How Big is Too Big?

Apr 8, 2008

    1. I have a 70cm Yuu :sweat He's a big boy, and a lot of the time if I take him to a meet I have to leave my MSDs at home because he takes up all the space *_* although I do have a DollZone carrier that holds him nicely...did I mention he's heavy? :sweat I think 80cms is too much...for me at least :sweat If I can barely handle 70cms, 80cms is too big *_*

    2. Mmm well there were a few 70cm dolls ive looked at that ive thaught of getting
but i think ide prefer a 60cm doll just because it would be easier to handle and easeir to find clothing and acceceries for..

    3. don't let the 10 cm difference fool you. 60 cm is still hard to handle, especially if the joints are loose. I was trying to dress my doll and she would start to fall one way or another making things difficult. Really, it was like trying to dress a child that didn't want to be dressed.

    4. I decided right from the beginning that SDs were too big for me. I only wanted MSDs so everything over 48cm is too big for me.

*Stares at Iplehouse Lt Cocori.* :love Yup SDs are too big for me. * Stares some more at Cocori.* :aheartbea I'm not getting an SD! No really I'm not. :|

      *_*

    5. I quite like 60cm as a large doll, and as mentioned before:it can be difficult to find clothes for a larger doll.
But,it's all down to personal opinion really.(I think.....)
Some people prefer smaller dolls. For others,a small doll just might not do.

    6. I've had a 60cm and I've handled 70cms; I'm planning on getting a 70cm next, so their size doesn't bother me at all! I'm not drawn to the big ol' Sabiks, but that may be more because of the sculpt than the size. Though, I don't think I'd be interested in carrying a doll much bigger than 80cms. I wouldn't be able to carry anything else, a doll that big would probably take up most of my arm space xD
I do think some dolls would be too small for me, though. MSD size is probably my small-doll limit. Tinies like pukis are adorable, but I'd be terrified of knocking them over and sending them flying across a room, or just losing them altogether. The weight and size of a bigger doll is comforting, in a way.

    7. I'd be afraid of breaking something real little too.

    8. I think past 70 cm is pushing it.

    9. I have a 60 cm, and in my opinion thats too big for me. It might just be the dolls sculpt but Im just not yet comfortable with dolls larger than 45cm.

    10. I actually think size doesn't matter...if you want an extremely tall doll then so be it. If you want the smallest of small then whatever floats your boat. :) I see nothing wrong with some of the taller dolls, the look just as good as some of their smaller buddies and if that's what your prefer then who's to tell you that, "Hey...why do you get a doll that big...what's the point." In all truth there is no point, but why is it such a big deal? Yeah they are more expensive but that's because they take more time to make...obviously. Their clothes with have to be bigger and what not, so if they were to sell them for the same price as the smaller ones, the companies wouldn't be able to keep up with all the orders. I've been around my friends doll who is 60cm I do believe but don't quote me on that. I know he's one of the larger makes though, and I absolutely adore him. So to me, no matter what the size, they are good with me. :)

    11. Personally, if I can't lift the doll or could mistake them for an actual person, that's too big. Other than that, if you have the room, it's cool. :)

    12. My 58 cm is on the way. I have a big bear that size, and he doesn't seem hard to handle, just alot of space, and he is heavier too, mine is only 3#
My carrier broke, so I need to replace or repair it

    13. I have no height limits, though I sometimes worry my boys and girls will look so strange together if they're all different heights.

    14. I have 3 tinies who I adore - they're easy to transport, they don't take up much room, and their posing ability is phenomenal.

I have 3 MSDs who I adore. I don't take them out of the house, but they are currently winning the war on who gets the space in the bedroom. They don't pose as well as the tinies, and they face plant way more often than my tinies.

If I got SDs I'd have to get a new apartment. There wouldn't be enough room for both them and me!

I think that living space conditions is really what dictates to me on how large they can get. Also weight.

    15. The sky is my limit! Bigger is definitly better! XD
As long as I can still carry them long enough to show them off as doll meets then I'll keep buying the big ones. :)

Unfortunately, my liking for the 70cm+ dolls also means they're more expensive than the usual 60s. :...(

    16. It's all in the personal choice. :) I personally perfer MSDs but then again, when you're only 5ft tall, anything much more 60cms can be taller than when you're sitting down!

    17. I've actually seen actual size Suigintou and Shinku! Both of them are around 120cm tall! As far as I can remember their owner made them.

I don't think I'll get a doll this big as I find it impossible to store them, my room doesn't have enough space. Getting the clothes and accessories may not be as hard as I can get real children's stuff for them. The most difficult items to get maybe the wig and glass eyes. ^^"

    18. when I found out that Soom made 80cm dolls, I nearly fainted...I can't imagine a BJD that big!!!

    19. Too tall for me would be when they get to be human sized XD

    20. I like manquins myself but they take up to much room and might scare me if I wake up in th middle of the night to get some water so I probably would not go any bigger then 70cm...
