds the new arobics plan. :)

    14. Too big? Hm... It's usually been "the bigger, the better!" with me, but 80cm seems a little scary to me at the moment! I do have two 70cm dolls planned, however.

    15. as a 70cm Yuu is my one and only doll at the moment, i think he's perfect. It gets a little irritating if i have to carry a lot, as he takes up a whole arm and doesn't fit into any bags/carriers real well, but I've gotten used to it. I don't think I'd go any bigger, i like being able to carry him around. I'm scared to get a msd though! I would totaly lose or break something that small ><

    16. Even 60cm is pushing it, but I think 70 is where I cross the line. Hounds and such are just way too big for me... Much prefer MSDs. ^_^

    17. On my part 70cm is waaaay to big, and soom's 80cm is even bigger so I don't like that at all.
I own 2 SD at the moment and I am not planning on getting more cause they are big abd therefore, its harder to take care of them, so I like SD but not to have too much and not be able to play equally with all.
I love the msd sizes as well as the 26 and 38 cm, as you can make them pose without being scared that they make a big fall, and taking pictures is easier.
Some BJDs are also too small, which I don't like. But as long as they all have the right proportions its fine..;)

    18. I ordered multiple dolls without ever seeing any in person, so I did not know what i was getting into until my 60 cm Orlando arrived this morning. I spent a good couple of hours trying to get her dressed and wigged. I guess I'm lucky she was put together and had eyes already or I might have been really overwhelmed. I think I'll probably prefer the MSD size once I actually get mine. And I may go for something smaller someday, who knows? I love my orlando and I think she is beautiful, but if I get more dolls that size I wont have any room!

    19. I have my Sabik, and he's such an awesome size I love him <333 The weight is perfect, but it is still taking a lil to get used to X333 Such long legs!!

      I don't think I could go smaller than 50cm though... but we'll see! ^^;
